Is the Xbox server down right now?

Image via Xbox. Xbox has recently faced some serious server outages today. Although the situation has been handled by the company pretty well, but major Xbox services were heavily affected. This is the first major server blackout after more than a year, when the whole Xbox Live feature became inaccessible. The proper reason for this server outage hasn't yet been revealed by Xbox yet, but it's good to see that the servers have become live very soon after the outbreaks. Let's explore in detail about this major issue in the Xbox camp. Xbox servers came across with severe outages today Today, on August 14, 2025, many Xbox users have reported that the servers of this popular console had been going through major outages. The majority of the console features which were affected by this outage was associated with Party Management, viewing and sending messages to friends, sending and receiving game invites, and others. The server blackouts even went beyond current gen consoles, affecting the likes of Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Xbox on PC. However, the official Twitter handle of Xbox Support quickly looked into the situation and assured that the engineers were about to fix those issues, and eventually they did fix the server outage issues very soon. The good thing was, playing or streaming multiplayer matches via Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Store purchases were unaffected, so the whole gameplay experience wasn't disrupted at all. Still, many fans were disgusted as today the second weekend of Battlefield 6 open beta kicked off . So, major Party Management problems obviously created nuisance in communication while playing that game. However, as the issue is now fixed, fans can play BF6 open beta now without any hassle until August 17. Despite imposing a quick fix, Xbox didn't go in detail about the specific reason behind this server outage. But it's believed that whatever may be the reason, is nothing huge to worry about as it was not any kind of security breach or data leak. Xbox hikes prices globally with the Series X now more expensive than a PS5

The Xbox family of consoles, accessories and games just got a little less accessible with a major price hike across a number of regions. (Image: Microsoft) Microsoft has revealed a number of price hikes affecting the Xbox family of consoles, accessories, and games, making gaming significantly more expensive across major regions. Gaming prices are a hot topic at the moment for… obvious reasons. It's a curious time to be a gamer as tariffs threaten to encroach on the profits of most of the major gaming companies (and we know how much they love those), and after the Nintendo Switch 2 price reveal in the wake of its huge Switch 2 Direct showcase, it seemed that players recoiled at the price of a console once again. We simply can't win when it comes to this industry, as it seems that the cost of our favourite hobby is spiralling out of control, and it's set to get even worse. A recent PS5 price hike struck players looking to get stuck into this generation of gaming, and it prompted the question from fans of gaming at large - what exactly is happening in camp Xbox, and what are they going to unleash upon consumers? Sadly, it looks like we finally have the answer, and it's not going to make you feel much better, though it might give Sony the illusion of the upper hand. It's a brutal change in prices, and one that puts the price of the base Xbox Series X over the price of the PS5 in the United States and the United Kingdom. Consoles, controllers, headsets, and first-party games worldwide will all be affected, with the United States bearing the brunt of the cost changes. The cost of an Xbox Series S 512GB will rise to $379.99 from $299.99, and the cost of an Xbox Series X will be $599.99, up a huge $100 from $499.99. You can buy a PS5 Disc console for $100 less than that. Another significant change is the cost of first-party games, with the company clearly taking inspiration from Mario Kart World's pricing to crank 'some of our new, first-party games starting this holiday season to $79.99.' There is no word yet on how the price of these games will be affected across the world yet, but we'll have to wait and see what Xbox deems to be a game worthy of such a cost. Xbox Series S 512GB – £299.99 (up £50 from £249.99) – £299.99 (up £50 from £249.99) Xbox Series X 1TB – £499.99 (up £20 from £479.99) – £499.99 (up £20 from £479.99) Xbox Series X 2TB – £589.99 (up £40 from £549.99) Xbox Series S 512GB – $379.99 (up $80 from $299.99) – $379.99 (up $80 from $299.99) Xbox Series X 1TB – $599.99 (up $100 from $499.99) – $599.99 (up $100 from $499.99) Xbox Series X 2TB – $729.99 (up $130 from $599.99) Either way, this is a shocking twist that proves that nobody in the gaming industry is safe from these hugely impactful price hikes, making things especially difficult by implementing these changes immediately . We hope you didn't wait to pick up a console.
