Wisconsin Public Service hosts 29th annual ‘Solar Olympics' in Oshkosh for nearly 200 students

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – It's not Winter, nor is it 2026, but the Olympics were on and ready on Wednesday morning in Oshkosh, albeit a much different version of the Games. Wisconsin Public Service hosted its 29th annual Solar Olympics competition for about 200 students across northeast and north central Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Schools in Neenah host day of activities for students with disabilities Students from the following high schools participated in the events: Ashwaubenon High School Elcho High School Green Bay West High School Kiel High School Marathon High School Marinette High School Mishicot High School Northland Lutheran High School Pembine High School St. Thomas Aquinas Academy Three Lakes High School Valders High School Wausau West High School West De Pere High School The students competed in 13 different events, each providing a hands-on chance to demonstrate their knowledge of solar energy. Students were awarded in Olympic fashion with either gold, silver or bronze, with the top three medal-winning teams earning recognition. Wisconsin Public Service wrapping up historic power restoration efforts after ice storms

(WFRV) – After ice storms plagued many Wisconsinites last weekend, knocking out power for more than 190,000 households, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) says it's almost done with the effort. According to a release, over 190,000 people lost power from the 'destructive snow, ice and wind storm over the weekend.' 74th Appleton Flag Day Parade set to honor both U.S. Marine Corps and Navy for 250th birthday WPS thanked its customers for their patience and said that field workers throughout the Midwest are helping through the restoration efforts, which the company said is one of the largest in its history. All customers who can receive their service are expected to have it restored later tonight (Thursday, April 3). Kimberly High School's athletic trainer returns after life-altering accident Some customers may have damage to equipment that could prevent power reconnection, and if so, the customer must hire an electrician or qualified contractor to repair this before reconnection is possible.
