But he could not stop Agyemang, on a solo run, in the 90th minute. It was the sixth goal of the season for the U.S. international. Charlotte outshot Toronto 18-7 (9-2) in shots on target. The game marked a return for Toronto fullback Richie Laryea, out since March 1 with a hamstring injury, and former Toronto winger Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, on loan to Charlotte from CF Montreal, in his first game back at BMO Field since being traded away in August 2024 Laryea came off the bench to cheers in the 77th minute, his first action since TFC's second league game of the season. And the abrasive fullback wasted no time getting in the face of Zaha and Charlotte captain Ashley Westwood.

Agyemang stays hot scoring twice to lead Charlotte FC past Columbus Crew 3-2
CHARLOTTE, N.C (AP) — Patrick Agyemang scored two goals in a span of five minutes and Pep Biel scored the game winner and Charlotte FC beat the Columbus Crew 3-2 on Saturday night Mohamed Farsi's lob from the right side to the middle of the box was perfectly set and played by Ibrahim Aliyu whose header found the back of the net at 15 minutes to give the Crew a 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived when at 19 minutes, out of a corner from Biel, Agyemang registered his own header into the net. At 24 minutes, Agyemang made it a one-goal lead taking a ball on the run past his defender and beat keeper Nicholas Hagen to the bottom right corner. Agyemang now has scored four goals in his last three games. Columbus tied it at 2-2 at the 65th minute when Malte Amundsen scored with a left footed shot from the center the box to the lower left. Charlotte (7-7-1) got the game winner from Biel 10 minutes later converting a shot off an assist from Wilfried Zaha. The Crew (7-2-6) inserted Hagen in place of regular starter Patrick Schulte who suffered an injury during pregame warmups. No additional details were provided about Schulte's injury. ___ AP soccer:

Zaha goes on social media rant after Charlotte FC loss Charlotte FC star Wilfried Zaha lashed out on social media after his side's 1-0 loss to the New England Revolution on Saturday. Zaha was upset with mounting criticism over his displays since his move to MLS in the offseason. The 32-year-old Ivory Coast international signed as a Designated Player in a loan deal with Turkish side Galatasaray, but hasn't been at his best so far in MLS. Zaha has tallied two goals and zero assists in eight matches, netting just once after a goal on his club debut in March. The former Manchester United forward vented on Snapchat after Saturday's game, saying he feels like he's been scapegoated despite a number of mitigating factors. Among those are a lack of minutes during a loan at Lyon, missing time early this season due to the birth of his daughter, and adjusting to playing on turf for the first time in his career. He concluded by pointing out that despite the perception of his poor form, Charlotte FC has still started the season well.
