El Paso drive-by shooting spree linked to girlfriend issue, prosecutor says

A drive-by shooting spree resulting in three arrests was linked to an El Paso teenager upset because another guy was messaging his girlfriend while he was previously incarcerated, an assistant district attorney said at a court hearing. There were no injuries reported in a pair of shootings that occurred less than an hour apart on Thursday afternoon, April 24, in the Upper Valley and the Segundo Barrio, El Paso police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros stated in a news release. More news: Federal judge in El Paso orders release of Venezuelan couple, temporarily blocks deportations Antonio Abel Morales, 32, Jordan James Yarde, 17, and a 16-year-old boy, all of West El Paso, were each arrested on charges of deadly conduct and discharge of a firearm, police said. The first shooting occurred at 3:29 p.m. Thursday. Police responded to a call that suspects in a blue vehicle had fired gunshots at a home on Hillview Avenue in the Upper Valley, near Thorn Avenue and Doniphan Drive, police said. About 4:15 p.m., police received a call of shots fired involving a blue Honda Ridgeline pickup truck in the 600 block of Nino Aguilera Street in the Segundo Barrio, police said. An officer spotted the Honda nearby and stopped it by the Circle K store on St. Vrain Street and East Paisano Drive, police said. The three suspects were arrested. A man, a woman and a child were inside one of the homes that was targeted but there were no injuries reported in either shooting, an assistant district attorney said Sunday during a teleconference bond hearing for Yarde. One of the victims had received in a message with a photo showing Yarde holding a firearm, the prosecutor said. Yarde also allegedly told police that he was upset another man had been messaging his girlfriend while he was in custody. "My client does absolutely deny that he was the one who discharged the firearm in this case," said Ed Hernandez, a deputy public defender representing Yarde at the bond hearing. Hernandez added that Yarde lives with his grandmother and is trying to get his GED. The assistant district attorney pointed out that the prosecution is not alleging Yarde was the triggerman but he was in the truck with the driver and the shooter during the shootings. It was not disclosed why Yarde may have been previously in custody. The 16-year-old boy accused in the shootings was handed over to juvenile justice authorities. His name was not disclosed because he is a juvenile. In the Texas criminal justice system, persons 17 and older are considered adults. Yarde allegedly had a vape pen and faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance. Morales faces an added charge of theft of less than $100 with a previous conviction, police said. During the hearing, the prosecution requested that the bonds not be reduced for the safety of the victims and innocent bystanders who could have gotten hurt in the shootings. More: CBP finds fentanyl, meth hidden in bicycle, scooter in El Paso border smuggling cases Magistrate Judge Ruben Nuñez left the bond amounts the same for Morales and Yarde but "split" the bonds with personal recognizance "PR" bonds, which do not require cash or surety to make bail. For each defendant, the deadly conduct charge was $20,000 (split into $5,000 cash/surety, $15,000 PR) and the discharge of a firearm bonds were set at $3,000 ($1,500 cash/surety, $1,500 PR). Morales was issued a $2,000 PR bond on the theft case. Yarde has a $500 bond on the drug possession case, according to jail records. Both men remain incarcerated Sunday at the El Paso County Jail in Downtown, according to a jail log. As part of the bond conditions, Magistrate Judge Nuñez ordered Yarde may not have any weapons, firearms or ammunition, can't use drugs or alcohol and must submit to drug testing. He can't have contact with the co-defendants. He can't have contact with the victims, must stay 200 yards away from their home or place of employment and Yarde will have a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily curfew. Shocking moment brawl erupts in the crowd at Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn as fan is floored by flurry of wild punches

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn put on a show in one of the most highly-anticipated fighting in British boxing history on Saturday night - but the ring wasn't the only place that saw a flurry of punches thrown. Eubank Jr came out on top via unanimous decision in the bout, winning 116-112 on all three judges' scorecards as he fell to his knees before celebrating with his father, who made a shock appearance. There were 65,000 fans in attendance to watch history unfold, but a small section caught the eye as chaos ensued in the crowd in north London. At the floor seats inside the stadium, around a dozen fans were seen in a scuffle during the final undercard match-up between Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur, which saw Yarde also win on points. An argument appeared to be taking place, before punches were suddenly thrown. Two men in particular were seen brawling, with one dropped to the floor as others tried to separate the fight. The fan who seemed to come out on top walked away after dropping the other, with others steaming in and more blows then exchanged, including again from the person who was dropped. A fight at the Chris eubank Jr v Nigel benn last night. — London & UK Street News (@CrimeLdn) April 27, 2025 A brawl erupted in the crowd during an undercard bout of Chris Eubank Jr versus Conor Benn The brawl was eventually split up as the two groups involved went their separate ways, before an ironic bell was heard to end the round of the real fight inside the ring. Some fans were seen climbing over chairs to get involved, as the situation threatened to spiral early on. A few fans appeared to throw punches before things escalated between two people specifically, which resulted in the man being dropped. In the ring, Yarde won via unanimous decision, coming out on top 115-113, 116-112, 116-112 on the three judges' scorecards. It was the third fight between the two, with Yarde winning 2-1 overall. It was perhaps closer than the scorecards suggested, but was a well-received final undercard bout before the main event. The main event also lived up to its billing, with Eubank Jr coming out on top 116-112 on all three scorecards. It was a bout that ebbed and flowed, with Eubank Jr ending his opponent's run of 23 wins three years on from when their rivalry first started and their original bout was scheduled before Benn's drugs test drama. Eubank Jr dropped down in weight, missing weight on the day before the fight and being fined nearly £400,000 because of it. He weighed in fine on the day of the fight. That didn't impact him in terms of the result, though, with the favourite coming out on top in all three judges' scorecards. Lee Every, Kieran McCann and Mark Bates all scored the bout 116-112 in Eubank Jr's favour.

Anthony Yarde settles Lyndon Arthur rivalry with stinker of a fight to see out trilogy

ANTHONY YARDE settled his Lyndon Arthur rivalry with a stinker of a fight. Yarde, 33, lost the original 2020 bout on points, contested in a silent and empty room during the Covid-19 lockdown, when Arthur, 33, put on a jab-and-move masterclass. 3 3 3 But, a year later, Yarde leveled the scores when he blitzed the Manchester man inside four one-sided rounds. Nobody was demanding a rematch and nobody will be watching the replay, after three judges scored the trilogy decider: 115-113, 116-112 and 116-112. Pink-gloved Arthur stuck to his tried and tested playbook, pinging out an orthodox jab from a safe distance. Yarde ate a few of them, as he tried to get within range to land a lead left hook or massive right hand. It was a cagey and even opener that promised to catch fire further down the line. Arthur landed a stiff jab to the Yarde gut in the second round. But the Beast from the East beat his chest in a bold act of defiance. The third round slipped by with minimal action or interest as another undercard bout threatened to go the distance with little eye-catching action. Yarde became more dominant in the fourth, with Arthur struggling to hold his ground and land initial jabs or quick counters. The sixth round was another sleeper, until the final moments when they met in a neutral corner and exchanged a few meaty shots. Huge row erupts before Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn as Billy Joe Saunders is BLOCKED from checking old rival's gloves After a couple more dull rounds slipped by and the crowd entertained themselves, Yarde landed a couple of uppercuts in the ninth. But the tenth reverted to turgid type. Yarde slung a string of left hooks in Arthur's direction in the dire last few moments and final bell was a gift from the boxing gods.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn LIVE RESULTS: Huge main event on NOW – fight start time, stream for blockbuster bout

CHRIS Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are finally clashing RIGHT NOW in a huge bout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Egg slaps and an already cancelled fight make this one of the most hotly anticipated clashes in UK boxing history, with their fathers' two previous fights in the 1990s only adding fuel to the fire. Chris Eubank Sr holds one victory over Nigel Benn, with the second bout three years later ending in a draw. Now, 35 years after the first clash, Eubank Jr and Benn contest the family trilogy that never was in the 90s, with the Benns looking to finally get one over the Eubanks. Follow our live blog below... just now By Tom Sheen National Anthem God Save The King is now being played, the final preparations are taking place in the dressing room. Benn takes a sip of water and Eubank Jr has his gloves checked and signed by the British Boxing Board of Control. Michael Buffer cries out: "Let's get this party started!" a minute ago By Tom Sheen Eubank Jr getting ready I reckon the ring walks are no more than a couple of minutes away. Conor Benn was just spotted there putting his gown on and Eubank Jr is getting his groin protection and shorts on. Michael Buffer is now in the ring... 11 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Anthony Yarde wins! Wow I didn't think the scorecards would be as wide as that! Anthony Yarde takes eight rounds for two of the judges, while the other judge gives him seven. I think eight is probably a few too many, but perhaps the judges appreciated his activity and forward movement over Arthur's counter-punching and patience. Huge result for both men, though. Anthony Yarde as put himself back into contention for a world title fight - you would think - while Lyndon Arthur will have to go back to the drawing board. 115-113 116-112 116-112 12 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Judges scorecards ncoming We're just waiting for the judges to get their scores together... 13 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur – R12 Arthur's corner: "Why are you f***ing sitting there, we told you to get off the ropes!" Final round and there is very little between these two, this round is going to be absolutely massive! Better start from Arthur as he heeds his corners advice and starts working from the centre of the ring, landing a nice combo. But Yarde is so physically strong that he just shoves him back onto the ropes and gets back to work. Arthur can't get out of there and with 90 seconds to go Yarde is definitely on top. You can hear the screams from both corners as the two fighters continue to engage in a gruelling physical battle. Yarde impressing with more shots to the body but and much, much more activity, even if they aren't the cleanest shots around. Arthur still continues to throw and lands a beautiful uppercut that just knocks Yarde's head back. Into the final 20 seconds and both continue to throw. The final bell goes! I have absolutely no idea what way that one is going to go. Arthur had the first half of the fight and Yarde the second half, but it could go any way. 17 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur – R11 Penultimate round. "Excellent, keep it up, this is your time now," are the words coming from Yarde's corner. Yarde is right back into this now and is looking much bouncier and lively with two rounds to go. The pair then get right back on top of each other and both continue to throw and have limited success. Yarde lands a nice straight right on the nose but there's not much power in that one. Arthur continues to be stuck on the ropes and throw and throw and throw. More to the body from Yarde and at the end of that round he starts landing a lot of shots. Arthur no longer moving out the way like he did! One of those body shots absolutely crunched Arthur and he does not look happy going back to his corner! Massive round incoming! 21 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur – R10 Three rounds left here, I have Arthur ahead but Yarde is still looking really dangerous and has clawed some rounds back in the last couple. The fight falls back into the same pattern with Arthur backed up against the ropes and Yarde trying to find some shots. Yarde is dictating the style but you couldn't say he's controlling the fight. Arthur continues to not allow Yarde to land much clean and he is throwing decent shots back that will also have the judges impressed. However, it's not clear how much of a physical toll this will be taking on the Mancunian, who is being bodied by the barrel-chested Londoner. Case in point when Arthur has the chance to spin out of his position on the ropes but is too tired to get out of there. Yarde continues to work the body as well as upstairs and Arthur's legs just start to look heavy as he trudges back to the corner. He didn't like that at all. 25 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur – R9 Yarde is still piling forward but he's not causing much trouble at all. He continues to put in more workrate but the shots aren't coming clean and Arthur is comfortable working defensively off the ropes and landing counters. There are some good shots coming in by both men. Arthur manages to get a bit of distance and lands a lovely left before Yarde comes right back onto his shoulder to try and work up close. Both men are putting everything into this. 28 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Sr speaks A quick word from Chris Eubank Sr between rounds... "I'm here, whether I'm in the corner or sat ringside, I'm here." He then addresses Conor Benn directly to camera: "Conor, it's not fair to say I don't like my son, I love my son.. "I may not like some of his ways, but I love him." 29 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur - R8 Lovely start to the round from Arthur who puts together another good two-piece that Yarde has no answer to. Yarde then snaps back with a strong left hand but he's struggling to land loads clean. Arthur then offers another three-punch combo - two to the body and a short hook to the jaw - that scores well. He again lands a good combo as Yarde really struggles to evade his punches. Just as I type that, Yarde muscles his rival onto the ropes and lands two clean shots that would have hurt. Arthur is comfortable on the ropes and the pair are starting to land on each other a bit more - Arthur lands a lovely left and then Yarde hits back with a right. This is really warming up now. 33 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur - R7 Yarde again now abandoning that early plan to work at range and shuts the space with a high guard to get up close and personal. The pair are shoulder to shoulder in the middle of the ring but there's very little clean work. Referee Steve Gray then brings them in for a long word - he doesn't want them so close if they are not actually going to offer any work. Yarde then lands a really nice shot but it's arguably his only scoring shot of the round. Arthur again finishes strong and, for me, he's pulling ahead in this one. 38 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur - R6 Double jab from Arthur to start the round with both making their mark. The ref then has a word with Arthur, but it's not that clear why. Arthur will certainly be the happier of the two with the way this fight has gone so far. Yarde might need to step up the pace or at least unload some combos, Arthur is reading everything he's throwing at the moment. Yarde then manages to get on top of Arthur and has him in close and on the ropes - but he's not really getting in any clean work. Definitely a change in tactics by Yarde but it hasn't brought any significant success in that round. Arthur defending and evading brilliantly well. 41 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur - R5 It's still really cagey but you can't take your eyes off this one, especially knowing Yarde has that devastating power. Arthur continues to use that jab well and just keeping Yarde well at bay. Yarde hasn't really landed more than just one big shot despite all the work around the ring and with his body. It's then Arthur who unleashes another lovely right, although it's just the single shot and he isn't able to really follow it with anything. I'm not going to second guess the judges but I think Arthur is having the better of this. 45 minutes ago By Tom Sheen Yarde vs Arthur - R4 Yarde starts working behind his own jab but Arthur just steps up his own pace and goes in with a three-piece. Maybe a sign that he is settling into this fight and ready to start opening up a bit more? Lyndon Arthur then has a little look at that giant logo on the canvas - perhaps a sign that the canvas is getting a bit slippery again. Yarde continues to work behind twitchy feints and movements but he's not landing much clean so far. Yarde then comes in but he leaves himself too far open and Arthur unleashes a perfect one-two counter hook just to end the round. Lovely little combo that was. It's tight but I'd say Arthur is edging this. Today, 20:52 By Tom Sheen Backstage drama It wouldn't be a big boxing night with just a little bit of backstage drama... First we have the arrival of Chris Eubank Snr and now Billy Joe Saunders decides to try and enter Jr's dressing room to inspect his hand wraps. He's denied entry and then really gets into it with a massive security guard. "You're a nobody!" he says to the giant, who says the same back. That would be an interesting scrap given that one is a former world champ and other has about a foot and five stone on the other. Today, 20:45 By Tom Sheen Rubber match incoming There's an absolutely massive fight coming up next. Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur meet for the third time with the pair sitting at one win each against each other. Both of these pair have fought for a world title in the last 18 months and a win would surely catapult them back into that kind of company. It really is a big one. Today, 20:42 By Tom Sheen Great stuff from McKenna That was so good from Aaron McKenna, Liam Smith hasn't ever looked that bad. But the Liverpudlian just couldn't get close to the Irishman and looked - if we're being totally honest - a bit washed. We're yet to hear from either fighter but we'll keep an eye out if they have anything to say either to the TV cameras or elsewhere. Today, 20:38 By Tom Sheen McKenna wins! No surprises there, as Aaron McKenna gets a wide win on all the scorecards A round of applause from Liam Smith as the Irishman moves on to 20-0. Career-best performance from the Silencer and one that could really open doors at world level, great stuff. The scorecards were: 119-108 117-109 118-108
