Moradabad bros to represent Indiaat World Police and Fire Games

Lucknow: Two brothers from Moradabad have been selected to represent India in swimming events at the World Police and Fire Games 2025 in the USA.

(20), a UP Police head constable posted in Meerut, and his elder brother Ritik Sharma (21), a CISF constable posted in Hyderabad, will be among 43 athletes from Uttar Pradesh representing the country in various disciplines.
"This is a very proud moment for me and my brother to be part of the Indian contingent in the World Police and Fire Games. I joined the Uttar Pradesh Police through the 2023 recruitment and have been representing UP Police at the national level. Our father, Ravi Sharma, has been our coach since childhood and has also served in the UP Police," said Rohit.
"Our father began training us when I was 2 and my elder brother was 7 years old.
My mother, who is also a swimming coach, has supported us throughout," He said. Rohit recently won two gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, and a silver in the 50m breaststroke at the All-India Police Games 2025 held in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, Ritik said both brothers compete in the breaststroke category. "I remember my last competition was in 2021, where Rohit defeated me in my main event. Now, we train and compete together in the same category and help correct each other's mistakes.

Ritik bagged two gold medals in the 50m breaststroke and 100m medley relay, and a silver in the 100m breaststroke at the All-India Police Games 2025.
Their father, Ravi Sharma, said swimming is a family passion. "My wife Nisha began learning swimming at the age of 36 and went on to compete in the nationals in the Masters category. Even my mother, Vaichitra Devi, continues to swim at the age of 75," he said.
"I worked diligently for my children and faced many challenges. I even sold my house and land to support their growing expenses in swimming. But today, all that hard work has borne fruit," he added.
In addition to the Sharma brothers, Riya Verma, another UP Police head constable, also secured a spot in the World Police and Fire Games 2025. She won four medals in Ahmedabad.
