'WWE Raw' Adds Top 'NXT' Star to Main Roster Days Before MITB
'WWE Raw' Adds Top 'NXT' Star to Main Roster Days Before MITB originally appeared on Athlon Sports. WWE has wasted little time calling up a huge "NXT" star to join the "Monday Night Raw" roster. Recently, Cory Hays of PW Nexus reported that Stephanie Vaquer would be on her way to "WWE Raw," while Jordynne Grace would be sent to "Friday Night SmackDown." Advertisement It was later reported that Ricky Saints is also expected to make his way to the main roster. As it turns out, WWE is bringing up one of those stars to the "Monday Night Raw" brand. In a new social media post just before Friday's episode of "SmackDown," the red brand's general manager, Adam Pearce, announced that Vaquer is now a full-time member of "WWE Raw." Pearce also revealed that Vaquer will share the ring with Liv Morgan and Ivy Nile in a triple threat MITB qualifier. Monday night actually won't be Vaquer's debut on "WWE Raw." She first appeared for the brand during the April 21 episode. She took on reigning WWE Women's World Champion Iyo Sky in a match that did not have a winner. The following week, Vaquer pinned Nile in a singles match. Advertisement Vaquer recently lost the "NXT" Women's Championship to Jayce Jayne in a shocker. It soon became clear that the decision to have "La Primera" removed from the top female prize in "NXT" was made to bring her to the main roster. During an appearance on "Busted Open After Dark," Vaquer said that she chose to be a part of the "NXT" brand to start her run on WWE TV. The seasoned veteran explained that she wanted to adjust to the American style of televised wrestling before being in the limelight. Tiffany Stratton roasts legends on SmackDown; Alexa Bliss hits back!
Tiffany Stratton and Alexa Bliss (Image via WWE) The road to WWE Money in the Bank just got a lot more explosive. Tiffany Stratton, the current WWE Women's Champion, didn't hold back when she grabbed the mic on SmackDown. With the ladder match drawing near, Stratton used her moment to deliver a fiery message, but it quickly turned into a storm. Two major names from WWE's past, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair weren't too happy with what she had to say, and things got personal in a hurry. Stratton's confidence was off the charts as she reminded fans of how far she's come. She talked about her huge leap from being a rookie with hype last year to now holding the Women's Championship. She made sure everyone remembered that she beat top stars like Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair, and warned that whoever wins the upcoming Money in the Bank match better think twice before cashing in on her. Alexa Bliss brings the heat into the conversation, Charlotte Flair wants it all Tiffany Stratton's promo was going smoothly until Alexa Bliss showed up. Bliss didn't just return to say hi, she came with a warning. She reminded Stratton and the crowd that she's a five-time Women's Champion and a past Money in the Bank winner. Bliss pointed out that Stratton's title win was a copy of what she did years ago. She even hinted that she might cash in on Stratton if she wins again. That wasn't the end. Charlotte Flair then walked out, getting loud boos from the crowd. Still, she stood firm and told Stratton that while she's done almost everything in WWE, the Money in the Bank briefcase is the one thing missing from her career. Flair made it clear that she's not just looking for another title; she's after the spotlight, too. Stratton looked both veterans in the eye and made a statement that instantly grabbed attention. Tiffany Stratton's 'vintage' line sparks reactions Tiffany Stratton hit back hard with a bold insult, saying: 'You guys are a little too vintage for me.' This line was aimed at Bliss and Flair's age and long-time careers in WWE. Stratton, just 26 years old, made it clear that she sees herself as the future. She told them they might've been the standard in the past, but now she is the upgrade. Her words left a strong impact, but they also caused a backlash. Alexa Bliss quickly responded online. She posted on social media: 'funny being called 'vintage' by the cheap imitation #Smackdown #BlissInTheBank' Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair tried to qualify for the Money in the Bank match but failed. Giulia won the match by pinning Zelina Vega. Bliss, on the other hand, has already qualified. She'll join Roxanne Perez, Rhea Ripley, and Giulia in the ladder match, with two spots still open. Tiffany Stratton may be the champion for now, but with legends and new stars coming for her, the pressure is rising fast. 'Tiffy Time' might be ticking toward trouble. Player anger as Blackburn likely to withdraw from WSL 2 due to financial reasons
Blackburn's place in the Women's Super League 2 next season is in major doubt after their players were informed on Tuesday morning that the club is highly unlikely to provide the funding to meet the division's new minimum licence requirement. No decision has yet been made by the club for next season but the Blackburn defender Niamh Murphy wrote on X that the players had been warned the club's mind was already '99%' made up. Multiple sources have told the Guardian that the club have been given a deadline to confirm by next week whether or not they wish to participate, or face demotion. Related: Hemp, Greenwood and Stanway back in major Euros boost for England The situation is understood to have left the players and staff anxious, angry and feeling like they are in a state of limbo, while they await a formal decision. Some of the squad have posted their concerns on social media, with the Scotland youth international Murphy writing: 'We, Blackburn Rovers women's first team, were made aware there is a 99% chance that the club's owners won't be financially supporting the team next season. 'Us players and staff deserve far better than what we've experienced in recent seasons. We've once again been left in the dark, waiting to see if the owners will have the decency to do what's best for their players, staff and women's football.' Simon Parker's team finished 10th, second from bottom, in the women's second tier this term, five points clear of danger, despite operating on what was understood on a comparatively low playing budget. The second tier – which was known previously as the Women's Championship – was renamed on Monday as WSL 2. This summer, the minimum requirements to take part in the division are being increased in a bid to raise minimum standards for the players involved, to an extent whereby it is understood second-tier women's clubs will now have to essentially operate a full‑time, professional operation. The list of criteria is believed to include requirements for clubs to commit to appointing the following staff within one month of next season starting: a head of women's football, marketing manager, head coach, assistant coach, physiotherapist or sports therapist, doctor, a strength and conditioning coach, a goalkeeping coach and several people in specific safeguarding and player-welfare roles. Blackburn played all of their home women's matches at Ewood Park this season and their former players include the England internationals Georgia Stanway, Ella Toone and Keira Walsh and have a proud history of developing young players. The league will be keen to avoid a repeat of the situation last summer when Reading withdrew from the second tier at the end of June – for financial reasons – at such a relatively late point in the summer that there was deemed to be insufficient time before pre-season to begin a process of promoting a replacement club, which led to the division including only 11 teams this season. Related: Reading Women ask to leave Championship and aim to play in fifth tier A source told the Guardian that one reason Blackburn have been given a deadline of next week by which to make their decision is to avoid another 11th‑hour withdrawal and ensure there is time for a contingency plan, should Blackburn decide to pull out. The Blackburn goalkeeper Alex Brooks shared the same message posted on X by Murphy, which added: 'Whilst this season may have looked successful to others, we have once again avoided relegation despite having the smallest budget. This group has worked relentlessly hard all season for so little reward.' If they withdraw, Blackburn would not be the only club to decide not to fund a WSL 2 licence this summer, after third-tier Wolves did not submit a bid for promotion despite finishing second in their division. On Monday, the Wolves chairman, Jeff Shi, promised to apply next season instead.

London City Lionesses fined £15,000 for approaching player through DMs
London City Lionesses have been fined £15,000 for making an approach to a Southampton player via social media, without her club's permission. The club newly promoted to the Women's Super League (WSL) admitted to the Football Association's charge, which related to an attempt to sign the player from their Women's Championship rivals during last summer's transfer window. The player's name was redacted from the published written findings of an independent regulatory commission. The hearing took place in March 2025. Related: Blackburn forced to withdraw from WSL 2 on 'sad day for women's football' The regulatory commission found that on 9 August 2024, London City Lionesses' managing director, Sarah Batters, sent the player a message saying: 'Hiya – just so you know, we've made the approach and have spoken to [redacted name] and they are open to sell … there's the question of the fee, but what would your salary expectations be? Obviously I would love to make this happen!!' That message came three hours before Southampton responded to an earlier email received from London City's recruitment manager, with Southampton explaining in their reply that they 'won't be engaging in conversations with you regarding a transfer', with Southampton's email adding 'we have received interest from a number of clubs and some are prepared to meet the release fee' for the player. London City's recruitment manager had explained in an email on 6 August that they would not be able to pay the release clause in her contract, the unspecific price of which had been clarified with her agent in a phone call earlier on that day. The hearing also heard that Batters had contacted the player via social media in July to ascertain the contact details for her agent. The regulatory commission, which noted that London City had apologised and cooperated with the disciplinary process, also revealed that London City had said they had been prepared to pay £150,000 to sign the player, and that sum was taken into account when calculating their £15,000 fine. Next season London City Lionesses will be the first fully independent women's club to compete in the WSL, with no affiliation to a men's side. They are owned by the American businesswoman Michele Kang, who also owns the recently renamed French champions OL Lyonnes and the US-based club Washington Spirit. They are understood to have paid a second-tier record transfer fee to sign the striker Isobel Goodwin from Sheffield United last September, believed to be in excess of £100,000. She went on to be the Women's Championship's top scorer this past season.
