Family says HOA sent cleanup warning after arson at North Texas home
A Midlothian family whose home was set on fire said the arsonist wasn't their only shock. The Wilson family said an unknown person poured gas on their home around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, set it on fire, and ran. Six adults and two small children were inside the house. Midlothian police confirm an arson investigation is ongoing. Later the same day, the arson victims said they got notices from their HOA's property management company, Goddard Management. The notices asked the family to clean up the burned areas hours after the arson happened. "We're on rotation. Someone sleeps, someone gets up to be on watch," Wahsheida Wilson said. "I don't like living like this. Not at all. I don't feel safe." Wahsheida and Darryl Wilson said as they concentrated on family safety and the trauma of the incident. The HOA message seemed insensitive. A representative for Goddard Management told CBS News Texas the company apologizes to the Wilsons for a misunderstanding. According to the representative, the incident occurred during a routine monthly property review. The HOA board for the area where the Wilsons live, according to the representative, wants to help, even to the extent of offering a reward through Crimestoppers. The same board asked the Wilsons for copies of the surveillance video to disseminate to the community to catch the person behind the crime. Darryl Wilson said the area is now clean, thanks to the help of concerned neighbors who also brought over a large cookie that read, "Love over hate."

Darryl, 52, told CBS News, "She came running in there, and she said, 'The house is on fire.' I looked at her. I said, 'Okay, I'm dreaming.' I laid back down. She grabbed me — 'No. No. The house is on fire.' " His wife, Wahsheida Wilson, told the outlet of the mystery figure who appeared to commit the crime, "I was shocked. I'm like, this can't be real. Who would do this? Like, we keep to ourselves." Darryl initially grabbed two cups of water, before getting pots in a bid to put out the flames, CBS News stated. Wahsheida then checked the home's security footage, which was when she saw the alleged perpetrator. Darryl's daughter Mylah Rivera, 25, reposted grabs and footage of the incident on a Facebook group, urging the public to share the post so they could find the person responsible. "I wouldn't wish this on anyone," Rivera told CBS News, adding, "I have a 1-year-old daughter. .., What if my sister wasn't up and witnessed this and it would have got worse, you know?" Everyone had turned their lights off. Everyone was sleeping. The kids were sleeping." Insisting the family is now planning to move, he told the outlet, "My kids don't want to stay. My wife doesn't want to stay. You know, they're traumatized. It's a hurting thing for someone to come to my home and do that. And I feel helpless as a father." The Midlothian Police Department is investigating the case as an arson offense, per Fox 4 News. The family has said they don't recognize the man seen in the security footage. The Midlothian Police Department didn't immediately respond after being contacted by PEOPLE for additional information. PEOPLE has also reached out to Rivera. Read the original article on People

Text message sent by Aussie cult hero before viral, emotional video
Aussie cult hero Archie Wilson's family have shown just how close the family is as they revealed a text message the punter sent before his emotional video spread across the globe. The American football punter, who has been recruited by the University of Nebraska, on Wednesday went viral for showing his emotions in front of cameras in the United States. Wilson, who is celebrating his 19th birthday, was in tears when asked about homesickness living on the other side of the world to his family — dad Lee, mum Jessica and brothers Oscar and Lewis. American fans wrapped their arms around the talented punter with many applauding the teenager for showing his raw emotion. The punter's family on Thursday morning appeared on breakfast TV and showed exactly why homesickness has been such a difficult thing for the talented teenager to deal with. Lee and Jessica told The Today Show they have spoken with their eldest son several times since the video of his press conference melted hearts across the United States. Lee said the family have been assured Archie is happy living abroad and even revealed they received a message from Archie before learning the video of his reply to a reporter was going viral. 'He sent us a message to say he was OK,' Lee said. 'He said to ignore the press conference before we'd actually watched it. So we watched it straight away.' One of his brothers was also seen wiping a tear away during the family's appearance on The Today Show. 'It happened quickly,' Lee said. 'It sort of took us all by surprise when we watch it. The tears started. There was a bit of a family hug and then we sat in quiet and processed it a little bit. 'We miss him a lot, obviously.' Jessica said after his first emotional press conference her son went on to do 'another hour' of speaking to reporters. 'He cleary misses us and the question caught him off guard,' she said. The family will be reunited with Archie in 11 days. It has been 10 weeks since they were last with him — when they toured the facilities at the University in June. Wilson has gambled everything in chasing his dream as a punter in the United States after getting the attention of talent scouts through the Australian-based ProKick academy production line of Aussie punters. The NFL has a long, deep, proud tradition of Aussie punters in the NFL — and Wilson next year hopes he can achieve his dream. For now, though, his dream is to make a strong impression when he suits up for his college football team when their season begins on August 28. Even before making his debut, Wilson is a cult figure with Nebraska 'Cornhuskers' fans. His story has only just begun. Speaking to Sunrise on Thursday morning, Wilson's mum Jessica said Archie was simply missing his family when celebrating his birthday without them for the first time. 'I spoke to him straight away and he was absolutely fine,' she said. 'He got emotional, it was his birthday yesterday/today American time, so I think the emotion of not having us there on his first birthday away just got to him at that one point.' Lee told Channel 7 the family is staying grounded amid the international headlines created by yesterday's presser. 'We're really trying not to get too far ahead of it because there's an enormity of a task at hand he's got to go out and do, and we're trying to just keep the lid on all of it,' Lee said, with their other two sons by their side. 'But it seems to have blown up and got away from everyone. 'It's a bit of a new world for us, we're not those sort of people.' She went on to say the family is 'extremely proud' of their boy. Earlier, Towards the end of his media appearance, Wilson was asked how it felt to be so far away from his family. The question hit the teen as the emotion spilt out in sad scenes. 'That part's hard. I mean … I'm sorry,' Wilson said as the tears began to flow. 'I love them a lot. I got two little brothers, and my mum and dad. That's the tough part about being here. I love them a lot and I miss them.' Moving halfway across the world to chase his dream wasn't easy, but he was already looking forward to his family coming over later this month. 'They know this is what's best for me,' he said. 'It's good I can still talk to them plenty over the phone. They're coming here to see the first few games, so I'm looking forward to that.'

Pick your own is the future, says sunflower farmer
Pick-your-own days are the way forward for one farmer, who said: "I'm simply moving with the times and the demand."Sam Wilson co-owns Stoke Fruit Farm on Hayling Island, Hampshire, with his sister and while they still grow wheat, barley and sweetcorn - and have about 3,500 chickens - they now grow more things people can come and pick weather has also influenced the farm to diversify into growing sunflowers, pumpkins and just one acre of sunflowers 14 years ago, the farm now grows the flowers across 50 acres because "there is such demand for pick your own", said Mr Wilson. The farm opened to the public for pick-your-own days eight years ago."People like to pick their own and have a fun day out," said Mr sunflowers can grow tall and with faces "up to 18ins across", he said, adding: "In the morning, when you come out really early, the heads will ping against a moody sky and it does look magical." He said they do not have any links with supermarkets and everything they produce goes straight into the farm shop, which was first set up by his grandfather."In those days, he had a lot of market gardening going on, like growing vegetables," he said."Back in the 80s we had three green grocery shops, which have fallen by the wayside."We still have the farm shop on the main road and that's doing a really good trade."Mr Wilson said he was "really pleased" people were "engaging with us farmers more and I encourage that because we are the people that grow the food". He said farmers know weather will affect crops but said this year had been "particularly challenging because it's been so hot and dry"."We are having to diversify as there is an awful lot of pressure on farmers and that means getting people to come here to pick their own and have a day out," said the farmer."It is the future and the change we are seeing in farming. "I'd like to be able to just produce crops for selling, as we have in the past, but you can't live in the past, you have to move with what's going on. "There's an awful lot of pressure on our lands and on farmers, as long as we are putting back into the soil and we're not robbing it."
