Meanwhile, the "big five" nations, which are France, UK, Italy, Spain and Germany, have skipped the semi-final part of the competition and have received an automatic qualification for the final because they provide extra financial support to Eurovision. Who is Claude? While Claude may be young, the Congolese-Dutch singer has already garnered success in the music industry with over a hundred million streams and countless sold-out shows to his name, according to Eurovision's website. ‌ His breakthrough came in 2022 when he released his debut single Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot). He won the 3FM Award for 'Best Newcomer', was named '3FM Talent', and Qmusic crowned him as 'Best Artist of the Year'. In 2024, he released his debut album, Parler Français, and has toured all over Europe in sold-out shows. After Eurovision, the artist will be heading to the Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands in June. ‌ His song, C'est La Vie, is said to be a "tribute to a parent" and in Claude's case, it's for his mother. According to Wiwibloggs, in a recent press release he said: "As a little boy and throughout my youth, she taught me to see the positive in the things you experience in life, even when you experience setbacks. "Even though it looks very dark for a moment, you should always focus on the bright side. That is exactly the message I want to convey. As mentioned on the Eurovision website, Louane is a big name in France - both for her singing and acting abilities. She competed in the French version of The Voice when she was just 16 and won the César Award for the film La Famille Bélier, where she played the lead role of Paula, who is the only member of her family who can hear and speak. ‌ The singer has enjoyed sold-out tours all over Europe and received prestigious awards such as NRJ Music Awards and Victoires de la Musique. Her ballad maman has reached over six million streams on Spotify. As some may know, 'maman' means 'mother' in French, and is said to be a tribute to Louane's mother, who sadly passed away when the singer was 17. ‌ According to Wiwibloggs, the song is "one of the most personal and emotional songs in the contest: an open letter to her late mother, whom she lost when she was just a teenager". Manjimup-raised pop singer Marty Zambotto, better known as Go-Jo, has walked the turquoise carpet at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland. The 29-year-old is scheduled to kick off the second semi-final with a performance of creamy pop banger Milkshake Man in the early hours of Friday morning, WA time. Zambotto promised 'tricks and treats' during his three minutes on stage, as well as a giant blender and at least one costume change. The now Sydney-based West Aussie said he looked for to getting fans to 'come into the world of the Milkshake Man'. Walking the turquoise with the 37 delegates on May 11, Zambotto told Eurovision website Wiwibloggs that the song, written with Brisbane sibling band Sheppard, was 'all about confidence and self-expression'. The former East Perth footballer has gone from living off-grid on his family's farm near Manjimup to an intense schedule of press and promotional performances across Europe in the lead-up to Eurovision. The first semifinal will be held on Tuesday, with Zambotto performing alongside favourites Austria, Finland and Malta in the second semifinal on May 15. The Australian representative is expected to make it through to the grand final on May 17.
