Taylor Swift Recounts Sending Her Mom and Brother to Negotiate for Her Master Recordings: ‘Since I Was a Teenager, I've Been Actively Saving Up Money to Buy My Music Back'
Yara Sameh Taylor Swift detailed sending a powerhouse crew to negotiate the purchase of her master recordings: Her mom and brother. During her Wednesday appearance on the ' New Heights ' podcast, Swift recalled how she reclaimed the master recordings of her first six albums from Shamrock Capitol. She explained the purchase was a long time coming, adding, 'Since I was a teenager, I've been actively saving up money to buy my music back.' Throughout the 2020s, Swift re-recorded the albums she lost the rights to, and thought it was the 'closest I would get to owning my music.' However, after the success of her 'Eras Tour,' she and her team decided it was the perfect time to get back full ownership of her masters. Swift said the reasons she wanted to buy back her music were "deeply personal". 'For me, this is not, 'Oh, I want to own this asset because of its returns, because of the dividends that I will receive over the years,'' Swift explained. 'I want it because these [are] my handwritten diary entries from my whole life. These are the songs I wrote about every phase of my life. This is my photography, my music videos, most of which I funded. My artwork, everything that I've ever done, is in this catalog.' Rather than send 'lawyers or management' to the negotiations, Swift sent her 'mom and brother,' who've been her business partners throughout her career. The pop star said the advantage of sending her family was that they were able to convey 'all the times we've tried to buy [the masters], all the times it's fallen through, all the times we had gotten plans together and figured out something we thought was gonna work and it didn't at the last minute.' After a couple of months of waiting, Swift's mom delivered the good news. 'My mom calls me afterwards and she like, 'Look, you know, they were wonderful, they heard us out, we have no idea which way they're gonna go with this,'' Swift noted. 'And so I was like, I get it, I get it. I haven't gotten my hopes up about this in a decade. It was a couple of months after the Super Bowl, we're in Kansas City and I get a call from my mom, and she's like, 'You got your music.'' Swift albums and associated visuals were purchased in May for an undisclosed nine-figure sum. At the time, she announced the projects would all be released. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Taylor Swift Reveals "The Life of a Showgirl" Release Date, Album Cover, Tracklist, and Sabrina Carpenter Collab
Yara Sameh Taylor Swift has revealed her new album 'The Life of a Showgirl,' will arrive on October 3. She also unveiled the cover art and a tracklist that features Sabrina Carpenter on the title track. Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter Swift made the big reveal on social media and during the Wednesday episode of the 'New Heights Show' podcast, co-hosted by her Super Bowl Champion beau, Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason. The pop star's website is offering variants including 'The Life of a Showgirl: Sweat and Vanilla Perfume' in glitter orange vinyl, deluxe CD and cassette. While the podcast aired, Swift debuted the deluxe album covers on her site. In a post on Instagram, the singer confirmed that she produced the album with Max Martin and Shellback. 'And, baby, that's show business for you. New album The Life of a Showgirl. Out October 3,' Swift captioned. On the podcast, she said that 'The Life of a Showgirl' was inspired by the joy that being on the Eras Tour brought her. 'This album is about what was going on behind the scenes of my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,' Swift explained. 'It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervesence has come through on this record. And like you said, bangers. She also confirmed that the 12 songs on the tracklist will be it for this era — in other words, 'there's no other songs coming.' 'With 'Tortured Poets Department,' I was like here's a data dump of everything I thought, felt, experienced in two or three years. Here's 31 songs. This is 12,' Swift noted. 'There's not a thirteenth, there's not other ones coming. This is the record I've been wanting to make for a very long time. I also wanted it to be every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons, and you couldn't take one out and it be the same album, you couldn't add one and be… It's just right,". 'That focus and that kind of discipline with creating an album and keeping the bar really high is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time,' she continued. 'I tend to write lots and lots of music, so it's a temptation to release lots of music. But oftentimes, I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and on the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my 12th album, I feel like we achieved that and I'm really happy about that.' Leading up to the release of the podcast, fans noticed a countdown on her official website that was counting down to 7 p.m. ET. The landing page featured an image of a door that was featured during the Eras Tour, and as the hours ticked by, four different boxes gradually appeared in different colors and with locks on them. Some fans speculated that each box could represent a different-colored vinyl variant. The 14-time Grammy winner announced 'The Life of a Showgirl' on Tuesday, after a mysterious countdown clock appeared on her website. Fans speculated that her 12th album was in the works, given that the clock was set to run out on the 12th day of the month at 12:12 a.m. ET. The project was then revealed in a sneak peek clip from her 'New Heights Show' appearance shared on social media. Spotify billboards began popping up around the country following the album reveal, sharing a code to a playlist entitled 'And, baby, that's show business for you.' The playlist, comprised of 22 Swift songs, likely contains clues and Easter Eggs about what to expect from 'The Life of a Showgirl.' Some Swifties had already pointed out that all the songs on the playlist were produced by Max Martin and Shellback, which suggested their return for the new album. Swift's last major release, 'The Tortured Poets Department, dropped in April 2024. Two hours after its debut, Swift expanded it into a double album titled 'The Anthology,' which went on to become the best-selling album of the year. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Recording Academy / GRAMMYs (@recordingacademy) The 2025 Grammy nominations indeed reflect a female-forward year, as Beyoncé leads with 11 nominations for her 'Cowboy Carter' album and its attendant singles. Beyonce and Swift are two of the five powerhouse women who are nominated in all three of the Grammys' top general categories this year — record, song and album of the year. Joining them in being nominated for all three of those major prizes are Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. The 67th annual Grammy Awards telecast will have a 'renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,' according to the announcement. Since launching the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to Support Music Professionals last week, the Recording Academy and MusiCares have raised and pledged more than $2 million in emergency aid to music people affected by the wildfires.
