Bannow-Ballymitty's powerful last quarter upsets Cloughbawn
Bannow-Ballymitty 2-19 Cloughbawn 4-9 Wexford People Today at 08:30 Bannow-Ballymitty produced a powerful final quarter to see off a gallant Cloughbawn to get their Whizzy Internet Intermediate 'A' football championship Group B campaign off to a winning start in Cushinstown on Friday. The New Ross District club looked to be in some peril when Cloughbawn went on a scoring spree shortly after half-time to move 4-9 to 1-9 ahead. However, their scores dried up in the baking heat as Bannow-Ballymitty racked up 1-10 without reply to take an impressive victory.

Kilmore 3-11 Glynn-Barntown 1-7 Wexford People Glynn-Barntown, who struggled for a variety of reasons to field a team, proved no match for an eager and fit Kilmore side on a day when county star Tom Byrne excelled. His side won comfortably by 3-11 to 1-7 in the first round of the Whizzy Internet Intermediate 'A' football championship in Tagoat on Saturday. Byrne started brightly and helped them lead by 0-3 to nil after five minutes, hitting one superb two-pointer.

The victors have the talent to go at least another step up the grades. Whether it will happen or not is probably down to themselves, but this surgical performance bodes well for the weeks ahead.

Wexford People Today at 04:30 St. Mary's (Rosslare) had a stroll in the July heat on Sunday, cantering past a poor Geraldine O'Hanrahans in Group A of the Whizzy Internet Intermediate 'A' football championship in Samaritans St. Patrick's Park. The Wexford District club took most of the first quarter to find their feet, but it was all too easy after that as they strolled to a 38-point win. While the level of opponent was not what one would expect in this grade, Rosslare approached the contest in the right manner.
