AI-generated ‘kangaroo boarding scene' fools the Internet, hyper-realistic clip gets over 11 million views

A viral video showing a kangaroo holding a boarding pass and calmly waiting to board a flight has taken the Internet by storm, despite being entirely AI-generated. The short, surreal clip features a kangaroo standing at an airport gate, appearing to queue for a flight like any other passenger. Clutching a boarding pass and standing next to a woman arguing with airline staff, the animal's calm composure fooled millions online. The video was shared on X by user @itsme_urstruly with the caption: 'Airline staff is not allowing this cute kangaroo to board the airplane, the way he is holding the boarding pass and waiting to be scanned.' The post has since racked up over 11.7 million views. Airline staff is not allowing this cute kangaroo to board the airplane, the way he is holding the boarding pass and waiting to be scanned 🥺 (ai) — Wholesome Side of 𝕏 (@itsme_urstruly) May 26, 2025 Though the visuals appear authentic, the clip is not real. It was generated using artificial intelligence, and was initially shared by an Instagram page called Infinite Unreality, known for creating AI-based videos of animals in bizarre scenarios. Many viewers were stunned by the sight of what looked like a marsupial preparing to fly. One user commented, 'He's more patient and polite than 90% of humans I say let him on' while another wrote, 'Better behaved than most people at airports.' However, several users also recognised that the video was AI-generated. One person wrote, 'In a deep state of sympathy, i forgot to know this isn't real.' Another said, 'Sadly this is AI, Support Kangaroo would have been so cool.' Infinite Unreality page previously has uploaded videos of hippopotamus strapped into an airplane seat, a giraffe boarding a plane, and a pig being pushed in a stroller. The kangaroo video follows this same theme and was originally marked as AI-generated by its creator. When the clip was later reposted on X, the caption even included the label '(AI),' suggesting its digital origin. Yet, the lifelike rendering still managed to convince many viewers it was real.
