Valley teams invited to Browns equipment giveaway
BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Browns hosted an equipment giveaway to support local Northeast Ohio high school football with teams from the Valley being invited. Watch above for interviews with a Valley coach and two Browns players who volunteered to help! Niles, Cardinal Mooney, and Warren G Harding football coaches were some of the participants. Over 25 plus high school teams were invited. The Browns gave away hundreds of shirts, shoes, game gear, practice equipment and more. 'I'm excited that we were chosen,' said Niles head football coach Jim Parry. 'We're all on a tight budget, so any time you get an opportunity to benefit your program from something like this, you're going to take advantage of it.' Browns Linebacker Winston Reid and cornerback Anthony Kendall both helped coaches load up trucks. 'It's amazing, man, it's a great reminder from where we came from,' said Kendall. 'I know when I was in high school, I would be grateful for something like this as well.' 'Especially with the brand Cleveland Browns on it and having that in your high school, just giving back, it's a good opportunity for them,' said Reid. Many coaches brought along players to help load up box trucks to bring back to their high schools. 'Exciting because we get to do more for, working out more, more accessories for when we're on the field, doing stuff for summer,' said Niles sophomore football player Rylin Tvaroch. 'It just makes everything easier.' This equipment giveaway is done every year by the Browns to support local high school football programs in the Valley and across Northeast Ohio.
