H-D girls assume lead, MCS boys sweep, Lisbon wins
May 16—Riding a late run Hermon-DeKalb emerged with sole possessionof first place in the NAC West Softball race after a 12-1 win over Hammond on Wednesday. The Green Demons climbed to 7-1 with their seventh straight win and handed Hammond its second loss of the season. The baseball action saw Lisbon outscoring Hermon-DeKalb 14-8, Harrisville downing Edwards-Knox 11-1 and Morristown sweeping a doubleheader from Clifton-Fine 8-5, 9-4.

H-D 12 — Hammond 1: The Green Demons took sole possession of the lead in the first of two games with Hammond which will travel to H-D on Monday.
Lauren Bishop struck out eight spinning a three-hitter for the Demons who drilled 10 extrabase hits led by Maya Green with three triples, Bishop with three doubles and Lauren Holland with a triple and a single. Peyton Wright and Myra Stransky singled and doubled, Ella Sharpe doubled and Ava Besaw singled twice.
Makia Greene singled three times for Morristown.
BASEBALL
Lisbon 14 — H-D 8: The Golden Knights enjoyed an outstanding hitting outing and determined effort from starting pitcher Will Pirie to claim their second straight victory. Isaiah White rapped three singles and a double amd scored five times to lead the support for Pirie who pitched into the seventh inning where Brody Adams came on to get the final two outs.

Pirie also rapped three doubles and Adams connected for a triple and two singles. Gabe Smith delivered a double and two singles and Noah O'Leary singled and doubled. Blake Woods and Owen Jerome singled twice.
Noah MacDonald doubled and singled for the Demons and Noah Friot and Gavin Walwrath singled twice. Jonathan tereile, Kasey Wentzel, Owen Clifford, Austin Delorme and Micah Walwrath all singled.
MCS 8, 9 — C-F 5, 4: Eli Raville pitched the first game win and Ian Pearson singled twice and Wyatt Clement doubled to lead the offensive support. Austin Cutway and Sawyer Belisle singled. C-F was led by a double and a single by Jack Booker, two singles by Brendon Carr and a single by Aayden Tristam.
Wyatt Clement tossed the second win where Cutway stroked two singles and Ethan Simmons and Belisle singled. Booker doubled and singled for the Eagles and Carr singled twice.

Harrisville 11 — E-K 1: Joe Shephard struck out 12 in a two-hitter and also singled in the Harrisvillle win. Aiden Chartrand rapped a homerun and a triple and Loos connected for a single, a double and a homerun. Connor Mantle singled three times and scored three runs, Lucas Hadfield also singled three times, Jayden Frerichs doubled and singled and Joe Schrodt singled twice along with Jackson Jenack
Maddox Sullivan added a single and Dylan Carastole and Kale Jamison singled for the E-K hits.
