Bavarian Bakehouse, which was crowned Wholesale Baker of the Year in 2023, has been serving the city for decades with its selection of freshly baked goods, and the former Oasis songwriter is a huge fan. Kathleen McShane, managing director of Bavarian Bakehouse, said"During the dinner, Noel kept asking for more of our soup rolls. "He said they were the best he had ever tasted, and the chefs even gave him some to take home with him in a doggy bag." The Bavarian Bakehouse has come a long way since its inception in 1984. Established by German master baker and merchant seaman Karl Wichman, the business was later purchased by former accountant Kathleen McShane more than 14 years ago. Despite its growth, the bakery has maintained its commitment to traditional baking methods, providing Glasgow and beyond with sourdough, pretzels, cakes, pastries, and traybakes. The bakery has become a popular choice for supplying high-profile events like the Commonwealth Games, the Open Golf at Royal Troon, and even the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Every week, the bakery produces over 35,000 items using its starter sourdough, which is as old as the bakery itself. "We've stayed true to the original principles of using traditional, handcrafted techniques, and that's resonated with our clients. "The reason we're still around is because we've never stopped evolving. There's a growing appetite for food made properly, and I think people are becoming wise to how bad supermarket bread really is for you. "We need more space so we can continue to give the same care and attention we've always given to our products as demand grows."

Oasis icon Noel Gallagher says this Scottish bakery serves up the 'best ever' rolls

It has been baking delicious treats for more than 40 years. There is less than a month to go until Oasis make their long-awaited return to Scotland. The Britpop legends, headed by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, have reunited and will play three shows at Edinburgh's Murrayfield on August 8, 9, and 12. ‌ Scottish Oasis fans are counting down the days until their first shows in the country in more than 15 years. If you're looking for a way to while away the time until August 8, why not visit a bakery that comes highly recommended by none other than Noel himself. ‌ Bavarian Bakehouse holds the title of being the oldest artisan bakery in Glasgow. Situated on the outskirts of Scotland's biggest city, near Cumbernauld, the business has been around for more than 40 years. ‌ Established in 1984, the bakery was bought by former accountant Kathleen McShane from German master baker and merchant seaman Karl Wichman more than 14 years ago. In 2017, she relocated the factory from Kirkintilloch to its current 4,000 square feet premises. And they also now run a store in Partick, in the heart of the city's west end. Over the years, the company has evolved into a multi-million pound turnover business with a team of 30 skilled staff members. It was previously crowned Wholesale Baker of the Year in 2023. Staff at Bavarian Bakehouse say the firm has stayed true to traditional baking methods while extending its reach across Glasgow and beyond. Its offerings include sourdough, pretzels, cakes, pastries, and traybakes. The bakery has become a popular choice for supplying high-profile events like the Commonwealth Games, The Open Golf at Royal Troon, and even the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. ‌ It was at the latter event that Noel Gallagher reportedly declared Bavarian's sourdough rolls were the best he'd ever tasted. Kathleen McShane, Managing Director of Bavarian Bakehouse, previously stated: "During the dinner, Noel kept asking for more of our soup rolls. Given they're sourdough, they are markedly different from the rolls you typically get at these events. ‌ "He said they were the best he had ever tasted, and the chefs even gave him some to take home with him in a doggy bag." Bavarian Bakehouse is renowned for its handcrafted approach, producing over 35,000 items weekly. Its starter sourdough is as old as the bakery itself. McShane also commented: "It's been incredible to watch how the bakery has grown from humble beginnings to supplying some of Glasgow's most renowned venues. ‌ "We've stayed true to the original principles of using traditional, handcrafted techniques, and that's resonated with our clients. "The reason we're still around is because we've never stopped evolving. There's a growing appetite for food made properly, and I think people are becoming wise to how bad supermarket bread really is for you. "We need more space so we can continue to give the same care and attention we've always given to our products as demand grows."
