IU announces 'Bye, Summer' to light up the KSPO Dome; star to have first in-person fan meet in 2 years
IU IU is here to spice things up this summer with her first offline fan meet in two years. The K-pop queen, whose voice can tug at your heartstrings, announced on August 8, 2025, via her agency's social media that 'Bye, Summer' will light up the KSPO Dome in Seoul on September 13 and 14. It's her big return to in-person events since the 2023 'I+UN1VER5E' fan concert, and the excitement is building up like clouds before a proper rain shower. The name 'Bye, Summer' comes straight from an unreleased track she teased at her massive Seoul World Cup Stadium concert last year. It's all about capturing that bittersweet feeling of waving goodbye to summer's wild rides. IU's music has this magical way of blending deep emotions with a sprinkle of playfulness, much like how our festive seasons mix ancient rituals with today's trendy twists. For folks who've grown up with the rhythm of monsoons washing away the heat, this fan meet feels like a personal invitation to reflect and recharge, turning a simple seasonal farewell into something truly soul-stirring. Ditching the Spotlight for Cozy Fan Chats and Games IU is flipping the script with 'Bye, Summer' to create something way more intimate and fun. Expect a lineup of interactive games that get everyone involved, heartfelt Q&A sessions where fans can spill their thoughts, and perhaps even some impromptu sing-alongs to her iconic tracks. This shift away from her past concert-heavy vibes is all about building real connections, making it feel less like a performance and more like a laid-back gathering with friends over chai and samosas. IU's known for her warm, genuine personality that's a bit quirky around the edges, which sets this apart from your typical high-octane K-pop shows or standard fan meets that can sometimes feel too scripted. Exploring the Song That Inspired It All Diving deeper into 'Bye, Summer', the title track itself is a gem that's got fans talking. Debuted live last year, it's an unreleased piece that perfectly encapsulates the melancholy of seasons changing. Industry insiders praise her for this storytelling prowess, noting how it draws in global audiences by evoking shared human experiences. According to music analysts at outlets like Billboard, IU's ability to infuse emotion into her work has helped her amass over 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify as of 2025, showcasing her enduring appeal. This fan meet isn't just about the music; it's a celebration of IU's journey and her bond with UAENAs (her fan club name). Ending the Season with IU's Signature Warmth As the summer sun sets, IU's 'Bye, Summer' stands out as a beacon of fun and genuine interaction, blending nostalgia with excitement in a way that's uniquely her. Whether you're a longtime fan or just dipping your toes into K-pop, this is your chance to wrap up the season with vibes that linger long after the last note fades.

Alexander Isak missing from Newcastle squad bound for Singapore
SINGAPORE – Newcastle United fans in Singapore will not get the chance to see the English Premier League side's star striker Aleksandar Isak in action when they take on Arsenal at the National Stadium on July 27, after the Swede was left out of the squad who departed England on July 24. Isak, 25, is nursing a thigh injury and will continue his rehabilitation in England while his teammates play pre-season games in Singapore, followed by South Korea. The injury was also the reason he missed Newcastle's first pre-season game – a 4-0 defeat by Scottish side Celtic on July 19 – although Magpies manager Eddie Howe admitted after the match that speculation surrounding an exit was also part of his consideration. Premier League champions Liverpool have been strongly linked with a high-profile move for Isak for most of the summer transfer window, although talk has cooled somewhat after the Reds confirmed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt's French striker Hugo Ekitike for £69 million (S$119 million) on July 23. Any deal for Isak, who has scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League games for Newcastle in the last three seasons, would likely see a figure upwards of £120m. Howe had previously said he expected Isak to join the team for their tour in East Asia. Aside from Isak, the only senior player missing from Newcastle's squad bound for Singapore is backup goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. England left back Lewis Hall, who suffered an ankle injury in February that cut his season short, has been included, as has winger Anthony Elanga, a £55m recruit from Nottingham Forest, After playing Arsenal, Newcastle are will play a K-League selection side at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on July 30, and then Tottenham Hotspur on Aug 3 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
