City of Lubbock cancels irrigation request after water pump station repaired
The city of Lubbock on Thursday afternoon cancelled a request for water customers to temporarily suspend outdoor irrigation use after repairs were conducted at a pumping station.
Earlier in the day, the city of Lubbock had put out an appeal asking customers not using well water to avoid outdoor irrigation for the time being after crews identified an operational issue at one of the city's large pump stations that impacted water inflow to that facility, according to a city news release.
However, this has been repaired, so citizens and businesses not on a private well, can resume normal outdoor irrigation usage, according to the city. The station and specific issue were not immediately identified. The issue also temporarily impacted water customers in Wolfforth, which is connected to Lubbock's system. Although the incident resulted in a temporary reduction in water pressure, there was never a need to request a boil water notice, according to the city.
For those not on a private well, the city asks that you adhere to the city's summer irrigation schedule.
