Can Mike Sullivan Propel The Rangers Back To Relevance?
Is Mike Sullivan alone enough to propel the New York Rangers back to relevance? There are two parts to this question. Yes, Sullivan can change the culture around in New York. On top of the new coach effect, Sullivan is a proven winner and a two-time Stanley Cup champion. Upon his arrival to Pittsburgh, Sullivan helped establish a strong culture around Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang. Will Cuylle Makes Positive Impression At IIHF World Campionship Despite Canada's Disastrous Collapse While Team Canada may have not ended the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship the way they would have wanted to, Will Cuylle had an impressive showing at the tournament. Sullivan's direct and passionate attitude is exactly what this Rangers team needs at the moment. He'll bring a jolt of energy that not many head coaches are able to provide. The Rangers have the talent, but there was clearly something wrong with the team internally, something that Sullivan can help fix. However, one coach cannot magically cure all of the Rangers' problems. Defensively, the Blueshirts are just not strong and that might take a change in personnel and improvements from players like Adam Fox and K'Andre Miller. From an offensive standpoint, the Rangers will heavily depend on their veterans, a.k.a. Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, and J.T. Miller to carry the load. There's a call for the Blueshirts to make major changes over the offseason, but it will be difficult for Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury to make any drastic roster moves due to the team's cap flexibility. That means it will likely be a quiet summer for the Rangers and next season's results will heavily depend on some of these returning players having bounce-back years. Sullivan can partially turn this Rangers ship around, but it will take more than just him.

Will Cuylle Makes Positive Impression At IIHF World Campionship Despite Canada's Disastrous Collapse
While Team Canada may have not ended the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship the way they would have wanted to, Will Cuylle had an impressive showing at the tournament. Cuylle joined a team full of some of the NHL's best players including Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, but he was still able to stand out. Will Cuylle Wants To Give Back To Canada At World Championship After a breakout second year in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Will Cuylle is ready for more. The 23-year-old forward recorded two goals, two assists, and four points in eight games for Team Canada. Throughout the tournament, Cuylle seemed to get better and look more comfortable as he brought his same physically-minded play style he's been known for with the New York Rangers. 'We see the same thing, big, physical skates all around player,' Canada head coach Dean Evason said of Cuylle during the tournament. 'It's unfortunate and or fortunate that we have 13 forwards, and some guys get not as much ice time as they normally get, so maybe don't get into the game, but we really like the way that he plays the game. His presence moving forward, his physicality, will be a big part of our success.' Cuylle mostly played a fourth-line role, but Canada Evason shuffled the lines a couple of times and even had Cuylle playing with MacKinnon at one point. It's safe to say that this is just the start for Cuylle.

The Rangers Must Act Quickly With Will Cuylle's Contract Extension
Signing Will Cuylle to a long-term contract extension should be the New York Rangers' number one priority this offseason. The 23-year-old forward is set to become a restricted free agent and the Rangers have to take action quickly. Will Cuylle Has 'Lots Of Trust' That Mike Sullivan Is The Right Hire For Rangers The New York Rangers are ready to embark on a new era with Mike Sullivan as head coach. Cuylle took a big jump during his second NHL season as he not only increased his offensive numbers, but transformed into a complete and reliable two-way forward. In his third NHL season, Cuylle should only take another big leap in his development and his promise is starting to be recognized around the NHL. He's currently playing for Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championship with a multitude of star talent including Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon. The fact that Cuylle is part of this talented team shows how he is viewed among NHL managers and coaches. If the Rangers take their time to sign Cuylle, there's a chance he could receive an offer sheet from another team and the trend of giving out offer sheets has become more common. The term is also an important part of a contract extension for Cuylle. At this point, Cuylle has not fully emerged into a star, so signing him to a team-friendly extension for 5-8 years is something that must be explored. Over time, Cuylle will grow into his contract and years down the road we could be looking at this potential deal as a sneaky steal if the Rangers play their cards correctly. The ball is in Drury's court, so we'll see what he can get done.

NHL offer sheet buzz: Will Cuylle, Marco Rossi, or Mason McTavish become 2025 targets?
Image Via Twitter Offer sheet talks were rising for the 2025-26 season, and so to some extent, they are heating up. The signing of Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway by St. Louis last summer gave a rare sort of reminder that offer sheets do exist as a strategy. Perhaps big-name players would be unrealistic, but these young emerging RFAs with mid-level value should create small bidding wars as the salary cap is expected to rise to $95.5 million. Will Cuylle and Marco Rossi: The top likely offer sheet targets? Due to how crucial they are to their respective clubs and how much money those same clubs have, Evan Bouchard and Matthew Knies are almost untouchable. The opposite may be true for younger players just on the brink of breaking through and being targeted. Depending upon the level of an offer between $4.68 million and $7.02 million, a team may try to lure these talents away by giving up a first- and third-round draft pick in compensation affordable risk for clubs looking for long-term upside. — TheHockeyNews (@TheHockeyNews) Players like Marco Rossi from the Minnesota Wild and Mason McTavish from the Anaheim Ducks fall in this category. However, due mainly to the flexibility with the cap that their teams currently enjoy, it is very unlikely that these players will be signed away. At least Anaheim is expected to have above $36 million in cap space, so any attempt to lure McTavish over would be a long shot. Dmitri Voronkov's Blue Jackets, on the other hand, are sitting in a solid financial position with more than $41 million in projected cap room. Of all rumored targets, Cuylle from the New York Rangers is the most plausible candidate. Incapable of holding more than about $8.4 million in cap space, this team is already in the majority under contract for their roster. This scenario puts them in a particularly vulnerable position for setting up a strategic offer sheet against a developing player like Cuylle, who is considered a valuable future asset due to his youth, grit, and scoring touch. Other names being tossed around are JJ Peterka, Gabriel Vilardi, Luke Evangelista, and Kaapo Kakko, with varying degrees of availability and club leverage. But the name of the game is not just in crafting the offer; it is in doing the right timing that won't allow the other side to be able to respond without mortgaging their own future plans. Also Read: Philadelphia Flyers shock the NHL world by hiring Rick Tocchet as new head coach Offer sheets, though rarely utilized, are a powerful tool in NHL building rosters. Usually, star players are beyond reach. Mid-tier RFAs such as Will Cuylle and Marco Rossi may, however, be on the table if an appropriate salary-cap structure emerges. It, thus, remains to be seen if any teams follow through with the idea that the 2025 off-season is an interesting question indeed. It's Disappointing That Alexis Lafrenière and K'Andre Miller Won't Be Playing At The World Championship
It's Disappointing That Alexis Lafrenière and K'Andre Miller Won't Be Playing At The World Championship Dennis Schneidler-Imagn Images The New York Rangers have quite a few players set to play at the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship, but there are two notable players who will be absent. It was widely speculated that we could see both Alexis Lafrenière and K'Andre Miller representing their respective countries at the World Championship. Will Cuylle and Brett Berard Set To Play At 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship Will Cuylle and Brett Berard Set To Play At 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship On top of Mika Zibanejad, now Will Cuylle and Brett Berard are set to participate in the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship. ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement They were asked about the possibility of participating in this tournament and while not specifically committing, Lafrenière and Miller seemed to be intrigued by the opportunity. However, with the tournament just two days away, there are no signs of Lafrenière and Miller playing as it appears as if they won't be joining Mika Zibanejad, Brett Berard, Will Cuylle, Juuso Parssinen, and Dylan Garand. It's unclear if either Lafrenière and Miller are dealing with any injuries, but given that they are both young and still developing, this could have been a good opportunity for them to grow and showcase their skills on an international level. They also had what many considered to be down years for their standards and with a longer offseason, playing at the World Championship was an opportunity that likely would have been worthwhile for Lafrenière and Miller.
