Ryan Reynolds' ad agency, Maximum Effort, was behind the Gwyneth Paltrow Astronomer ad

Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in a viral ad for Astronomer, a tech company. Astronomer had earlier gone viral after its CEO and head of HR were filmed at a Coldplay concert. Ryan Reynolds' company Maximum Effort helped produce the promotional spot. Gwyneth Paltrow isn't the only big name attached to Astronomer's cheeky response to "Coldplaygate." Ryan Reynolds' company, Maximum Effort, announced its involvement with a lighthearted X post on Sunday. "Thank you for your interest in Maximum Effort, @astronomerio! We'll now get back to what we do best: motion pictures with Hugh Jackman, Fastvertising and Wrexham football," the post said. "We'll leave data workflow automation to Gwyneth Pa Astronomer." Reynolds launched Maximum Effort with his business partner, George Dewey, in 2018. The company makes ads, movies, and shows, often with an irreverent bent. Astronomer's cofounder and new CEO, Pete DeJoy, thanked Maximum Effort in a LinkedIn post on Sunday after praising his staff. "I'd also like to thank the team at Maximum Effort for their remarkable work with our very temporary spokesperson," DeJoy said. "As Gwyneth Paltrow said, now it's time for us to return to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers. We look forward to what this next chapter holds for Astronomer." Though Astronomer began July as a little-known tech company, it grew into a pop culture phenomenon after its now former CEO, Andy Byron, attended a Coldplay concert with the company's now former head of human resources, Kristin Cabot. A "kiss cam" projected the pair embracing on a jumbotron during the concert. Cabot spun around and shielded her face, while Byron attempted to duck out of view. "Uh oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," Coldplay's front man, Chris Martin, said onstage. A clip of the moment — now dubbed "Coldplaygate" — was shared widely on social media, where people cracked jokes and shared related memes. Companies and sports teams also got in on the fun. Following the flood of attention, Byron and Cabot resigned from their positions with the company. Astronomer was left to pick up the remains of its public reputation. That's when Paltrow entered the scene. Paltrow, who was previously married to Martin, appeared as a "temporary" spokesperson for Astronomer in a one-minute video shared on social media. At the time of writing, the video has 149,000 likes and over 36 million views. Instead of answering the internet's burning questions, Paltrow used the platform to promote Astronomer's products. "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer," Paltrow said at the video's end. Representatives for Astronomer, Maximum Effort, and Paltrow didn't respond to a request for comment. Pakistan kick-starts preparation for issuance of debut Panda bond

KARACHI: Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan, have initiated a series of pre-marketing investor meetings in Beijing, China, from July 7 till 11, 2025, as part of a non-deal investor roadshow (NDR) in preparation for Pakistan's debut Panda Bond issuance. The MoF delegation has held technical discussions with potential investors, underwriters, prospective guarantors, Chinese Rating Agency, and Chinese legal counsel. Khurram Schehzad, advisor to the finance minister, reported in a post on X post on Wednesday that meetings were focused on Pakistan's macroeconomic review and outlook, ongoing debt management reforms, and the structure and progress of the proposed Panda Bond transaction. The discussions also covered regulatory processes, credit enhancement arrangements, and investor interest in the forthcoming issuance. The NDR drew strong initial interest, signaling investor confidence in Pakistan's reform trajectory and its growing credibility in international capital markets, according to the X post. 'The visit reflects the government's commitment to proactive investor engagement and diversification of funding sources through access to China's onshore capital market.' The inaugural Panda Bond is expected to be launched this year, following the completion of documentation and required approvals, including credit guarantees from multilateral development partners. Panda Bond: govt to raise $200m from Chinese investors: Aurangzeb 'This milestone marks Pakistan's strategic move to tap China's deep and diversified onshore bond market, expand its investor base, and diversify funding sources through local currency instruments backed by multilateral partners. 'The successful NDR so far reflects the government's commitment to innovative and forward-looking financial diplomacy - and sends a clear message: Pakistan is ready to enter new capital frontiers with confidence and credibility.' Earlier, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the size of the Panda Bond issuance would be around $300 million.

Was the shooting of Israeli embassy staff at Jewish museum a false flag?

Following the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, DC, last week, some social media users claimed the incident was a 'false flag' because of when and where it happened. 'So you're telling me two Israeli diplomats got killed across the street from an FBI field office outside a Jewish museum that had *closed* 4 hours earlier,' said a May 22 X post. 'And one day after Israel fired at European diplomats and Europe was talking sanctions and you don't think it's a false flag?' Other X posts similarly speculated about the deadly shooting on May 21. The 'false flag' phrase stems from the misuse of literal flags. Historically, a false flag operation referred to a military force or a ship flying another country's flag for deception purposes. Some confirmed false flag operations have occurred throughout history. But they have been outpaced in recent years by conspiracy theories that label real events as 'false flags,' or an attack that's designed to look like it was perpetrated by one person or party, when in fact it was committed by someone else. Unfounded false flag claims often follow mass violence incidents, including Israel's war on Gaza, the 2022 Uvalde school shooting and the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. Historians warn that social media rumours alleging that big news events are 'false flags' should be viewed sceptically. Real false flag operations are logistically complex and tend to involve many people. PolitiFact found no credible evidence to support the claim that the Israeli embassy employees' shooting is a false X post said the shooting, which happened on a Wednesday, is a 'false flag' because the museum had closed four hours earlier. The museum usually closes at 5pm on Wednesdays, except for the first Wednesday of each month, when it closes at 8pm. However, the American Jewish Committee hosted an event on May 21 at the museum, scheduled to end at 9pm. Preliminary investigations say the shooting happened after 9pm local time when the two victims, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were exiting an event at the Capital Jewish Museum, said Pamela A Smith, the Metropolitan Police Department police chief, at a May 21 press conference. Police identified the suspect as Elias Rodriguez, a 31-year-old man from Chicago, Illinois. Rodriguez chanted, 'Free, free, Palestine' after he was arrested, Smith said. The Justice Department charged him with the murder of foreign officials and other crimes. The shooting, which has widely been criticised, came as Israel's actions in Gaza has caused a global outrage and protests calling for ceasefire. Jeanine Pirro, interim US attorney for the District of Columbia, said on May 22 that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime and 'terrorism'. The Capital Jewish Museum is diagonally across the street from the FBI's DC field office. FBI Director Kash Patel and the Israeli government have condemned the shooting. There is no evidence that the shooting was a false flag. We rate this claim False.
