The beaches flying the Seaside Awards Flag are:
• Blackpool South - Blackpool Council

• Bispham - Blackpool Council
• St Annes Pier - Fylde Borough Council
• Morecambe South Beach - Lancaster City Council
• North Beach – Morecambe - Lancaster City Council
• Fleetwood Ferry Beach* - Wyre Borough Council
• Fleetwood Marine Beach - Wyre Borough Council

Blackpool South Beach
Blackpool South Beach offers a wide stretch of sand and is generally a quieter beach than others in Blackpool. South of the beach sits Blackpool's pleasure beach, a large amusement park, meaning the beach is a great day out for the kids and those who enjoy rides.
Blackpool Central
Blackpool Central Beach is situated in the town centre. The seafront features three large piers, and the famous Blackpool tower. With deckchairs available for hire, you are in for a relaxing day out.

Bispham
Bispham is situated between Blackpool North shore and the Cleveleys and is a nice beach to escape the holiday crowds in Blackpool. The beach features a promenade allowing you to walk along the man-made sea defenses, and features views along the coast and out towards the Irish sea.
St Annes Pier
St Annes Pier is the seaside town of Lytham, only 5 miles down the road from Blackpool. The beach features cafes, children's amusements, pitch and putt golf, a paddling pool, bandstand and a small train. The beach also includes seafront promenade gardens, including a waterfall, pond and ducks. There's also lots of sand, meaning it is the perfect place for children to build sandcastles.
Morecambe South and North Beach
Morecambe South and North Beaches feature the largest expanse of intertidal mudflats and sand in the UK, covering 120 square miles, therefore there's definitely enough room for the whole family! The beaches are backed by rock sea defences. There is art and games for children along the promenade, and the statue of Eric Morecambe also sits on the prom. However, Morecambe is known for their fast-moving tides, so make sure to not get too relaxed! Nevertheless, when the tides come in there is a cinema, bowling alley and amusements to keep you busy.
Fleetwood Ferry Beach
Fleetwood Ferry beach features views of Morecombe Bay, it features sandflats and marshes, which attract many birds, being the perfect spot for wildlife enthusiasts. The beach also features two original Victorian lighthouses, and a ferry, which can take you to Knott end, where there are spots for food and ice cream.
Rossall Beach
Rossall Beach is located on the northern side of the promenade at Cleveleys. The beach consists of sand and pebbles and on a clear day great views, being able to see the hills and mountains of the lake district, and to the south the Blackpool tower.
Jubilee Beach
Jubilee beach, Cleveleys, is four miles north of Blackpool. The beach is famous for its sand and sunsets, and with its multi-award-winning promenade, which just received a £26 million renovation in 2010, it is definitely worth the visit.

Stunning beaches to visit this weekend
Liverpool's Albert and Salthouse Docks is the only Blue Flag holding marina in the country.
The Blue Flag is the world's most recognised award for beaches, marinas and inland bathing waters and, to qualify, each applicant must meet and maintain a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety and accessibility criteria.
Blue Flag beaches are also free for all to enjoy. Meaning, visitors should expect the same quality as destinations like Spain or Trinidad and Tobago, without the price tag.
Keep Britain Tidy's Chief Executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said: 'In England we are lucky enough to have some of the best beaches in the world. It's wonderful to see the Seaside Award flying proudly over 10 of them in the North West, as well as a Blue Flag at Liverpool's iconic Albert and Salthouse docks, demonstrating their quality to residents and visitors alike.
'The awards are a credit to the collective efforts of beach and site managers, volunteers, residents and businesses who should take pride today in their tireless efforts to maintain and improve some of our best-loved and most popular blue spaces.'

Asking Eric: Husband disapproves of spouse's international birthday trip

Dear Eric: I am planning a getaway with my best friend from grade school. We live in different parts of the United States but keep in touch and see each other when we can. We want to celebrate each of us turning 60 this year by going to a Caribbean destination for a few days. My husband of more than 30 years is not a beach person, so he's glad to be off the hook for a vacation like this.
