Kunene said when questioned by police about whether he was an associate of Molefe, he had told them that he only knew him from a distance. 'They asked for his number and I told them I don't have it. I then said to them I'm sure they have his number. To assure them that I did not have his number, I told them to punch it on my phone and see if it would appear. They then said I must show them the message of the person who sent the message and I showed them. 'The person had even sent the name of the road not the place and then later sent me another message to say which address I must use. How can I be sent a message from a place that I have been before?' Asked whether he had ever met Molefe before his arrest on Monday, Kunene said he had only met him at a birthday party for the mother of the person who organised the interview. 'I only saw him there, we greeted, I was in my corner with my people and he was in his corner with his people. I don't have his number, he does not have my number, we don't talk. I told the police to investigate and satisfy themselves.' Four arrested in breakthrough in DJ Sumbody murder case

Police arrested four men on Monday afternoon in connection with the murder of popular DJ Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody. Sefoka was killed in a hail of bullets in Woodmead in November 2022. Another person was killed in the same incident. Police spokesperson Brig Athlenda Mathe said Gauteng organised crime detectives worked on the case and later roped in the police's political killings task team to assist. 'The arrests were all effected in Gauteng on Monday afternoon and three of the suspects are believed to be hitmen and one is believed to have ordered the hit on the DJ.' The weapon allegedly used in the commission of the crime was seized and has since been linked to other murders. All four suspects are in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon. Police commissioner Gen Fannie Masemola said this was a significant breakthrough that would hopefully provide closure to families involved. 'Well done to the teams that have been piecing together evidence since November 2022. This is a culmination of hard work and dedication to justice. This is one of those complex cases that our teams needed to take their time in ensuring a thorough investigation so that we could ultimately bring a strong case before court,' Masemola said. Sandton businessman arrested for DJ Sumbody hit

Police have made an arrest in connection with the assassination of Oupa John Sefoka, also known as DJ Sumbody. It is understood that businessman Katiso 'KT' Molefe was arrested at his Sandton home on Monday. Molefe and alleged hitmen Michael Pule Tau, Musa Kekana and Tlego Floyd Mabusela are before court and awaiting trial for the hit-style killing of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart in April last year. At the time of his arrest, Molefe was out on bail. Kekana and Mabusela also face charges of attempted murder relating to a failed hit on actress and socialite Tebogo Thobejane, an attack allegedly set in motion by her former lover, tender don Vusimusi 'Cat' Matlala. Sefoka was killed in Woodmead in November 2022.
