Wyre Selects CommScope's vCCAP Evo Solution for Belgium's Largest Broadband Network

CLAREMONT, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM), a global leader in network connectivity, announced today that the infrastructure company Wyre, has selected CommScope's cloud-native vCCAP Evo™ solution for Remote PHY (R-PHY) deployments as the foundation for their next-generation broadband access network in Belgium. Wyre, established in 2023 as a joint venture between Telenet – a subsidiary of Liberty Global – and Fluvius, provides wholesale access to the hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network in Flanders and parts of Brussels. The selection comes after Wyre completed lab trials of the technology and started field trials to demonstrate how the vCCAP Evo solution, combined with CommScope's Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) solutions, is poised to significantly improve the quality of user experience. The field trial of the combined vCCAP Evo and DAA solution is expected to offer high-speed, low latency data, video and voice by pushing resources closer to the network edge. This latest collaboration between the two companies is a core part of Wyre's strategy to expand broadband capacity and build a cloud-native, software-based network that is scalable and efficient. "Partnering with CommScope and deploying their vCCAP Evo solution is a major step in building scalable networks for Flanders and Brussels' digital transformation. As we advance toward 10G networks, CommScope's cloud-native and DAA solutions will be key—delivering superior performance, lower latency, and greater energy efficiency to meet our customers' needs," said Philip Cauwel, Head of Technology & Strategy at Wyre. 'The vCCAP Evo solution is the standard bearer of CommScope's technology leadership in broadband network innovation,' stated Emmanuel Vella, SVP CommScope. 'Wyre recognizes the immense potential in migrating to vCCAP and DAA to drive more value from existing investments. By leveraging a cloud-native core that pushes capacity to the edge of the network, these solutions empower Wyre to fulfill customer demand for faster broadband. We're always grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate with them and we look forward to continuing to deliver the next-gen solutions they need to succeed.' The award winning beaches to visit this weekend as temperatures remain high

Life will be a beach this weekend as the hot weather continues. And lucky for us we have some of the best beaches in the country — not too far from our doorstep. Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has announced the winners of the prestigious Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for summer 2025. pa The beaches flying the Seaside Awards Flag are: • Blackpool South - Blackpool Council • Blackpool Central- Blackpool Council • Bispham - Blackpool Council • St Annes Pier - Fylde Borough Council • Morecambe South Beach - Lancaster City Council • North Beach – Morecambe - Lancaster City Council • Fleetwood Ferry Beach* - Wyre Borough Council • Fleetwood Marine Beach - Wyre Borough Council • Rossall Beach* - Wyre Borough Council • Jubilee Beach, Cleveleys - Wyre Borough Council Blackpool South Beach Blackpool South Beach offers a wide stretch of sand and is generally a quieter beach than others in Blackpool. South of the beach sits Blackpool's pleasure beach, a large amusement park, meaning the beach is a great day out for the kids and those who enjoy rides. Blackpool Central Blackpool Central Beach is situated in the town centre. The seafront features three large piers, and the famous Blackpool tower. With deckchairs available for hire, you are in for a relaxing day out. St Annes beach by Sadaquat Khan. Bispham Bispham is situated between Blackpool North shore and the Cleveleys and is a nice beach to escape the holiday crowds in Blackpool. The beach features a promenade allowing you to walk along the man-made sea defenses, and features views along the coast and out towards the Irish sea. St Annes Pier St Annes Pier is the seaside town of Lytham, only 5 miles down the road from Blackpool. The beach features cafes, children's amusements, pitch and putt golf, a paddling pool, bandstand and a small train. The beach also includes seafront promenade gardens, including a waterfall, pond and ducks. There's also lots of sand, meaning it is the perfect place for children to build sandcastles. Morecambe South and North Beach Morecambe South and North Beaches feature the largest expanse of intertidal mudflats and sand in the UK, covering 120 square miles, therefore there's definitely enough room for the whole family! The beaches are backed by rock sea defences. There is art and games for children along the promenade, and the statue of Eric Morecambe also sits on the prom. However, Morecambe is known for their fast-moving tides, so make sure to not get too relaxed! Nevertheless, when the tides come in there is a cinema, bowling alley and amusements to keep you busy. Fleetwood Ferry Beach Fleetwood Ferry beach features views of Morecombe Bay, it features sandflats and marshes, which attract many birds, being the perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts. The beach also features two original Victorian lighthouses, and a ferry, which can take you to Knott end, where there are spots for food and ice cream. Rossall Beach Rossall Beach is located on the northern side of the promenade at Cleveleys. The beach consists of sand and pebbles and on a clear day great views, being able to see the hills and mountains of the lake district, and to the south the Blackpool tower. Jubilee Beach Jubilee beach, Cleveleys, is four miles north of Blackpool. The beach is famous for its sand and sunsets, and with its multi-award-winning promenade, which just received a £26 million renovation in 2010, it is definitely worth the visit. READ MORE: 5 of the best beaches within a two-hour drive from Bolton Stunning beaches to visit this weekend Liverpool's Albert and Salthouse Docks is the only Blue Flag holding marina in the country. The Blue Flag is the world's most recognised award for beaches, marinas and inland bathing waters and, to qualify, each applicant must meet and maintain a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety and accessibility criteria. Blue Flag beaches are also free for all to enjoy. Meaning, visitors should expect the same quality as destinations like Spain or Trinidad and Tobago, without the price tag. Keep Britain Tidy's Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said: 'In England we are lucky enough to have some of the best beaches in the world. It's wonderful to see the Seaside Award flying proudly over 10 of them in the North West, as well as a Blue Flag at Liverpool's iconic Albert and Salthouse docks, demonstrating their quality to residents and visitors alike. 'The awards are a credit to the collective efforts of beach and site managers, volunteers, residents and businesses who should take pride today in their tireless efforts to maintain and improve some of our best-loved and most popular blue spaces.'

The "This is The Life" singer said she was interested in finding out how much it would cost to have her name attached to a football ground. 3 Amy Macdonald has revealed she is looking to buy naming rights for a football stadium Credit: Getty 3 The singer is eyeing up Partick Thistle's Firhill Stadium, currently sponsored by car buying platform Wyre Credit: Willie Vass 3 Macdonald's husband Richard Foster played for Thistle for two years Credit: Kenny Ramsay She told BBC Radio Scotland's Off the Ball that Firhill would be her preference because it is closest to her home in Glasgow and because her husband, ex-footballer Richard Foster, had enjoyed a successful spell there as a player from 2020 to 2022. Macdonald, 37, said: "I actually want to find out how much the stadiums are charging because I think it would be funny. "Just because then you could make something called the Amy Macdonald Stadium. "It's like, Ed Sheeran sponsors Ipswich Town. "Their shirt front, they've always got his albums on it." Asked what stadium she would like her name above, she replied: "I think it would probably be Thistle to be fair. "It's close by and Richard had a great time there and he actually still goes and watches them quite regularly. "It's probably the nearest stadium." Responding to the suggestion the ground could be called "The Amy Macdonald Firhill Stadium", she replied: "It's got a ring to it." Macdonald may have to wait for her number one choice as Partick Thistle's home is already sponsored by car purchasing platform Wyre. Amy Macdonald hosts pop-up show at Glasgow shopping centre The famous ground in the Maryhill area of Glasgow is currently known as the Wyre Stadium at Firhill, as part of a three year deal signed in 2023. However, if the singer-songwriter was to pursue her interest in sponsoring a football club, she would be joining a long line of musicians to show their support for the beautiful game. In Scotland, Wet Wet Wet famously sponsored the shirts of their hometown club, Clydebank FC, in 1993. In 2010, big hearted Dundee band The View became sponsors of their old football team, Dryburgh Athletic Under 11s, after it emerged the kids couldn't afford to buy new strips. The band all grew up on the Dryburgh estate and singer Kyle Falconer and lead guitarist Pete Reilly both played for the under-11 side as children. Then in 2018, Scots rockers Mogwai sponsored St Roch's Primary and Deaf School in Glasgow with home and away kits by featuring the band's name as well as the school logo embroidered on the front. Elsewhere, in 1999, DJ Fatboy Slim invested in his local side Brighton, with his Skint Records label logo emblazoned on the shirts, and in 2017 Jake Bugg signed a 10-month shirt sponsorship deal with his beloved Notts County. In 2018, The Libertines linked up with Margate FC to launch a new kit featuring the band's logo and in 2021, Ed Sheeran showed his support for Ipswich Town with a sponsorship deal that will run to the end of the current 2024-25 season. Macdonald, from Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, has just released her first single since 2021, "Is This What You've Been Waiting For". Last week she launched her new album and a European tour with a pop-up gig in Glasgow's Princes Square shopping centre. Aussie influencers delete video of ‘abhorrent' koala trick after backlash

A couple travelling around Australia have pulled down a controversial guide on how to coax koalas down from trees and take selfies with them. A couple travelling around Australia have pulled down a controversial guide on how to coax koalas down from trees and take selfies with them. Their decision to delete the video came after the nation's largest rescue group called it abhorrent and warned that anybody who copied their behaviour would risk severe injury. The New South Wales-based travellers advertised their DIY six-step video as a foolproof process to avoid expensive wildlife parks. The video shows the man using his secret. Trick to coax the koala down before warning viewers to standby in case of attack and then shows the woman gaining close contact and petting the animal. Yahoo News has opted not to describe the method used in the video as it can induce stress in koalas. The couple behind the stunt told Yahoo News they were just playing around. At least 3 experts were familiar with the specific methods used to engage with the wild koala, saying it was only ever used as a last resort to capture sick. Or injured animals. The video was removed after Yahoo News advised the couple of the concerns raised by wires. While koalas are not as dangerous as venomous snakes or crocodiles, they are able to inflict devastating wounds. And that's the key reason Dr. Tanya Bishop, the head vet at Wyre's Animal rescue Service, was troubled by the influencer couple's video. She said, it's step 1, step 2, step 3. It looks very much like they're trying to show people a method of summoning a wild koala, and to me, that's The most horrifying thing. Why would you post something like that? There's one particular moment in the clip when Bishop believes the woman risked being scalped by the koala. She said, when she's taking a selfie, if that koala was frightened of her being in its way and in its territory, there's every reason it could have dug its teeth or claws into her head. In Victoria, where the video was filmed, interfering with a koala without a permit can carry a fine of up to $46,154 and or 2 years in jail.
