Primark in big Manchester store revamp, bigger fashion, beauty and new own-vintage offer

A year of major store upgrades for giant retailers continues, with Primark giving its Manchester Market Street store more than a fresh new look this summer. As part of the renovation plans, the retailer will add a brand-new performance-wear area with enhanced displays, the introduction of its own, all-new vintage clothing offer, as well as a refresh to its RAWR beauty studio. With the full transformation expected to be completed by September, the 25-year-old store will become one of the retailer's biggest flagships on the UK high street, spanning over 150,000 sq ft. It's set to benefit from a new modernised layout, with the introduction of more self-service checkouts and enhanced fixtures and fittings. This includes its windows, which will be updated to create a brighter, lighter shopping experience. There will also be updated walkways, signage, and LED lighting throughout the store. As mentioned, the changes will include the departure of WornWell's vintage clothing concession as the store makes way for Primark's own offer, to be unveiled in July. This will be a pilot for the business and the first of its kind for any Primark store, the retailer noted. Rich Davis, GM at Primark Manchester Market Street, said: 'We'll be open as usual throughout the summer and the team can't wait to unveil our fully revamped store when the time comes.' Meanwhile, the retailer is also expanding its footprint in the Greater Manchester area with the launch of a new standalone Primark Home store at Trafford Palazzo this summer. Spanning two floors and almost 12,000 sq ft, the store will offer an extended range of homeware, furniture, soft furnishings, and include a dedicated Travel Shop and its premium 'The Home Edit ' line.

Primark launches click and collect service

Primark has launched its Click & Collect service at its Fort Kinnaird and Princes Street stores, with all 21 stores across Scotland now offering the convenience of buying online and picking up in store. As well as offering the convenience of ordering wherever and whenever, the service gives people the chance to get their hands on ranges and collections typically only found in Primark's larger stores. Whether that's its popular Paula Echevarria collection, 100% linen outfits from The Primark Edit or pieces from its adaptive clothing range, Click & Collect brings more of Primark to more people. It comes as Primark completes the full roll out of the service across its 187 stores in England, Wales and Scotland. Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director at Primark, said: 'From the moment we launched Click & Collect, we've heard from our customers that it's made shopping with us even easier. We know our customers in Scotland have been patiently waiting for the service to come to them, and I'm delighted that the wait is finally over. From today, shoppers can check out online and pick up in person at any of our 21 Scottish stores, making it easier than ever to grab all their holiday essentials ahead of summer.' After adding items to a virtual shopping basket, customers can choose a day to collect, up to seven days ahead, from their chosen store. Orders will be available for collection from two days after they have been placed with a £10 minimum order value and no delivery charge. Click & Collect customers can also pay for any additional in-store finds when collecting their order from the dedicated Click & Collect desk, enabling them to skip in-store queues. Primark's Click & Collect service is just one of the ways Primark is giving Scottish shoppers more convenience, choice and reasons to visit their local high street. The retailer's first store in Scotland was in Hamilton, opening in 1975 – making it one of the first Primark stores in the UK. Today, Primark has 21 stores in Scotland spanning over 700,000 sq ft of retail space and employing more than 2,300 colleagues. It opened its latest Scottish store last December, at Glasgow Fort, while at the same time introducing its WornWell vintage clothing concession to its store on Argyle Street, also in Glasgow.
