Nourine AbouSeada & Ramez Naguib Team Up for 'Bassa Meny'

Nourine AbouSeada and Ramez Naguib drop 'Bassa Meny', a playful, house-inflected pop track that leans into cheeky bars and carefree energy, backed by a colourful music video directed by Marwan Imam. Jul 16, 2025 Cairo-based artists Nourine AbouSeada and Ramez Naguib team up on 'Bassa Meny', a vibrant new single made for the messy joy of summer. With house-influenced production, flirtatious lyrics, and a chorus that sticks, the track is pure feel-good energy from start to finish. Nourine brings her signature tongue-in-cheek delivery, while Ramez shapes a slick, electronic-pop soundscape that's dancefloor-ready without being overstated. The song first sparked buzz during a live performance at Spotify's Wrapped event. Director Marwan Imam captures the track's playful spirit in a music video that doubles as a behind-the-scenes hangout. Shot in a studio with Nourine's friends in the mix, it leans into the fun of being loud, light and fully yourself.

Want to Make Your Spotify Wrapped Better This Year? Start Now

You don't have to be embarrassed every time Spotify Wrapped appears. More Beyoncé, less Baha Men. Photograph:Spotify Wrapped has become quite the event. You'll know the minute the streaming giant drops its annual roundup of user listening habits, because your social media feeds will be flooded with data of your friends' most played songs, number of hours listened, and proud declarations of superfan statuses. There are some people, however, who don't feel entirely comfortable sharing their Spotify Wrapped with anyone else. Listeners whose lists are dominated by guilty pleasures, perhaps, or their kids' music, or artists they're no longer a fan of. If you want to reach the end of the year with a Spotify Wrapped that reflects who you are, and the music you truly like (or are happy to own up to, at least), then some preparation work is needed now—much earlier in the year. Thankfully, the streaming service gives you several ways of tailoring the listening your Wrapped roundup will take into consideration, so you can share your results proudly when that time comes. Exclude Specific Playlists You can exclude any playlist from being used in Wrapped. David Nield You may well have a specific playlist you don't want to count toward your Spotify Wrapped data. Maybe that's a playlist you constantly use at the gym or as background music for working or falling asleep to or that one your kids have set up. Spotify lets you exclude certain playlists from your recommendations and your Wrapped roundup. With the targeted playlist on screen in the web, desktop, or mobile apps, click or tap the three dots at the top of the track list and choose Exclude from your taste profile. Spotify won't let this playlist affect the profile it builds on you, unless you decide to include the playlist again (which can be done from the same menu). The feature is primarily intended to give you better recommendations in your mixes and other areas of Spotify, but it affects Wrapped too. Any tracks inside excluded playlists won't count toward your top artists and songs of the year, but excluded playlists will be counted as part of your total listening time, Spotify says. Listen in Private Private sessions won't be logged by Spotify. David Nield Another way of protecting both your recommendations inside the Spotify app and your end-of-year Spotify Wrapped is to enable private listening. The feature is exactly what it sounds like: A private listening session that won't be logged in the records (similar to incognito browsing on the web). You can start a private listening session in the desktop app by clicking your profile picture (top right), then Private session. You can do the same in the mobile app by tapping your profile picture (top left), then Settings and privacy and Privacy and social, and enabling the Private session toggle switch. Private sessions aren't available on the web app. Repeat the process to disable a private session. Private sessions are also automatically ended when you quit and restart the Spotify app, or after six hours of playback—so watch out for your listening habits suddenly being tracked again if you leave Spotify playing for extended periods of time. Switch to a Family Account Switching your subscription is another option. David Nield This idea is a little bit different from the other two, but it can be just as effective. If you find your Spotify Wrapped is full of songs other family members have listened to, because you share a single account around your household, then consider signing up to a family plan. This will cost extra, but you might find the investment worth it for better recommendations and a cleaner Spotify Wrapped—not to mention the privilege of not having your tunes suddenly cut out when someone else starts listening on another device. Family plans cost $20 per month and cover up to six people. Your listening record will then be yours and yours only. To see the various subscription options (there's also a $17-per-month Duo plan for two people), log in to your Spotify account on the web, then click Available subscriptions.

Spotify Technology SA (NYSE:SPOT) plans to focus on accelerated execution in 2025, aiming to ship improvements faster and invest in core music experiences. Advertising growth was only 6% on a currency-neutral basis, reflecting challenges in marketer spending and brand-related campaigns. The company acknowledged being late in transitioning to programmatic advertising, which is expected to take time to scale. Q1 2025 is expected to be seasonally weaker, with lower MAU and subscriber intake, impacting revenue and gross margins. There is potential variability in gross margins due to targeted investments in core offerings like video and music. The company faces competitive dynamics in developing markets, although some competitors have exited, benefiting Spotify. The focus is on creating a win-win dynamic with labels, emphasizing scale and profitability growth. Q: Why is Spotify's advertising growth lagging despite its large audience? A: Christian Luiga acknowledged the delay in transitioning to programmatic advertising but noted that technical build-out is largely complete. The company expects to scale in 2026, with 2025 being a year of building. Q: How does Spotify plan to adjust pricing in an inflationary environment? A: Alex Norstrom, Co-President, stated that ARPU growth will come from price adjustments, future tiering, and selling add-ons. Spotify balances value and price, adding features and content to justify price increases. For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript.
