For the first time, the company's blockbuster summer show is being split over two days, a WrestleMania-style event. Day 1 establishes the mood for what is anticipated to be one of the all-time great SummerSlams and heated grudge matches. CM Punk eyes the World Heavyweight Championship The most anticipated match of the night, CM Punk challenges Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. As one of the breakout stars of the year, Stratton hardly has an easy road, yet Cargill is being simultaneously booked to powerfully close the distance to hallowed ground. Stratton has the odds-on favorite to retain, but if WWE wants a change in the division, then Cargill can leave with the title. Roman Reigns and Jey Uso team up against the future Jey Uso joins Roman Reigns in returning to action in a tag team match against the intense pairing of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Breakker and Reed are the future of WWE, but the prevailing wisdom is that the chemistry and main-event experience of Reigns and Uso will give them the win. It should be all four superstars working hard for this one, but expect the veterans to get the win here.
