The Nebraska Cornhuskers entered Sunday continuing their run in the elimination rounds, this time facing Oklahoma for a chance to take on North Carolina tonight in the Regional Championship. The Sooners, however, demolished any hope the Huskers had, ending their season with a 17-1 blowout.
Oklahoma picked apart Nebraska from the start, scoring three runs in the top of the first before piling on six more in the third. By the time the Huskers scored their lone run of the game, the Sooners held a commanding 15-0 lead.
Dylan Carey brought in the run for Nebraska, hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. The Huskers finished with only six hits in the game.
Oklahoma knocked in 18 hits on the day, with eight batters finishing with two or more. Will Walsh (4-8) suffered the loss after starting the game for Nebraska. He pitched 2.0 innings but allowed seven runs and six hits.
Tucker Timmerman stepped in for Walsh in the third but only managed one out before being pulled, while the Sooners struck three more hits and two more runs.
Drew Christo took over and pitched 3.1 innings, but also fell victim to the Oklahoma onslaught, finishing with five runs off four hits and four walks. Jalen Worthley tossed 1.1 innings and coughed up two hits and a run.
Gavin Blachowicz pitched the eighth inning, tossing one strikeout but allowing three hits and two runs. TJ Coats closed out the ninth, earning one strikeout.
Nebraska concluded its 2025 season with a 33-29 overall record and its 19th regional appearance in program history, and its third in the last five seasons, after winning back-to-back Big Ten Tournament titles.
