With You and The Rain – Season 1 Episode 6 Recap & Review
The Cat and the Pumpkins Episode 6 of With You and The Rain starts with a confused You when Fuji's twin brother arrives at her house. They are so identical that You gets dizzy. Then, after a while, we find he's there to help put together a piece of furniture for Fuji. When Fuji steps out, You and her brother go for a walk where they meet the vet and a lady questioning him about what kind of an animal You is. Being You's favourite vet, he agrees that You is a dog, making You feel thankful and affectionate towards him. Back home, Fuji's brother, his wife, and her father leave, while Fuji is to take care of his brother's cat. You, having a new playmate, is excited and puts together a welcome party for the cat, but the cat ignores him and instead lies down separately. Fuji suggests that he gives the cat time since everybody has their own rhythm, but You tells Fuji that he wants them to be friends, just like him and Fuji. There ensues You's various antics to please the cat until Fuji puts up a barricade to separate them, acknowledging that You's acting a bit too pushy. Seeing the divider, the cat pulls it down and later picks up one of the toys that You offered her, lying down with it. You, getting the signal, lies down beside her in camaraderie. Many days later, Fuji visits her brother's house where we find that her sister-in-law is expecting. You and the cat meet again but remain awkward. In the meantime, Fuji and her sister-in-law do a jack-o'-lantern pumpkin carving activity. Her sister-in-law then shares her worries about whether she'd be able to return to work or what would happen as time passes. While they muse over this, You ends up bringing the cat another toy and a floor pillow, rekindling their friendship as the cat responds affectionately to him. The awkwardness between them goes away as both of them sleep next to each other. Smiling at this, Fuji replies that everything would be exciting to her sister-in-law's worries as the episode ends. The Episode Review With You and the Rain continues to be as adorable as ever, once again blending light-hearted charm with a quiet, thoughtful undercurrent. This episode delights in You's endless, and sometimes over-the-top, attempts to win over his new friend. The playful back-and-forth captures the timeless 'cat versus dog' dynamic: two completely different personalities, seemingly opposite in nature, yet capable of finding common ground when patience and kindness step in. Beneath the comedy, there's a subtle warmth to the storytelling. One of the most striking moments comes when Fuji listens to her sister-in-law's worries. As a cloud drifts over the sun, the light in the scene softens, mirroring the shift in mood. The anime's signature style keeps this transition gentle, never losing its comforting tone. In the background, You and the cat quietly rebuild their friendship, a parallel that turns tender just as the sunlight returns, lifting the mood again. By the time the episode closes, the initial awkwardness between the two animals melts away, leaving us with a scene of simple companionship.
