Wicked: For Good's First Look Has Fans Screaming ‘Already Waiting For This'

Last Updated: The makers of Wicked: For Good released a featurette giving a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming musical fantasy directed by Jon M. Chu. Following the massive success of Wicked: Part I, fans have been eagerly waiting for its sequel, and it's finally starting to feel real. On Wednesday, August 6, the makers shared the first behind-the-scenes featurette for Wicked: For Good, the second and final instalment of the musical fantasy films directed by Jon M. Chu. The 2-minute and 46-second clip gave a glimpse into Elphaba and Glinda's unbreakable bond. The video begins with Cynthia Erivo saying that both protagonists are 'stepping into a new space in their lives." As the clip played, it showed some never-before-seen moments of Elphaba, aka Wicked Witch of the West, played by Cynthia, and Glinda, aka Glinda the Good, played by Ariana Grande, and hinted at what's to come. It also featured some raw moments between the co-stars, including filming emotional scenes, laughing together, and working with full determination alongside the director. The upcoming film won't just reveal what happens to the Wizard of Oz, but also test their friendship. 'I believe their bond is unbreakable, but it is deeply challenged by the distance they have to navigate," said Cynthia while talking about Elphaba and Glinda's friendship. And as per Ariana, Wicked: For Good will let the viewers see how far their 'friendship" can be pushed. She added, 'There's nuance, there's hurt, there's forgiveness… These two women love each other so much, and they truly change each other for the better." Wicked: For Good's First Featurette Includes Glimpse Of Wizard Of Oz Movie's Characters The featurette also gave a glimpse of the Yellow Brick Road and the original Wizard of Oz movie's characters. At one point. Dorothy was seen walking alongside the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion. The 32-year-old actor-singer further said, 'We get to see how these characters like the Tin Man and the Scarecrow and the Lion come to be," Grande says. 'We truly see the origin story of the witches of Oz." One fan said, 'I'm already in the theatre waiting for this." Another added, 'Oz isn't just a place-it's a journey through magic and memory. This behind-the-scenes glimpse of Wicked: For Good invites us back into a world where wonder never fades." A different fan wrote, 'Ugh… I'm crying already. I'm ready to be changed for good." 'SO READY TO CRY!!!" someone else said. Someone commented, 'THE 'HAVEN'T YOU HEARD I'M THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST' CHILLLSSSSSSSKXLDLD." What's Wicked: For Good About? The sequel to Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, is based on Act 2 of the Broadway musical. Wicked: For Good will begin right after the events of the first movie, which ended with Elphaba's powerful performance of Defying Gravity. Now labelled a 'wicked witch," Elphaba disappeared. The final chapter will show the story of Elphaba and Glinda as they face the consequences of their choices. The film is set to hit theatres on November 21. The Wicked sequel trailer has landed. These are the four biggest takeaways

Look out Ozians, the witch is back. The trailer for Wicked: For Good has officially landed, offering fans a first glimpse into what Elphaba, Glinda and the Emerald City have to offer next. Following Jon M. Chu's Academy Award-winning Wicked: Part I, which was adapted from the iconic Broadway musical, the sequel picks up where the first left off: Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) has been dubbed the Wicked Witch of the West by the fraudulent Wizard (Jeff Goldblum), complicating her friendship with Glinda, the Good Witch (Ariana Grande). The two films were filmed back-to-back but separated into two features, with the first ending at the same point as the Broadway version's intermission. For Good will land in cinemas on November 21, exactly a year after the first, which ultimately won two Oscars and grossed $1.16 billion globally. 'I think the meat of what Wicked is all about happens in movie two,' Chu told Vanity Fair on Wednesday. 'To me, this is why this story exists. This is where our childhood dreams collide with our adult selves.' Despite its release still being more than five months away, fans are already champing at the bit for any new details. Here are some of the biggest takeaways from the trailer. Something Bad Unlike the first film, which was a green and pink singing extravaganza, For Good is adopting a far darker tone. This is a logical choice since it will explore heavier themes such as prejudice, government corruption, and the powers of propaganda.

Wicked: For Good Poster Promises ‘You Will Be Changed'

The first poster for promises that fans 'will be changed.' Wicked, also known as Wicked: Part I, was released in United States theaters in November 2024. The film was immediately a massive hit and became the fifth-highest-grossing movie of 2024, making $744.2 million at the global box office. Wicked adapts the first act of the 2003 stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. A sequel, Wicked: For Good, is dated for November 2025 and will adapt the second half. The first poster for Wicked: For Good has been spotted at CinemaCon. It sees Ariana Grande's Glinda and Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba looking at one another while standing on opposing sides of the Yellow Brick Road. Check out the poster, via an X post from The Hollywood Reporter, below: The 'will be changed' quote is a reference to the 'For Good' duet featured in the second act of Wicked. In the play, Glinda and Elphaba perform the song after Elphaba realizes that the citizens of Oz are on their way to arrest, or potentially kill, her. Glinda tries to warn her of the forthcoming danger and the two share a moment where they say goodbye to one another, noting that they've both 'been changed for good' because of their friendship. The film is once again directed by Jon M. Chu. Also returning for the sequel alongside Erivo and Grande are Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Wicked: For Good will be released in United States theaters on November 21, 2025, from Universal Pictures. The first Wicked movie, meanwhile, is now available to stream on Peacock.
