KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An account has been set up handling donations for the family of Wyandotte County Sheriff Deputy Elijah Ming, who was killed in the line of duty this past weekend.
The official memorial account is set up through the Public Safety Credit Union, according to the sheriff's office. Donations can be taken to any branch of the Public Safety Credit Union, . Just let the branch know it's for the memorial account for Elijah Ming and they will take care of the rest.

The sheriff's office said all proceeds collected will be donated directly for the family, none of the funds will go to the sheriff's office.
'It's unfortunate that people do this but please be mindful of any websites claiming to be collecting donations,' Fraternal Order of Police WYCO Lodge #40 said on Facebook Monday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), just before 3:30 p.m., Saturday, July 26, a woman requested that police accompany her as she moved out of a residence in the area of South 30th Street and Shawnee Drive in Kansas City, Kansas, due to concerns about her safety. She reported that when friends tried to help her, a man threatened them with a firearm.
Wyandotte County Deputy Elijah Ming and a KCK police officer arrived at the home around 3:45 p.m.
As they approached the front door, a man inside the house fired multiple shots at the deputy and the officer, striking the 34-year-old deputy. The KCKPD officer was not injured, according to KBI.
As responding officers attempted to provide aid to Ming, gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and officers and deputies. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Shawn Harris, was shot during the exchange of gunfire while he was barricaded in the home, according to KBI.
KBI said Ming was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police negotiated with Harris over the phone until he surrendered and came out of the house just after 5 p.m. and was taken into custody, according to KBI.

Harris was first taken to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. He was then booked into the Johnson County Jail late Sunday morning and was charged Monday afternoon with capital murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
The investigation is ongoing by KBI.
