Dubai Restaurant Week is making a delicious return
Details about who'll be participating and exclusive set menu prices have been unveiled. Any plans to diet or detox will have to wait as the Dubai Restaurant Week is officially set to return. Kicking off on 9 May and running until 25 May, the citywide event will feature 17 days of food-related events, activities, promotions, and appearances by food celebrities, each highlighting and celebrating Dubai's dynamic culinary scene, from homegrown heroes to fine-dining experiences. As part of Dubai Restaurant Week, over 100 restaurants across the city will offer exclusive set menus at exceptional prices. Think two-course meals for AED 125 per person and three-course ones for AED 250 per person. You might want to cleanse your palate for this one. Some of the concepts participating this year include the newly opened Studio Frantzen at Atlantis The Palm. The special set menu at XU inside Kempinski Hotel, Mall of the Emirates features favourites such as the Crispy Salt and Pepper Squid and delicious Duck Spring Rolls. The FACT award-winning REIF Japanese Kushiyaki in Dar Wasl offers street food-style bites, including Crispy Baby Squid, Creamy Miso Burrata, and Angus Beef Claypot. The newly opened Duck & Waffle in DIFC is also one of the restaurants participating in Dubai Restaurant Week, serving dishes as part of the event. More eateries are expected to join the lineup soon. Much like last year, the festival aims to illuminate the city's culinary creativity by offering an array of immersive culinary experiences. These include the opportunity to savour MICHELIN-starred menus crafted by celebrity chefs and explore sustainable dining practices. Additionally, the festival will pay tribute to the contributions of chefs, culinary pioneers, gourmet influencers, and tastemakers who play pivotal roles in shaping and enriching Dubai's gastronomic scene. Xavier transfer Dailyn Swain follows Sean Miller to Texas, per report Dailyn Swain, who played two seasons for Sean Miller and the Xavier Musketeers before entering the NCAA transfer portal late last month, is joining Miller and the Texas Longhorns, according to multiple reports Tuesday, including from ESPN's Jonathan Givony. Swain, from Columbus, Ohio, reportedly planned a visit to Kentucky and considered the Ohio State Buckeyes. He entered the portal shortly after news that Miller was leaving XU for Texas. Advertisement Swain averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 28.5 minutes per game as a sophomore for the Muskies. What to know about Richard Pitino, Xavier basketball's new head coach Richard Pitino, the son of St. John's Red Storm head coach Rick Pitino, will coach in the Big East Conference for the first time as head coach of the Xavier Musketeers. Pitino worked as an assistant for the Cougars during the 2004-05 season. Mack, a former Xavier player and coach who was believed to be the front-runner to replace Miller, announced Tuesday night that he's returning for his second season as the Cougars' head coach. Pitino's replacement at Minnesota was then-Xavier assistant Ben Johnson. When the Golden Gophers fired Pitino, he got the New Mexico job less than 24 hours later. Pitino's New Mexico squad defeated a Big East team in the NCAA tournament. Egypt aims for 30mln tourists annually as U Hotels expands in Alexandria
Egypt's tourism sector is ramping up efforts to achieve the Ministry of Tourism's 2030 vision, targeting an annual capacity of 30 million tourists and generating $30bn in revenue. This ambitious goal is being pursued through strategic expansions in hotel capacity across the country's cities and governorates. As part of these efforts, U Hotels Management and Tourism Development has inaugurated its latest property, XU San Stefano, a luxury beachfront hotel in Alexandria's prestigious San Stefano district. The first phase of the hotel includes 40 suites, complemented by premium amenities such as the Al Fayrouz Restaurant, a modern reception area, a coffee shop, and a private 100-meter stretch of Mediterranean coastline. Ehab El Gendy, Chairperson of U Tourism Development and Vice Chairperson of Marseilia Beach, highlighted that XU San Stefano is designed to offer a high-end hospitality experience with diverse accommodation options. He also revealed plans to expand the hotel's capacity by 50%, adding 40 more rooms within the next six months.
