Auburn police arrested Quendesmond Jamaad Kellum, 32, on March 25, 2025, following an investigation into an alleged incident the previous day at a location in the in the 1500 block of North Donahue Drive, which is Yarbrough Elementary School. According to court documents, Kellum, who was responsible for supervising children as part of his role with Auburn City Schools, is accused of forcibly slamming a 9-year-old male student to the ground. Auburn police have not released further details about the child's condition but have not indicated any severe injuries. A felony arrest warrant was issued, and Kellum was booked into the Lee County Jail on a $10,000 bond. According to court records, he has since bonded out and is scheduled to appear in court in May. Auburn City Schools spokesperson Daniel Chesser provided the following statement to WRBL: 'Auburn City Schools is cooperating with law enforcement officials in an ongoing investigation. Due to the nature of this matter, no further public comment will be made available.' Auburn City Schools rely heavily on surveillance video in student areas, except for private locations like restrooms. However, Auburn police have not confirmed whether there is video evidence of the alleged incident. Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding the case to contact Auburn police or the Department of Human Resources. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
