Amanda Owen opens up about how she wanted 'non scripted, no scene set up and accurate portrayal' of her family on new series of Our Farm Next Door - after locking horns with ex husband Clive
Amanda Owen has opened up about how she wanted a 'real' representation of her family on new series of her More4's Our Farm Next Door - just days after she branded her ex husband Clive a 'frustrating and horrible thing' in a dramatic fallout. The Owen family, consisting of Amanda, 50, Clive, 70, and their nine kids, have been on our screens for a number years, after opening their farm up to cameras on Channel 5 's Our Yorkshire Farm in 2018. The programme wrapped up in 2022, following on from the pair's separation after 22 years of marriage, and fans were over the moon when Our Farm Next Door was announced. The second series premiered last month and has seen the former couple navigate their new relationship, including the various ups and downs following their split. On Thursday English shepherdess Amanda took to social media to praise Channel 4 and production Wise Owl Films for helping create the programme and how her family has been portrayed. Amanda wrote on Instagram: 'Whilst on the theme of people behind the scenes involved in the renovation project it's important to acknowledge the talented folk who create the tv series Our Farm Next Door. 'Reality appears to be used very loosely in many instances but we wanted a non scripted, no scene set up, accurate portrayal of the realities of farming, families, friends complete with the flare ups, feuds and **** ups! *click bait provided* 'To be given this opportunity by @channel4 & @wiseowlfilms & to find ourselves working with a dedicated, devoted and it has to be said fearless team & crew has been brilliant. 'Nothing fazes them, be it snow drifts, incessant rain, ten people all talking at same time, swear words, incoherent mumblings & constant distractions they have taken it all in their stride & somehow managed to make sense of it all without going completely mad. 'They ignored all warnings of what not to work with, children & animals & have made what I reckon to be an aesthetically pleasing, gentle series that represents us, quietly explores the rich heritage of the area & what shaped our countryside. 'All whilst championing the often overlooked craftsmen & farmers who retain the knowledge, skills & understanding that was there long before our generation rebranded it & call it our own. 'Sustainable, regenerative, self sufficient , simple living, foods, comforts & a strong work ethic. 'I know that there were many less pleasant aspects & terrible hardships endured but we are fortunate that we can pick which elements of the past we take away & where we can make improvements. 'There's one overriding element that jumps out from the diary and that is that some aspects of life never change & it's these human, relatable diary entries that resonate with me the most. 'So thank you's going out to Paul, Jayne, Mark, Rebecca & Lindsay & all at @wiseowlfilms @channel4 & ultimately @jocantello1 who has never waivered or wobbled when I most certainly have.' Finishing the lengthy post, she joked: 'Don't worry, this is not an Oscar acceptance so I'm not to thank the farms namesake Anthony Clarkson.. he's dead.' Many rushed to the comments section to share the love. One said: 'Absolutely loving seeing you all back on our screens.' 'You have a great way with words Amanda, I'm absolutely loving this series,I often feel jealous of the wonderful places you live and work in, there is so much history, and you are adding to it with the loving way you are bringing that cottage back to life.' 'Well said ! It's a brilliant show , love watching you all.' 'We need programmes like this to take us away from grim reality of world news. I curl up on sofa & turn up volume & enjoy. Thank you!' 'Perfectly and honourably said.' It comes after Amanda branded her ex Clive a 'frustrating and horrible thing' as the pair locked horns over his 'unbearable' behaviour in the wake of his surgery on Tuesday's instalment of Our Farm Next Door. As viewers will know, in the first episode of the brand new season, Clive underwent a hip operation and he has been trying to recover from his surgery. And it appeared that there was a little bit of tension between the former couple, who broke up in 2022 after 22 years of marriage, while they were busy grooming their sheep at Ravenseat Farm, which is next door to Anty John. In one scene, Amanda said to him: 'Amanda brutally told her ex husband: 'You have been unbearable.' She recalled how at one point he was sitting in the kitchen in his underwear and said: 'You are a really frustrating, horrible thing.' Days before Amanda faced questions over a 'disgusting and disturbing' video of her son Reuben that she posted on Instagram.

The country life saga is set to return with Amanda and Clive – both initially famous for Our Yorkshire Farm – gracing our screens once more in a fresh chapter of the spin-off series, premiering on More4 on 29 April. This forthcoming series follows the family's journey as they breathe new life into an abandoned property nearby. With anticipation growing, production company Wise Owl Films teased: "The hard work there's also plenty of laughs in store." They continue, promising: "Balmy sunny days, a winter wonderland, goats in coats and the return of Tony the Pony as we enjoy Summer to Spring in the new series of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids." Social media channels are buzzing with eager comments, with one fan posting, "I'm so looking forward to this new series," and another adding, "Great to see the date of the start of the second series of this brilliant show." Due to the popularity of Our Yorkshire Farm, audiences were captivated by Amanda and Clive's eventful lives and their large brood, which consisted of Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine, and Nancy. However, amid all the excitement, it's not forgotten that in 2022, the couple shared the somber news of ending their 22-year marriage. Fans might have been gutted about the split, but the dynamic duo have kept their friendship alive, continuing to collaborate professionally and successfully share parenting responsibilities, reports Leeds Live. Over the past three years, Clive and Amanda haven't shied away from discussing their separation publicly, making individual TV appearances to talk through the dissolution of their marriage. On ITV's Lorraine, Amanda spoke candidly about her ongoing friendship with Clive: "We've got a lot of room and a lot of distractions. First and foremost we're farming. "It's yet another diversification, we have our fingers in so many pies that it's just unbelievable. There is enough work to go around times a zillion." "It's tough trying to spin all the plates, but that's why this programme is relatable, that's why we've been so popular with viewers. You don't always get the happy ending you want, but it's how you negotiate it." Our Farm Next Door returns to More4 at 9pm on Tuesday, 29 April, and will be available to stream on Channel 4.
