Morocco's Women's Futsal Team to Face Angola in Women's Futsal AFCON Semifinals

Rabat — Morocco's national women's futsal team will lock horns with Angola in the semifinals of the Women's Futsal AFCON on Monday. The tournament continues until April 30 in Rabat. Morocco and Angola both finished first in their respective groups during the pool phase — Morocco in Group A and Angola in Group B. Angola clinched Egypt with a well-fought 3-1 win. The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. Morocco time at the indoor hall of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat. The other semifinal will feature Tanzania, which topped Group C, against Cameroon, which qualified as the best second-place team among the three groups. This match takes place earlier on the same day at 5:00 p.m. The Atlas Lionesses secured on April 24 a spot in the tournament's semifinals, overwhelming Cameroon in an intense AFCON futsal showdown. Morocco secured a decisive 7-1 victory, leaving their opponents struggling to respond throughout the match. 'Every match has its strategy and management. Today (Thursday), the national team showed a different face, and we proved that we're ready for all scenarios,' Morocco's coach Adil Sayeh told reporters after his team's convincing win. 'We showed that we have players of a high level,' Sayeh continued, thanking the team's players for their rigorous work and commitment, as well as their 'fighting spirit, their discipline, and their patience.' The coach applauded his team's performance, saying: 'The players showed the African continent that we have a world-class futsal team. God willing, our eyes are on the title, but we'll take it step by step.' He showed his readiness for a victory in the African tournament. 'Today we finished the group stage, and now our focus is on the semifinal.' Sayeh stressed the importance of their Monday's match, noting they 'have to think about the semifinal, because that's the match that will qualify us for the World Cup. After that, we'll think about the final, God willing.' The two finalists of this African Cup will qualify for the Women's Futsal World Cup, scheduled to take place in the Philippines from November 27 to December 7, 2025. Running from April 22–30, 2025, the tournament marks the first-ever official continental competition for women's futsal under CAF's banner. Tags: 2025 Futsal AFCONfutsalMorocco Futsalwomen futsal

Women's Futsal AFCON: Guinea and Egypt Exit the Tournament

Egypt and Guinea delivered a great performance on Saturday, 26 April at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex but ultimately to no avail. The two sides played out to a thrilling 3–3 draw on Match Day 3 of Group B at the Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, a result that confirmed their elimination from the competition. Knowing that qualification was still mathematically possible with a win combined with an unlikely set of other results, both teams started the match at full throttle. Egypt struck first, taking advantage of a Guinea defence that was still disorganised. But the Syli Féminin, showing great determination, quickly drew level, reigniting the intensity of the contest. The match then turned into a gripping end-to-end battle, with every attack looking capable of changing the outcome. Egypt, showing greater technical polish, regained the lead with a well-worked team move. Yet Guinea, true to their fighting spirit, managed to equalise again — and even briefly took the lead early in the second half. It was a dramatic turnaround that kept the small crowd in the stands on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, it was the Pharaohs who had the final say, grabbing a late equaliser in the dying minutes of an exciting match. Despite sharing the points, the result was not enough for either side to claim a spot in the semifinals. Angola, dominant throughout Group B, finished top and secured their place in the final four. Already qualified as well, Morocco topped Group A, fuelled by strong home support and a disciplined, cohesive team. Under the tournament's rules, only the winners of each of the three groups are guaranteed a semifinal spot, with the fourth ticket reserved for the best runner-up an arrangement that intensified the battle among the contenders. The Women's Futsal AFCON carries historic importance: it offers the two finalists' qualification for the inaugural FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup, set to take place in the Philippines from 27 November to 7 December. For Egypt and Guinea, their Moroccan campaign ends on a bittersweet note. Both teams showed flashes of quality and fighting spirit but lacked the consistency and efficiency needed to join the continent's elite. A sense of unfinished business that should fuel their future growth.

After this breathtaking triumph on Thursday evening in Rabat, Morocco's women's futsal team booked a place in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The win, Morocco's second in as many matches, confirmed the team's dominance in Group A and secured their ticket to the next round. They had already brushed past Namibia 8-1 in the tournament opener on Tuesday. Backed by a lively home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, the Moroccan side showed control, confidence, and hunger. From the opening minutes, the Atlas Lionesses played with intent, keeping the ball moving and pressing high to disrupt Cameroon's composure. Seynabou Kane, the ambitious captain of the Teranga Lionesses futsal team

Published: Saturday, 19 April 2025 At just 19 years old, Seynabou Kane is already establishing herself as a key figure in women's futsal in Senegal. Captain of the national women's team, she is set to take part in the first edition of the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be held in Morocco from 22 to 30 April. A path forged at Dakar Sacré-Cœur Originally from Dakar, Seynabou Kane developed her game at the Dakar Sacré-Cœur club, a structure known for its commitment to football development. It was there that she crossed paths with Aïssata Seyck, former captain of the Teranga Lionesses and now assistant coach of the national futsal team. The influence of Aïssata Seyck on Seynabou Kane's career is undeniable. The former captain passed on values of leadership, discipline, and tenacity to the young player. 'I was at Dakar Sacré-Cœur for two or three years, and Aïssata was my first coach. I found her again here in the national team, and it makes me really happy,' says Seynabou. An ambitious captain Despite her young age, Seynabou Kane did not hesitate to take on the captaincy of the national team — a role she embraces with determination. 'I want us to win the AFCON,' she says confidently. For her, the competition is more than just a tournament; it represents a chance to make Senegalese women's futsal shine and showcase the talent of the Lionesses on the continental stage. According to Seynabou, Senegal's strengths lie in their youth and technical quality: 'We have many talented young players, and we rely on our technical skill.' This could be a key advantage in a tournament where agility and precision are essential. A calm mindset ahead of AFCON As the Women's Futsal AFCON approaches, Seynabou Kane and her teammates are entering the tournament with a calm and focused mindset. 'We are comfortable. We play, we enjoy ourselves, and there is talent in this team.' These words reflect a strong sense of collective confidence and cohesion — both vital to overcoming the challenges ahead. As a young captain, Seynabou also wants to inspire other young girls who dream of a career in futsal. 'There is a real opportunity for us. Maybe in the future, we can play in Europe. That's also my dream.' A World Cup ambition The continental tournament also serves as a gateway to the Women's Futsal World Cup. 'Playing in a World Cup means a lot to me. It means flying the Senegalese flag high and showing how far we've come.' Qualifying for the World Cup would be a huge milestone for this rising generation of Senegalese futsal players. If the Lionesses manage to win the AFCON, Seynabou already knows how she'll celebrate: 'I will run from my house to the palace.' A powerful image that speaks to her pride in representing Senegal and the significance of this moment for her and her team. One thing is clear: with a leader like Seynabou Kane, Senegal has every reason to believe in its chances.
