Avengers: Doomsday Leak Shows Fantastic Four, New Avengers, And The Avengers Uniting
Leaked set photos from the production of Avengers: Doomsday shared on X (formerly Twitter) have shown three cast members together in their respective costumes. Although the backdrop of the set is unfortunately a blue screen, the photos still reveal some interesting details for fans. Thunderbolts * The images show Joaquin Torres/Falcon (Danny Ramirez, Top Gun: Maverick ) from Sam Wilson/Captain America's (Anthony Mackie, Altered Carbon ) new Avengers team, John Walker/US Agent (Wyatt Russell, Lodge 49 ) from the newly-renamed New Avengers, and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, The Bear ) from The Fantastic Four. Other than Moss-Bachrach, who is in a mocap suit, Ramirez and Russell are both outfitted in their respective characters' superhero costumes. It is particularly notable that Ramirez's Falcon appears to have made a full physical recovery and repaired his suit since the events of Captain America: Brave New World (2025). Meanwhile, Russell's US Agent can be seen wearing the same black beret that he wears in the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts* . The surroundings of the set, featuring large curved windows and a semi-circular retro-futuristic control panel, seem to indicate that this may be a spaceship, perhaps more specifically, The Fantastic Four's spaceship that can be seen in both the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts* as well as in the trailer of The Fantastic Four: First Steps . Given these details, fans have theorised that the scene in this set leak photo may be happening right after the events of the T hunderbolts* post-credits scene, wherein the New Avengers and the Avengers may come face-to-face with The Fantastic Four for the first time. Eagle-eyed fans have also been quick to spot a black and silver shoe in the bottom right corner of the photo, and some are already theorising it is Letitia Wright's ( Death on the Nile ) Black Panther. Given that Wright's Shuri had previously interacted with members of the Avengers before taking on the mantle of the Black Panther, she's possibly present in this scene to aid or represent the Avengers. While details about the plot of Avengers: Doomsday remain tightly kept under wraps, the leaked set photos seem to corroborate a plot leak of the film's first act. At the very least, these leaks tease some interesting interactions from the massive crossover movie event set to happen in 2026. With the tension between the New Avengers and Sam Wilson's Avengers brewing at the end of Thunderbolts* , fans can only look forward to The Fantastic Four: First Steps for answers on how this interaction between the three teams will happen and how it will all shake out. The Fantastic Four: First Steps will take its first steps into theatres in Singapore on 24 July 2025. Actor Kurt Russell spends July 4th visiting home of his ancestor in Arlington, Massachusetts
Actor Kurt Russell spent his Fourth of July visiting the home of his ancestor in Arlington, Massachusetts. Russell was joined by one of his sons, Boston Russell, who visited the Jason Russell House and Museum. The Hollywood star is best known for his roles in "Tombstone," "Escape from New York," and the Marvel movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." Actor Kurt Russell spent his Fourth of July visiting the home of his ancestor in Arlington, Massachusetts. Town of Arlington Jason is Kurt's eighth great-grandfather and his son's ninth. "I'm very amazed, honored and proud of the fact that my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather was so instrumental in changing the world," Kurt said. "It's fantastic. To learn this at this time in my life is kind of shocking." Kurt Russell tours historical sites in Massachusetts Kurt said that the first time he heard about his ancestor was when his son, Boston, and his other son, Wyatt Russell, were speaking about him. Then he said that someone reached out to his agent about their connection to Jason. His ancestor fought and died during the Battle of Lexington, Concord, and Mentomy during the Revolutionary War on April 19, 1776. Jason was killed on his own doorstep, according to the legend. He also built the house, the Town of Arlington said. Kurt and his son were given a guided tour of the home, a look at their historical collection, documents from the battle, and the 13 bullet holes in the house. They then visited Jason's gravesite in the Old Burying Ground. "This coming to Arlington and understanding what took place in Mentomy, which became Arlington, and the connection that I have with learning about him is kind of fascinating because I'm already hearing things that remind me of my father, my grandfather, my great-grandfather that I remember in my life. Maybe even in myself. DNA is a funny thing. That's what I'm being struck by, how connected. It wasn't that long ago," Russell explained. Kurt said that there were some connections to the area that he hadn't even realized, like his son's name, Boston, which had nothing to do with the city. He also mentioned that April 19 is significant in their family already, as it is his stepdaughter Kate Hudson's birthday. "We keep finding these connections that are pretty fun," Kurt said. Kurt Russell with the executive director of the Arlington Historical Society, Matt Beres. The Town of Arlington "We'd like to thank Kurt Russell and Boston Russell for being our guests and stepping back into history with us as we celebrate the birth of America, remembering the sacrifice of people like Jason Russell in the fight for our nation's independence," said Matt Beres, executive director of the Arlington Historical Society. The visit was in honor of Arlington 250, which recognizes the town's role in the Revolutionary War. For more information about the Jason Russell House and Museum, click here.

Heroic indifference: was Thunderbolts* always doomed at the box office?
There's no such thing as a sure thing in Hollywood. Just ask Marvel Studios – once the box office equivalent of a cashpoint duct-taped to a golden goose, now resembling a busted slot machine in Skegness. Reports this week suggest that Thunderbolts*, the studio's latest attempt to turn supervillain also-rans into marquee gold, has officially faceplanted at the box office despite strong reviews, a cast stacked with rising stars and indie darlings, and enough emotional baggage to ground a Sundance drama. In theory, Jake Schreier's rowdy ensemble piece had it all: Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell's jawline, a marketing campaign whispering 'this isn't your dad's Marvel film', and the sort of melancholic indie sheen that usually comes free with a Bon Iver soundtrack. Critics even liked it. And yet audiences, perhaps stung by a mercurial ride for the once pristine superhero studio simply couldn't be bothered to find out what all the fuss was about. With a production and marketing tab pushing $275m (£203m), Thunderbolts* needed to soar like Iron Man. Instead, Variety suggests its $371m (£273m) global take after six weeks in multiplexes is likely to leave it some way short of the $425m (£313m) the film needs to break even by the time it slips quietly on to Disney+. The hand-wringing in Hollywood has been palpable. But the reality is that Thunderbolts* sets up far more monumental Marvel instalments – that asterisk is all about teasing the arrival in the MCU of the New Avengers, while the movie's end-credit scene sees the Fantastic Four plummeting towards Earth-199999 in a suitably retro-futurist rocket ship from another dimension – so it doesn't really need to hit $1bn to be considered at least a partial success. Audiences might have decided that the studio is no longer churning out fabulous content at such a guaranteed rate, but Kevin Feige et al will surely sleep soundly knowing that even if the audience isn't buying the starter, the next 10-course franchise tasting menu is already in the oven. In many ways, Thunderbolts* was something of a free hit for the studio. Had comic book movie fans warmed to it, Marvel might have had a completely new team of colourful miscreants to spin off into the glorious synergised future, just as they did with James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. But if fans aren't feeling the new team, it's really not a big issue, because Red Guardian, Ghost and US Agent are surely destined to be torpedoed by the real Avengers when they eventually trampoline in from whatever pocket dimension Robert Downey Jr is cryogenically stored in. In future years, Thunderbolts* might be remembered as warmly as the forgotten pilot episode for a series that never got made, or as a cinematic shrug that bridged the gap between multiversal crises and the return of a gaggle of box office big guns. On the other hand, we might be sitting here in 20 years' time recalling the moment we realised Pugh was going to be the biggest thing in comic book movies since Hugh Jackman first sprouted sideburns. Maybe Thunderbolts* was never meant to save the MCU – just stall for time while the A-listers finished renegotiating their contracts. It may not have been the genuine thunderclap moment the studio needed to remind audiences why they cared about capes and cosmic nonsense in the first place, but with The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, it certainly filled the gap. Because, in the end, even a Thunderbolts* movie held together with VFX and vibes counts as content. And in 2025, that's still the most valuable substance in the known universe.

Fact Check: Marvel actor Wyatt Russell isn't in LA protest video, honestly
Claim: A video authentically shows actor Wyatt Russell speaking at a Los Angeles protest. Rating: Context: The man in the footage was a protester named Aaron Fisher. In early June 2025, amid protests over immigration raids in Los Angeles, a claim (archived) circulated online that actor Wyatt Russell spoke out against law enforcement and military personnel in the city. U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the National Guard into Los Angeles despite California Gov. Gavin Newsom's objections. In a video accompanying the claims, a person social media users identified as Russell — the son of actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn who appeared in the 2025 Marvel movie "Thunderbolts*" — said in part: You feel tough with your assault rifles and your sticks. You should be standing here with us. You're on the wrong side of history. We know you got a job to do, but you took an oath to the Constitution, not to the fascists in the White House. One person shared the following post on X (archived): (X account @lesleyabravanel) The claim circulated elsewhere on (archived) X (archived) and Reddit (archived). Snopes readers also searched our website to find out whether the claim was true. However, the footage was miscaptioned. While the video was authentic, meaning it was not the product of artificial intelligence software or other digital manipulation, Wyatt Russell was not the person in it. Snopes confirmed the protester in the video is actually a man named Aaron Fisher. A spokesperson for Russell told The Independent, "This is indeed NOT Wyatt Russell, and we have been working to try and correct the mis-identification." A representative for Russell also confirmed the misidentification to Entertainment Weekly. Snopes reached out to a representative for Russell for comment on the misidentification and will update this article if we receive a response. In a post (archived) on June 9, 2025, an X user said they confirmed that the protester was not Russell but Fisher: Snopes reached out to Fisher, who confirmed to us that he is the person who appeared in the video. He provided the following statement via email: I found the mixup to be pretty humorous, and glad it helped to amplify the message. The proliferation of the words themselves, and the movement behind it, is what matters most. The deployment of the National Guard against the wishes of our Governor is dangerously un-American, and I will continue to peacefully protest in my community. Sommerlad, Joe. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's son Wyatt addresses claim he was viral protester scolding National Guardsmen during LA riots
Actor Wyatt Russell, son of Hollywood legends Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, has cleared the air after he was mistakenly identified as a man scolding law enforcement during the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles in a viral video. The video showed a bearded protester, who has a fleeting resemblance to Wyatt Russell, donning a black sweatshirt and baseball cap and shouting at National Guardsmen standing post. The protester can be heard telling the guardsmen that they were on 'the wrong side of history' in the clip that went viral on X on Monday. 'Your assault rifles and your sticks? You should be standing here with us,' the man is heard yelling. 5 Wyatt Russell attends the New York Special Screening of 'Thunderbolts' hosted by The Cinema Society at iPic Theater on April 30, 2025 in New York City. Getty Images for Disney 'We know you got a job to do, but you took an oath to the Constitution, not to the fascists in the White House. Think about what you're doing now. Think about what this means.' Rumors started spreading like wildfire across the social media platform that the man in the footage was actually the '22 Jump Street' star. However, a spokesperson for the 38-year-old actor quickly put to rest any doubt that he was the man in the video. 'This is indeed NOT Wyatt Russell, and we have been working to try and correct the mis-identification,' the spokesperson told the Independent. The protester in the viral clip was actually Aaron Fisher, a former Ohio House Democratic Caucus staffer and now a partner at Statecraft Media — who said he got a kick out of being mistaken for his Hollywood doppelganger. 5 Wyatt Russell with his mom, actress Goldie Hawn. 'The proliferation of the words themselves, and the movement behind it, is what matters most.' Fisher then used the moment to bash the deployment of the National Guard in California to help control the violent ICE riots suffocating Los Angeles. 'The deployment of the National Guard against the wishes of our Governor is dangerously un-American, and I will continue to peacefully protest in my community,' he said. 5 Severe disorder takes place in downtown Los Angeles as hundreds of law enforcement officers and the National Guard try to keep order. Toby Canham for NY Post The city has been in turmoil since protests-turned-riots erupted as US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided numerous workplaces and hauled off suspected illegal immigrants. The Trump administration has deployed 4,000 National Guard members to maintain order and help protect federal personnel and property. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has also ordered 700 Marines to Los Angeles to support the National Guard troops on the ground, as well as local authorities. 5 Vehicles are seen being torched during the Los Angeles anti-ICE riots. Toby Canham for NY Post Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced that a curfew will go into effect in parts of downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday after five straight days of riots, looting, violent clashes with police, and more than 150 arrests. While it was confirmed that Russell wasn't the protester in the viral video, other celebrities have not shied away from throwing their support behind the anti-ICE riots. Actor Mark Ruffalo posted a lengthy message on Instagram condemning the ICE raids as things began to reach a boiling point in the city between protesters and law enforcement. 'When you have working class people going after the poor and other working class people you know you are living in an oligarchy,' Ruffalo captioned the post.
