13-Year-Old with Brain and Spinal Cancer Faces New Health Struggle 2 Months After Becoming Honorary Secret Service Agent

DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old honorary U.S. Secret Service agent living with brain and spinal cancer, has three new tumors DJ's father Theodis Daniel shared the health update at a May 19 swearing-in ceremony, two months after President Donald Trump made DJ an honorary agent 'It's rough — there isn't a class that can teach you how to deal with it,' Theodis said about his son's latest diagnosisAs a small child, Devarjaye 'DJ' Daniel was given months to live. In 2018, the Texas native was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer, with doctors giving him five months to live, according to the United States Secret Service. Five months turned into five years. Now, after seven years and more than 13 brain surgeries, DJ is still standing. But a new diagnosis has shaken his family and supporters. When the teen — who wants to be a police officer — was sworn in as an honorary agent of the U.S. Secret Service in March, his father Theodis Daniel said DJ's family is hopeful about his future, thanks in part to a research study he is participating in. 'He's beating the odds," Theodis said at the time. But two months later, the proud parent shared that the odds have changed. During a swearing-in ceremony at Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) in Texas, Theodis told FOX 7 Austin that the teen is 'just winging it day by day' in the face of new health hardships. 'He does have three new tumors,' the father told the Texas outlet at the May 19 ceremony. 'It's rough — there isn't a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You're hearing that your child has a nasty disease.' But DJ, whose desire to become a law enforcement officer stemmed from his family's experiences during Hurricane Harvey, has already achieved his goal, according to FOX 7. He has been sworn in by more than 1,300 agencies, including multiple on May 19. And his family remains hopeful. Amid DJ's health struggles, Theodis told FOX 7, 'We're just going around showing people, 'Hey, you do care for one another. Let's give compassion and let's try to join and help each other get through things.' ' Perhaps the crowning jewel of DJ's honorary law enforcement titles is U.S. Secret Service agent. President Donald Trump bestowed him with the honor on March 4 in a joint address to Congress. 'Tonight, DJ, we're going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service,' Trump, 78, told the teen, whose eyes widened upon hearing the news. The following day, DJ also visited the president in the Oval Office. And, after his father shared his latest health update in Texas, the White House released a statement of support for the teen. 'We're lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,' an X post from the White House said. 'DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men—and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country," the post continued. "Agent Daniel, you're a true legend. 🇺🇸.' Heartbreaking health update for little boy who stole Trump's heart and won over America

A young boy battling brain cancer who stole the hearts of the nation when President Trump made him an honorary Secret Service member has developed more tumors, his family have said. Devarjaye 'DJ' Daniel, 13, was introduced to a global audience when Trump singled him out during his State of the Union address earlier this year and gave him the honor. The youngster has been battling cancer for six years after being diagnosed in 2018 with a rare form of incurable brain and spine cancer. He was told at the time he only had five months to live. His father Theodis Daniel revealed the heartbreaking update to Fox7 earlier this month, saying: 'He does have three new tumors. 'It's rough, there isn't a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You're hearing that your child has a nasty disease. 'We're just going around showing people, hey, you do care for one another. Let's give compassion and let's try to join and help each other get through things.' The youngster has been trying to get sworn in to as many law enforcement agencies as possible as he and his family try to raise awareness about his condition. His father spoke after Daniel became an honorary member of multiple law enforcement agencies in Williamson County, Texas. The sheriff's office in the county was his 1,351st swearing in, with his journey leading him to be sworn in across six other countries. Theodis added: 'Look at him, he's happy, vibrant. I never know what's going to come out of his mouth. It makes me nervous half the time, because he has jokes.' Introducing Daniel, Trump had said: 'Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who truly loves our police. 'The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago. Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true.' Daniels was held up by his father for the touching moment as he received his badge from Director Sean Curran and Republicans in the House gallery chanted 'DJ'. The next day Daniel and his family joined Trump in the Oval Office, with the youngster sharing a hug with the president. 'That was a big evening last night,' Trump said to them as he shook Daniel's father's hand. Former DOGE chief Elon Musk had also promised the boy his own Cybertruck after he was honored. Speaking with CNN 's Kaitlan Collins outside of the White House after his appointment, Daniel revealed he had bumped into the Tesla CEO and X boss. He said: 'I said, "can you do me a big favor, when you get back to Houston can you send us a Cybertruck down there".' Collins then asks him: 'Did Elon Musk say he'd send you a Tesla Cybertruck?', to which the youngster responded: 'Mmmmhmm'. Sharing the short exchange to her X, Musk later responded to the clip with a love heart emoji, suggesting the boy's wish for the vehicle could well be granted. Earlier this month the youngster was also sworn in as a honorary ICE and Border Patrol Agent by Deputy Director Madison Sheahan.

Texas teacher slept with student who she saw as ‘little brother': Cops

A high school student teacher in Texas allegedly admitted having sex with a male student whom she thought of as a 'little brother,' authorities allege. Darian Christine Rogers, 22, met the boy at a grocery store where they both worked prior to her job at Rouse High School in Leander, Texas, KTBC reported. Rogers, who began working at the high school as a student teacher in January, was reported to authorities in April by another student who claimed she had 'personal knowledge' of a staffer in a sexual relationship with a minor, according to court paperwork seen by the outlet. She also claimed Rogers was 'engaging in sexual relationships with several of her co-workers,' who were also allegedly students in the district. The student then provided a voicemail from a woman – identified as Rogers by Williamson County Sheriff's Office – where she allegedly admitted to sending explicit photos to a 17-year-old boy. The alleged victim denied the relationship to police until text messages found on his phone allegedly showed him and Rogers discussing the Plan B contraceptive pill. Rogers initially insisted they were not having sex, even telling police their relationship was that of a 'big sister and little brother.' However, she was arrested after cops confronted her with the text evidence. Rogers allegedly admitted the pair only had sex 'one time' in his truck in a parking lot near the grocery store where they both worked, the affidavit read. Rogers allegedly warned the student via text to avoid 'inappropriate comments' in front of school staff as she was interviewing for a position there, the affidavit noted. Detectives also allegedly found a video of Rogers taking the Plan B pill and a screenshot of the receipt on her phone. Another text between Rogers and a friend allegedly described a previous sexual relationship between her and another minor, who was a student in the Leander Independent School District at the time. Florida teacher allegedly had sex with student hours before arrest: Cops Wisconsin high school teacher accused of having sex with student in parking lot Scream mask orgy teacher's hubby allegedly threatened boys Rouse High School principal Vincent Hawkins sent a letter to students' families on Friday following Rogers' arrest. 'The individual was not a Leander ISD or Rouse High School employee and was immediately removed from campus once the district was made aware of the situation,' according to the outlet. 'Any accusations of misconduct did not happen on our campus, during school hours, or at any school-sponsored event.' Rogers was released from Williamson County Jail on Saturday on a $20,000 bond. She has been charged with second-degree felony improper relationship between an educator and a student, arrest records show. She is due in court on June 4.
