Xavier transfer Dailyn Swain follows Sean Miller to Texas, per report

Xavier transfer Dailyn Swain follows Sean Miller to Texas, per report Dailyn Swain, who played two seasons for Sean Miller and the Xavier Musketeers before entering the NCAA transfer portal late last month, is joining Miller and the Texas Longhorns, according to multiple reports Tuesday, including from ESPN's Jonathan Givony. Swain, from Columbus, Ohio, reportedly planned a visit to Kentucky and considered the Ohio State Buckeyes. He entered the portal shortly after news that Miller was leaving XU for Texas. Advertisement Swain averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 28.5 minutes per game as a sophomore for the Muskies. He averaged 4.6 points and 3 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game as a freshman. Xavier Musketeers guard Dailyn Swain lays up a shot in the second half of the NCAA tournament against Illinois. Swain scored 11 points in XU's NCAA tournament First Four win against the Longhorns in Dayton. He scored a team-high 27 points and added eight rebounds in the Muskies' Round of 64 loss to Illinois. What to know about Richard Pitino, Xavier basketball's new head coach

What to know about Richard Pitino, Xavier basketball's new head coach Richard Pitino, the son of St. John's Red Storm head coach Rick Pitino, will coach in the Big East Conference for the first time as head coach of the Xavier Musketeers. Pitino graduated from Providence, now a Big East rival of the Muskies. Advertisement He's been a head coach at Florida International, Minnesota and New Mexico. At 42 years old, Pitino is 14 years younger than the Muskies' previous head coach, Sean Miller. New Mexico Lobos head coach Richard Pitino reacts in the second half against the Marquette Golden Eagles during the NCAA Tournament First Round at Rocket Arena. More about Richard Pitino, XU's new head coach: Pitino's first job on a college basketball coaching staff was at Charleston, where Chris Mack is head coach. Pitino worked as an assistant for the Cougars during the 2004-05 season. Mack, a former Xavier player and coach who was believed to be the front-runner to replace Miller, announced Tuesday night that he's returning for his second season as the Cougars' head coach. Pitino's replacement at Minnesota was then-Xavier assistant Ben Johnson. When the Golden Gophers fired Pitino, he got the New Mexico job less than 24 hours later. Advertisement Minnesota hired Ben Johnson, an XU assistant at the time under then-head coach Travis Steele. The Golden Gophers parted ways earlier this week with Johnson after four seasons. Pitino's New Mexico squad defeated a Big East team in the NCAA tournament. The Lobos' first-round win against Marquette was the program's first NCAA tournament win since 2011, and Pitino's only win in the Big Dance as New Mexico's head coach. Xavier split with Marquette during the regular season, losing at Cintas Center but avenging that loss in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles ousted XU from the Big East tournament. Donovan Dent, Pitino's leading scorer this season, entered the transfer portal. It is not known whether Dent will follow Pitino to Xavier, but many Musketeers' fans will be hoping for that. Advertisement Dent, the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, ranked 12th in Division I with 20.4 points per game. Dent scored 21 points in the NCAA tournament win over Marquette, and 14 points in the Round of 32 loss to Michigan State. This story was updated to add a gallery. Egypt aims for 30mln tourists annually as U Hotels expands in Alexandria

Egypt's tourism sector is ramping up efforts to achieve the Ministry of Tourism's 2030 vision, targeting an annual capacity of 30 million tourists and generating $30bn in revenue. This ambitious goal is being pursued through strategic expansions in hotel capacity across the country's cities and governorates. As part of these efforts, U Hotels Management and Tourism Development has inaugurated its latest property, XU San Stefano, a luxury beachfront hotel in Alexandria's prestigious San Stefano district. The first phase of the hotel includes 40 suites, complemented by premium amenities such as the Al Fayrouz Restaurant, a modern reception area, a coffee shop, and a private 100-meter stretch of Mediterranean coastline. Ehab El Gendy, Chairperson of U Tourism Development and Vice Chairperson of Marseilia Beach, highlighted that XU San Stefano is designed to offer a high-end hospitality experience with diverse accommodation options. He also revealed plans to expand the hotel's capacity by 50%, adding 40 more rooms within the next six months. El Gendy emphasized that the opening of XU San Stefano reinforces Alexandria's position on Egypt's tourism development map, further establishing the city as a prime Mediterranean destination. © 2024 Daily News Egypt.
