Yemen's Houthis claim fresh attack against Israel

Sanaa, May 30 (UNI) Yemen's Houthi group took responsibility Thursday night for launching a fresh "hypersonic ballistic missile" attack against central Israel, saying it was aimed at Ben Gurion Airport. "We carried out a military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel, using a hypersonic ballistic missile," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a statement, aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. Sarea said the group would continue its attacks "until the Israeli aggression on Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted." "We will continue to ban Israeli air traffic to and from Ben Gurion Airport," the Houthi military spokesperson added. Meanwhile, the Israeli military said in a statement that it intercepted a missile fired by Houthi forces in Yemen towards central Israel. On Wednesday, the Israeli air forces launched airstrikes on the Sanaa airport in the Houthi-held capital Sanaa, destroying the runway, facilities, and the last passenger plane in the airport. The Houthi group, which controls much of northern Yemen, has been targeting Israel since November 2023 to show solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. Bad news for enemies of Israel as IDF creates history by stopping air strikes with new...., Hamas and Houthis can only...

Israel's Iron Beam System (Image-Rafael/ Israel Defence Ministry) Israel's laser defence system: Israel has been one of the biggest victims of terrorism after India in the last few decades. Despite of the countless attacks it has faced from all sides, Israel has never failed to protect its citizens from any imminent danger. Since its formation, Israel has faced multi-front threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthi rebels, and even Iran, but every time the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have protected the residents of Israel. In the most recent defence, IDF have announced the deployment of a new unnamed laser defence system, which is laser defence system similar to Iron Beam. As per a report by the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli Defence Ministry has said that Israel's Rafael Advanced Defence Systems has created the world's advanced laser system called Iron Beam and Laser Defence System. The Jerusalem Post has also reported that the new laser defense system of Israel has some capabilities which set it apart from other air defences. The most talked-about feature of the defence system is that the system can face different types of air threats while working reliably in bad weather. In the significant development from this week, the Israeli military said that it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen toward Israel after warning sirens were activated in some areas in the West Bank, as per a report by news agency IANS. Israel's aerial defence systems Earlier this week, Israel's aerial defence systems intercepted a missile launched by Houthi forces in Yemen, the Israeli military said in a statement. The missile triggered air raid sirens in Jerusalem, the Dead Sea area and settlements in the occupied West Bank, sending millions to shelters around midday. Hypersonic ballistic missile towards Israel? Yemen's Houthis also announced that the group had launched a hypersonic ballistic missile toward Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel, which was reportedly intercepted by Israeli defence systems earlier in the day. 'The rocket forces carried out a qualitative military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport, using a hypersonic ballistic missile,' Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a statement broadcast by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. Houthis claim missile strike on Israeli airport; Israel vows retaliation

Sanaa, May 10 (UNI) Yemen's Houthi movement said on Friday it had launched a "hypersonic ballistic missile" targeting Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, hours after the Israeli military reported intercepting a missile fired from Yemen. The strike, which occurred Friday afternoon, also included a coordinated drone attack on a military facility in Tel Aviv, according to a statement broadcast by the Houthis' al-Masirah television channel. "The enemy's defense systems failed to intercept our missile," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said, claiming the attack shut down airport operations for over an hour and forced "millions" of Israelis into shelters. Sarea said the missile strike was part of an intensifying campaign to impose an aerial blockade on Israel in retaliation for what he described as "war crimes" in Gaza. He urged international airlines to suspend flights to Israel and warned that Israeli ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea remained within missile range. The Israeli military confirmed that its defense systems had been activated and intercepted a projectile over central Israel. Sirens were heard across the Tel Aviv area, sending residents scrambling for shelter. A 55-year-old woman sustained minor injuries while fleeing, emergency services said. Since Israel resumed its military offensive in Gaza on March 18, the Houthis have launched approximately 28 ballistic missiles and dozens of drones toward Israeli territory, according to Israeli media reports. Friday's attack came days after Israeli airstrikes targeted Houthi-held infrastructure, severely damaging the Sanaa International Airport and the Red Sea port of Hodeidah. The escalation also follows an Oman-brokered ceasefire deal reached on Tuesday between the Houthis and the United States, aimed at halting weeks of mutual attacks. Despite the agreement, Houthi leaders have vowed to continue targeting Israel until it ends its military campaign in Gaza and lifts the blockade on the enclave. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz condemned Friday's attack, accusing Iran of orchestrating it. "The Houthis continue to launch Iranian missiles at Israel. As we promised, we will respond forcefully in Yemen and wherever necessary," he said in a statement. The Houthi group, which controls most of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, has portrayed the ceasefire deal with the United States as a political achievement. Nasr al-Din Amir, head of the Houthi media authority, said the agreement had "neutralized" U.S. military pressure. "Israel now stands exposed on the front line, within range of our missiles," he said in an interview with al-Masirah. No U.S. airstrikes on Houthi positions in northern Yemen have been reported since the deal took effect on Tuesday. UNI XINHUA GNK

Two missiles fired from Yemen intercepted: Israeli military

Jerusalem: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Friday that it had intercepted two missiles fired from Yemen. In the latest incident this afternoon, air raid sirens were activated in northern Israel, as the IDF stated that it is examining the outcome of interception efforts targeting a ballistic missile. No injuries or damage have been reported so far. It follows the IDF's interception of a missile also launched from Yemen early Friday morning. Israel's national emergency service, MDA, said in a statement that there were no reports of casualties, except for a man who was bruised on his way to a shelter, Xinhua news agency reported. Israel's state-owned Kan TV reported that in the morning incident, interceptor debris hit a kindergarten in Mishmar HaEmek, a kibbutz in northern Israel, but caused no casualties. Earlier on April 27, Israel's military said that it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen toward the Dead Sea. Police said sirens were sounded in the Dead Sea area and the Arava region. No casualties were reported, said the country's Magen David Adom rescue service. Israel's Channel 12 reported that this was the 11th missile the Houthis had launched toward Israel since the beginning of April. Earlier on April 26, Yemen's Houthis claimed responsibility for a missile attack that reportedly triggered sirens across southern Israel. "We targeted the Israeli enemy's Nevatim Air Base in the Negev region using a hypersonic ballistic missile," which had "successfully reached the target," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a televised statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. Sarea said the operation came in response to "the ongoing Israeli offensive on Gaza," vowing to launch more attacks until the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian enclave stops and the blockade on it is lifted. The Houthi group, which controls much of northern Yemen, has been targeting Israeli targets since November 2023 to show solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Houthi Rebels says its attacks led to downing of U.S. F-18 fighter jet

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi Rebels said on Wednesday it had downed a U.S. F-18 fighter jet during an earlier assault on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, and launched fresh drone attacks over the past 24 hours targeting another U.S. carrier and Israeli cities. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a televised statement on the group's al-Masirah TV channel that the attack in the Red Sea resulted in the "downing of an F-18 fighter jet into the sea" and forced the Truman to "retreat toward the Suez Canal." The U.S. Navy said on Monday an F/A-18 Super Hornet was lost at sea after it fell overboard while being moved aboard the USS Harry S. Truman. A U.S. official said initial reports indicated the jet fell as the carrier made a hard turn to evade incoming Houthi fire. Sarea also said the group had targeted the USS Carl Vinson and accompanying warships in the Arabian Sea with drones. "We targeted the U.S. aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson, and its escorting warships using drones," he said. He added that Houthi forces had also launched drone attacks on unspecified military sites in the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon. The claims could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate comment from the U.S. or Israeli militaries. Tensions between Houthis and the United States have escalated since Washington resumed airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen on March 15. The United States has sought to deter the group from targeting Israel, commercial vessels, and U.S. naval assets in the region. The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have said they would halt attacks on Israel and U.S. forces if Israel ends its military campaign in Gaza and allows humanitarian aid into Palestinian territories.
