Morocco Take Top Awards After Winning Women's Futsal AFCON

Morocco were crowned champions of the first-ever CAF Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations after a 3-2 comeback win over Tanzania in the final in Rabat. It was a perfect end to a perfect tournament for the hosts, who also saw Jasmine Damraoui named Player of the Tournament, while Dhouha Madani finished as top scorer with five goals. Tanzania made a fast start and were 2-0 up inside 16 minutes thanks to goals from Katunzi and Rajabu. But Morocco pulled one back just before half-time, with Madani scoring from a Sihem Tadlaoui assist. After the break, Morocco pushed forward and got their reward. Idrissiya Krich levelled the score in the 34th minute, before Damraoui netted the winner in the final seconds of the game to seal the title. Madani scored in every match, with goals against Namibia, Cameroon, Angola, and Tanzania. Her five goals helped Morocco reach the final and played a key part in their success. Tanzania goalkeeper Najaty Idrissa won the Best Goalkeeper award, while Namibia picked up the Fair Play trophy. Morocco dominated the tournament from start to finish. They topped their group with big wins over Namibia (8-1) and Cameroon (7-1), eased past Angola 5-1 in the semi-final, and came from behind to beat Tanzania in the final. The win means Morocco's women join the men's team in dominating African futsal. They also book their place at the Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines later this year.

Morocco vs Tanzania: Final of Women Futsal AFCON

Morocco's women's futsal team are one game away from etching their name in history as they face Tanzania in the final of the first CAF Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat. Kick-off is at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah indoor arena and fans can catch the action live on Arriyadia HD. The hosts enter the fray riding high on momentum and confidence, having swept through the group stage with a perfect record and huge scoreline before cruising past Angola in the semi-final. Head coach Adel Sayeh said his players' discipline and determination are 'the fruit of months of hard work, tactical rigour and immense national pride'. Speaking in the pre-match press conference, he said: *'This group gave everything. They followed the game plan to the letter and proved that they belong at the top.'* The Moroccan squad, mostly made up of players who ply their trade in regular football rather than futsal, have defied expectations with professional performances and sharp tactical awareness. Sayeh pointed to high-level friendlies against the likes of Spain, Brazil and Portugal as crucial preparation: 'We knew we had little time, so we opted for strong opponents to accelerate the learning curve. That decision paid off.' Their opponents, Tanzania, have also impressed en route to the final and will pose a stern test. Sayeh promised the same level of preparation and focus: 'Finals aren't played. They are won. We will analyse Tanzania thoroughly. The goal is to keep the trophy at home and make Morocco proud.' CAF president Patrice Motsepe landed earlier today in Rabat to attend the final. Score Prediction: Expect a thrilling, end-to-end affair. Morocco's tactical discipline and home support should tip the balance. Verdict: Morocco 4-2 Tanzania Tags: 2025 Futsal AFCONMoroccoTanzaniaWomen's AFCON

Tanzania stun Cameroon to reach Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations final

Published: Monday, 28 April 2025 Tanzania booked their place in the final of the inaugural Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations after a dramatic 3-2 win over Cameroon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall in Rabat. The victory not only secured Tanzania's spot in the final of the first-ever edition but also guaranteed their qualification for the upcoming FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines later this year. The semi-final clash was tightly contested from the start, with both sides showing defensive discipline in a tense opening half that ended goalless. Goalkeepers Ngah of Cameroon and Abass of Tanzania pulled off a string of fine saves to keep their teams level. The second half, however, exploded into life. Tanzanian captain Viohlet broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with a brilliant solo effort, only for Cameroon's Pekure to immediately respond and restore parity within a minute. Tanzania faced further adversity when Zawadi was sent off for a reckless altercation with Cameroon's Happy, leaving them with a numerical disadvantage. Yet, showing tremendous resilience, Tanzania struck again through Mnunka just four minutes from time. Cameroon refused to give in and leveled the score once more, with Beulou converting a precise cross from Mbomozomo in the 37th minute. But Tanzania delivered the final blow almost immediately, as Katunzi Junior finished a lightning-fast counterattack with a powerful strike to settle the contest. The win sends Tanzania into the historic final, where they will meet the winner of the second semi-final between Angola and hosts Morocco. Viohlet and her side have also made history by becoming the first African team to qualify for the inaugural Women's Futsal World Cup.

Women's Futsal AFCON: Guinea and Egypt Exit the Tournament

Egypt and Guinea delivered a great performance on Saturday, 26 April at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex but ultimately to no avail. The two sides played out to a thrilling 3–3 draw on Match Day 3 of Group B at the Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, a result that confirmed their elimination from the competition. Knowing that qualification was still mathematically possible with a win combined with an unlikely set of other results, both teams started the match at full throttle. Egypt struck first, taking advantage of a Guinea defence that was still disorganised. But the Syli Féminin, showing great determination, quickly drew level, reigniting the intensity of the contest. The match then turned into a gripping end-to-end battle, with every attack looking capable of changing the outcome. Egypt, showing greater technical polish, regained the lead with a well-worked team move. Yet Guinea, true to their fighting spirit, managed to equalise again — and even briefly took the lead early in the second half. It was a dramatic turnaround that kept the small crowd in the stands on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, it was the Pharaohs who had the final say, grabbing a late equaliser in the dying minutes of an exciting match. Despite sharing the points, the result was not enough for either side to claim a spot in the semifinals. Angola, dominant throughout Group B, finished top and secured their place in the final four. Already qualified as well, Morocco topped Group A, fuelled by strong home support and a disciplined, cohesive team. Under the tournament's rules, only the winners of each of the three groups are guaranteed a semifinal spot, with the fourth ticket reserved for the best runner-up an arrangement that intensified the battle among the contenders. The Women's Futsal AFCON carries historic importance: it offers the two finalists' qualification for the inaugural FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup, set to take place in the Philippines from 27 November to 7 December. For Egypt and Guinea, their Moroccan campaign ends on a bittersweet note. Both teams showed flashes of quality and fighting spirit but lacked the consistency and efficiency needed to join the continent's elite. A sense of unfinished business that should fuel their future growth.
