Here's Why the 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Has Two Different Charging Ports
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is all-new and hybrid only, including a plug-in hybrid option. Four versions of the RAV4 will be offered with the updated PHEV system: SE, XSE, Woodland and GR Sport. But between those four trims are, weirdly, two different ways to charge. The GR Sport and SE models both come with the Level 2 J1772 charging port and can juice up their battery at 11 kW (more than the 6.6 kW of the previous RAV4 PHEV). If you've owned a plug-in hybrid before, you'll be familiar with this five-pin charge port. It's slower than DC fast charging, but it's the one you'll find in homes and apartment complexes across the country. Level 2 is the most common way plug-in hybrids charge up, their smaller batteries not necessarily needing the extra juice provided by the ability to charge at higher rates. However, Toyota didn't think one way to charge was enough, so the Woodland and XSE models have a DC fast-charging port. Toyota says this will allow the RAV4 to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Toyota's All-New Sixth-Gen RAV4 Breaks Cover, More Details Inside
Last Updated: Toyota plans to launch the new RAV4 in over 180 countries and regions worldwide later this year. Toyota has officially revealed the sixth-generation RAV4. Known as a best-seller in the United States and a popular SUV worldwide, the new RAV4 now comes only as a hybrid (HEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV). As per Team Bhp, there will be no petrol-only version this time. A sportier GR Sport model will also be available. Design At the front, it features C-shaped LED headlights and a grille painted to match the body colour. Large air intakes add a sporty touch, while trapezoidal wheel arches and a striking line run from the front doors to the rear pillars. The wheels come in 17, 18, or 20 inches, depending on which trim you pick. At the back, LED taillights stretch across the tailgate, accompanied by a large roof spoiler and practical roof rails. The rear bumper gets a rugged skid plate. Dimensions & Variants The new RAV4 measures roughly 4.6 metres in length, with height varying between 1.69 and 1.72 metres, depending on the model. The wheelbase remains at 2.69 metres. advetisement There are three main styles to pick from: Core, Sport, and Rugged. Each style offers different trims – the Core includes LE, XLE, and Limited; Rugged introduces the new Woodland grade; and Sport features SE, XSE, and the sporty GR Sport trim. Interior Inside, the new RAV4 features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system in either 10.5 or 12.9 inches, depending on the model. It offers a heads-up display and a premium nine-speaker JBL audio system, with a six-speaker system standard. Notably, Toyota has removed physical buttons for climate control, replacing them with digital controls on the touchscreen. The new infotainment system runs on Toyota's Arene software platform, marking a step towards fully software-defined vehicles. Powertrain Toyota has dropped pure petrol engines for the RAV4's new generation. It now comes exclusively as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Both use a 2.5-litre petrol engine but differ in power: HEV: Produces 226 Bhp in front-wheel drive and 236 Bhp with all-wheel drive. PHEV: Only all-wheel drive, delivering a powerful 320 Bhp. Thanks to improvements in the transaxle, power control unit, and a larger battery with advanced silicon carbide semiconductors, the PHEV model packs extra punch. Range and Charging The PHEV can drive up to 80 kilometres on electric power alone. Certain trims like the XSE and Woodland also support DC fast charging via a CCS port, which can recharge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Toyota plans to launch the new RAV4 globally later this year, making it available in more than 180 countries and regions. The Toyota Corolla Cross Is a Little Better-Looking for 2026
The 2026 Corolla Cross will not be the most riveting little crossover you've ever seen or driven, but its cheerful demeanor and hybrid powertrain option make it a compelling choice in a crowded segment. For 2026, Toyota's giving it a bit of a refresh, and the gas and hybrid models both get different faces. To us, the hybrid is the more handsome of the two redos. It gets a color-matched grille that adds to the Corolla Cross' funky style. There are also new colors like the Cavalry Blue that typically adorns Toyota's TRD-branded trucks and SUVs. The hybrid also gets a new 18-inch wheel option for SE and XSE trim levels. The hybrid powertrain remains the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a hybrid system (196 combined horsepower) and features the same on-demand electric all-wheel drive.

Toyota Revamps Corolla Cross for 2026: See What's Changed
Toyota has introduced its 2026 Corolla Cross today, and we're here to get you up to speed. A key change for the 2026 production year includes a revised front fascia with a color-matched grille for the hybrid and a wide, rugged grille for the gas-powered model. The exterior also receives new 18-inch alloy wheel options with a dark gray finish on the XLE and a black finish on the XSE, a new Calvary Blue paint, and an optional two-tone Calvary Blue with Jet Black Roof configuration on the SE and XSE. The redesigned console area is complemented by last year's newly introduced 10.5-inch infotainment display, which carries over. Comparable compact SUVs in the 2026 Corolla Cross's segment include the Honda HR-V, the Hyundai Kona, the Chevrolet Trailblazer, and the Mazda CX-30. However, as of now, the Trailblazer is the only vehicle in this lot with 2026 specs on its manufacturer's site. While not yet fully released, the 2026 Trailblazer's specs highlight an 11-inch standard infotainment display topping the Corolla Cross' optional 10.5-inch touchscreen and an available set of larger 19-inch high-gloss Black machined-aluminum wheels. Still, you'll get better mileage with the 2026 Corolla Cross, which, unlike the Trailblazer, offers three true hybrid grades with up to a manufacturer-estimated combined 42 MPG. Hybrid 2026 Corolla Cross trims also have standard all-wheel drive (AWD) across all versions, a new bumper, and a net combined horsepower rating of 196. Toyota's three gas-powered 2026 Corolla Cross grades offer up to 32 combined MPG and are available in AWD or front-wheel drive (FWD). The inside of the 2026 Corolla Cross has seen quite a few changes from the previous model year. The front console features a new design optimizing storage and a sleek Portobello interior color with the XLE trim. Unlike last year's version, Toyota offers the Cold Weather package with a heated steering wheel and heated front seats as standard within the XLE AWD and Hybrid XSE grades, but optional in the LE AWD and SE trims. This 2026 compact crossover SUV's hybrid grades include the S, SE, and XSE, while the internal combustion engine (ICE) variants come in L, LE, and XLE trims. The cabins of the L, LE, S, and SE interiors contain durable fabric-trimmed upholstery, while SofTex synthetic leather is in the XLE and XSE. The 10.5-inch infotainment display is standard within the XLE and XSE, but optional with the Multimedia Upgrade for the LE and SE. Otherwise, you'll receive an 8-inch touchscreen. While the hybrid 2026 Corolla Cross grades produce 196 net combined horsepower, the gas-powered version delivers 169 horsepower. Those who want to move up from the standard six-speaker setup can opt for the nine-speaker JBL sound system, available on the XLE and XSE. All trims have standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which carries over from last year. Toyota reports that its 2026 Corolla Cross's TNGA-C platform gives the SUV handling akin to that of a car, further solidifying its crossover status. This car-like feel is primarily attributed to the chassis and available suspension types, such as sport-tuned suspension on hybrid grades. Toyota brought meaningful updates to the new Corolla Cross, even if some are less noticeable. The most apparent changes are the revised front fascia with refreshed grilles, eye-popping exterior color, and fresh available wheel designs. Still, drivers will likely appreciate more subtle touches like the redesigned center console's emphasis on space. Whether you select the hybrid or ICE version, you'll receive quality fuel economy, but the hybrid better distinguishes itself in the increasingly crowded compact SUV segment with its more robust powertrain.
