Minister pressed library leaders twice before sinking award ceremony

The news Arts Minister John-Paul Langbroek unsuccessfully pressed State Library leaders on two occasions before issuing a direction that led to the last-minute cancellation of a First Nations author's award ceremony in May. The previously unknown detail of a meeting between Langbroek, the library chief executive and board chair one week prior comes as the library launches a promised review into its award processes. The review's terms of reference say it will aim to 'strike a balance between the priorities and expectations of the Minister' and the role of the library as a publicly funded entity. Why it matters The library flagged the review in May, after Langbroek intervened to stop one of two black&write! fellowships going to Adelaide-based author K.A. Ren Wyld, whom he accused in parliament of 'glorifying terrorism'. One day before their presentation, Langbroek made a formal direction that the $15,000 award should not be given to Wyld in a state-owned venue due to a social media post praising slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar – flagged with him by his department, and now deleted. Langbroek's directive, which followed the May 12 meeting and a May 16 follow-up letter, led to the library cancelling Wyld's contract only after she flew to Brisbane and hours before the federally funded program's ceremony was set to begin. The decision sparked the resignations of several Queensland literary award judges in protest. It was praised by the state's peak Jewish body, and came amid a national debate about antisemitism and free speech.

Australia Man Quits Carpentry To Record Fart Videos. Now Makes Rs 20 Lakh A Year

Last Updated: Nath Wyld estimates that fart videos alone account for around 20 per cent of his total annual earnings which surpass Rs 1.1 crore. An Australian man who once worked as a carpenter and weekend stripper is now making a living by creating fart videos. Nath Wyld used to work a regular carpentry job during the week and spent his weekends as a topless waiter and stripper at a club called Magic Men. Over time, his popularity grew, especially on Instagram and by 2017, he was being encouraged by fans to start an OnlyFans account. 'At the start it was very tame, just photos of me semi-naked and short videos of me posing – just a little bit raunchier than what you could post on Instagram," he said as quoted by The Metro. Things changed when he started offering more explicit content. He says he earned around £3,280 (approximately Rs 3.8 lakh) in his first month. As demand continued, he eventually left carpentry for content creation full-time. 'Not having to work eight hours a day and commute was a huge bonus – now I have the freedom to work from home," Wyld said. His most unexpected breakthrough came a couple of years into his OnlyFans journey when fans began requesting fart videos. Initially, he turned them down. 'I wasn't very keen to do it so I left it and said no," he said. But after more and more requests came in, he decided to give it a try. That first video was filmed in his bedroom and offered as a pay-per-view. The reaction surprised him. 'I was blown away (no pun intended) by the demand," he said. Since then, fart videos have become a regular part of his income. He even made £2,050 (Rs 2.3 lakh) from one single fart video. Wyld now makes about £1,540 (around Rs 90,000) each month just from this niche content. He estimates that fart videos alone account for around 20 per cent of his total annual earnings which surpass £101,000 (Rs 1.17 Crore). For custom videos, clients typically request specific outfits, camera angles or whether they should speak or stay silent. 'Some want me to talk to them, saying things like, 'Wish you were here to smell this' or 'This one's for you.' Others want complete silence, he explained. To prepare, he deliberately eats foods like chicken and green vegetables to become bloated. Then, dressed in tight shorts or a jockstrap, he squats over the camera and performs. top videos View All To prepare, he deliberately eats foods like chicken and green vegetables to become bloated. Wyld Kicks Off Summer 2025 With a Splash, Tapping Into THC Beverage Demand With Introduction of Infused Sparkling Waters

New Drink of the Summer Launches in Select Markets and Online, With Seven Bold Flavors and Two Potency Options PORTLAND, Ore., May 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyld, the #1 cannabis edible brand in the U.S., announced the launch of its Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC Sparkling Waters. Crafted with real fruit, functional effects, and doses for every type of consumer, this new line of bubbly beverages is poised to be the drink of the summer with consumer habits continuing to pivot away from alcohol in favor of THC beverages. Following the success of Wyld's CBD Sparkling Waters introduced in 2019 and the company's nationwide rollout of hemp-derived, Delta-9 gummies in 2024, the new Infused Sparkling Waters mark the next evolution in Wyld's product line. Available in both 10mg and 2mg dosing options per can, the drinks are crafted with real fruit and designed for a range of experiences—from active and social to calm and restorative. "Honestly, I think we've outdone ourselves with these drinks," said Aaron Morris, CEO and Founder of Wyld. "After testing and tweaking the formulas, we've created something I personally can't stop drinking. They're delicious, consistent, and 100% Wyld quality throughout." The initial launch consists of seven finely tuned flavors with distinct effects: Raspberry Lime (10mg THC) — Active Blackberry Lemon (10mg THC) — Mellow Strawberry Guava (10mg THC, 10mg CBC) — Bliss Watermelon (10mg THC, 10mg CBG) — Refresh Mango (10mg THC, 10mg CBD) — Restore Clementine (2mg THC, 20mg CBD) — Bright White Peach (2mg THC, 20mg CBD) — Chill The two lower-dose offerings—Clementine and White Peach—are designed with cannabis-curious or low-dose consumers in mind, offering a sessionable experience akin to sipping beer versus spirits. Whether consumers are seeking a social setting with multiple beverages or a solo sip, Wyld's Infused Sparkling Waters deliver a buzz that's uplifting, clean and tailor-made for summer gatherings. "We've been producing our CBD Sparkling Waters since 2019, and have been looking for the right time to bring that same Wyld quality to a THC beverage." said Morris. "It just made sense to expand what we offer in the sparkling water format." Wyld's hemp-derived delta-9 Sparkling Waters are available now in select markets where hemp products are permitted, through specialty retailers, wholesale partners and online. All products are tested to ensure quality, potency and safety—part of Wyld's ongoing commitment to raising the standard for hemp-derived consumer goods.
