Nova star Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald confronted by fan live on air after the 'hungover' radio host was rude to her at a party: 'Disappointed'

Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald has been confronted by a fan live on air after he refused to take a photo with her after a party. The fan, named Joanne, called into Nova's Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie show on Tuesday when the hosts requested stories on celebrity encounters. Joanne said she approached Fitzy after a party and asked for a selfie - only to be rebuffed. 'Oh well I was a fan of his for ages... this tall, handsome man, and we were at a party, and I asked him if I could have a photo, and he said no!' Joanne explained. 'What! Who was it?' Fitzy's co-host Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli asked, to which Joanne replied, 'Your friend, Fitzy!' Fitzy was shocked by the confession, replying, 'Give me a break. I'm always accommodating Joanne, are you serious?' 'I'm serious. You were probably a bit hungover at the time as we all were,' Joanne said with a laugh. 'This was ages ago, we were both at the same function place in Terry Hills,' she added. 'When the party finished we were all in the foyer there. But you made up for it in the end.' Fitzy asked: 'How did I make up for it? Because I'm really disappointed in myself!' All's well that ends well, Joanne assured the worried radio star, explaining she later got a selfie with him at another event. 'Because I got a photo with you both when Wippa used to have his running club at Hyde Park!' she said. Ryan became a household name by appearing on Channel 10's Big Brother back in 2004. The 48-year-old recently revealed the surprising amount he was paid to appear on the then controversial reality show. He debunked rumours the cast were raking in the big bucks during his time on the ratings juggernaut. 'A lot of people thought that we got paid a motza when we were on Big Brother. It was $100 a day,' Ryan revealed. While this may seem a pittance, even by 2004 standards, Ryan added that he wasn't perturbed by his paycheck given his lack of expenditures during his reality show stint. 'This is the thing. I was in there for three months and you're not spending that money on anything so it's a long time. It's a good little whack when you get out,' he said. Ryan, who finished fourth on the show's fourth season behind winner Trevor Butler and runners-up Bree Amer and Paul Dyer, said there were some fringe benefits thrown in to soften the blow of his meagre money. 'Back in 2004 when I was on Big Brother, I mean I finished fourth, but I left the show with a Mitsubishi Lancer, a trip to New Caledonia, I think I got a TAG Heuer watch, which I've got somewhere around here,' he said.

‘Disappointed': Ryan ‘Fitzy' Fitzgerald called out on-air over fan interaction

A national radio star was awkwardly caught off guard on Nova's Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie today after a listener called him out live on-air. Ryan Fitzgerald, better known as Fitzy, was exposed by a listener this morning after she called up during a segment about celebrities refusing to take pictures with fans. It turns out Fitzy had previously rejected her when she politely asked if she could snap a picture with him years ago. 'Did a celebrity refuse a photo when he was talking about now being a dad and how different it is? And people come up to him all the time, and obviously they want a photo … Joanne... who said no to the photo?' quizzed Wippa. Joanne then shared her story, recalling when she had met Fitzy at a party and had decided to pluck up the courage to ask him for a picture. But sadly, the interaction didn't go quite as well as she had hoped. 'Oh well I was a fan of his for ages... this tall, handsome man, and we were at a party, and I asked him if I could have a photo, and he said, No! 'What! Who was it?' insisted Wippa, to which Joanne bluntly replied: 'Your friend, Fitzy!' Shocked that his name was mentioned, a confused Fitzy questioned whether Joanne was joking at first. 'Give me a break. I'm always accommodating Joanne, are you serious?' insisted the radio star. 'I'm serious...' she laughed. 'You were probably a bit hungover at the time as we all were...' 'This was ages ago, we were both at the same function place in Terry the party finished we were all the foyer Williams said yes to a photo with us but you made up for it in the end.' Fitzy then interjected: 'How did I make up for it? Because I'm really disappointed in myself!' Joanne insisted it was all water under the bridge in the end as she eventually ended up getting a picture with the radio star on another day. 'Because I got a photo with you both when Wippa used to have his running club at Hyde Park!' she said.

Radio star Tim Ross reveals Queen Elizabeth II's shock role in helping invent Aerogard insect repellant

During Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie's Nova breakfast show on Tuesday, comedian Tim 'Rosso' Ross revealed an unexpected backstory behind the insect repellent Aussies swear by. The product was revealed originally to be made for sheep, repurposed for soldiers during war, and later used by none other than Queen Elizabeth II on her first royal tour of Australia. 'So we all know Aerogard… there was a gentleman in the late 1930s who was creating a fly repellent for sheep,' Rosso began. 'Then the guys go to war in the 1940s and they're in the Pacific… they need an insect repellent so that they don't get malaria. So this gentleman changes the formula a bit, and it works.' But the twist? After the war, the inventor went back to making it for sheep, until the Queen came to town. 'During her 1953 tour, there was concern about her being seen on TV swatting flies. They ring up this guy and say, 'Do you still have that lotion from the war?' And they gave it to the Queen,' Rosso explained. 'A journalist noticed she wasn't swatting flies… and it came out she was wearing something developed by the CSIRO.' That led to Mortein ringing the CSIRO and asking for the formula, which, in true mid-century public service style, they gave away for free. The result? Aerogard was born and mass-produced, but the original inventor walked away with nothing. 'He got nothing out of it?' Wippa asked in disbelief. 'And I can't even remember his name,' Rosso replied. The humorous moment ended with Wippa joking, 'Imagine if their slogan was 'If it's good enough for our sheep, it's good enough for the Queen.'' It's a uniquely Aussie origin story that's equal parts innovation, war-time improvisation and royal coincidence, and now you'll never look at that blue can the same way again.

Bizarre rumour about Ben Fordham confirmed as radio rival Wippa reveals odd item he found in 2GB host's office

A bizarre rumour about Ben Fordham has been confirmed by the 2GB host after his radio rival Wippa made the shock claim on his Nova show Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Wednesday. Co-host Wippa, 45, revealed that Ben, 48, has a 'fold-down bed' made of mahogany in his office. 'I think I'm allowed to say this...' the radio host began, before diving into a description of Ben's workspace. 'You walk into the office, there's a boardroom table, a pretty serious mahogany desk and then there's huge cabinetry - like mahogany cabinetry that's made at the end of the room - with a fold-down bed! 'Is that public knowledge, Tom (Ivey)?' he asked the executive producer. 'Well it is now,' Tom quipped back, describing the segment as an 'Architectural Digest' room tour. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Get Fordo to do a tour of the fold-down bed,' Wippa joked. Ben confirmed the claim to Daily Mail Australia, joking that he's concerned of a 'security breach' if Wippa is running around the halls of 2GB. Ben said he inherited the office from former Breakfast presenter Alan Jones. He added that 'any mahogany furniture or crystal glassware' was there before he arrived. However, Ben that he had never slept in the much-talked-about bed. In response to Wippa's request for a tour, Ben said he was more than happy to show the bed to Wippa and the Nova crew so that Wippa can 'jump in and have a snooze'. 'If they're happy to promote my radio show, I'm more than happy to give them a tour,' he joked/. 'I reckon Wippa may need the bed at some stage because once his wife Lisa realises that she can do better, Wippa may find himself homeless and in need of somewhere to sleep. 'So please let him know that there'll always be a bed for him at 2GB,' he said. According to Ben, the kitted-out office also has a bathroom and a kitchen. 'If it wasn't for my wife and children, I would just move into the Allen Jones office and stay there. 'But no, I'm needed at home,' he said.
