HAMAMATSU, Japan -- Yamaha Motor hopes to turn robotics into a third manufacturing pillar, adding to the land mobility products such as motorcycles and the marine offerings like outboard motors that generate nearly 90% of the Japanese company's sales.
Yamaha Robotics launches Tuesday, created by integrating the former Yamaha Robotics Holdings with three other companies. Its main products are robotic chipmaking equipment, which can rapidly mount electronic components on semiconductor substrates or perform the back-end process of assembling semiconductors.
