Spring break canceled for Clay County Public Schools; districts work to make up missed days
CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — An eastern Kentucky district is canceling spring break after a school year filled with missed days due to criminal activity and Mother Nature.
Clay County Public Schools Superintendent William Sexton announced Tuesday that the district's spring break, scheduled for the last full week of March, is now canceled.

Spring break canceled for Clay County Public Schools; districts work to make up missed days
Because of that, the last day for students will be June 3rd, and for teachers, June 9th.
Several districts have had to call off or use NTI days because of weather, illnesses, and the I-75 shooting.
Districts like Laurel County Public Schools have extended the end of their school day by 15 minutes, which equals two make-up days.

Knox County Schools have added 20 minutes to each school day.
At least two bills are still alive in Frankfort that would give districts like Clay County Schools some relief, but nothing has passed so far.
