A five-year-old girl died and two men sustained critical injuries after a speeding BMW car, allegedly being driven on the wrong side, hit a motorcycle in Noida's Sector 30 on Saturday night. The police said the accused, identified as Yash Sharma, 22, a resident of Sector 37, and his co-passenger Abhishek Rawat, 22, who owns a restaurant and lives in Sector 70, have been arrested. Both are students. The vehicles have been seized. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accident took place near Gate number 3 of PGI hospital when the victims — Gul Mohammad and his brother-in-law Raja, residents of Sadarpur near Sector 45 — were returning after taking Gul Mohammad's sick daughter to the hospital. The police said the rashly driven BMW rammed into the scooter, throwing all three passengers off the vehicle. While the child succumbed to injuries, the two men were admitted to a hospital and are in critical condition. The two accused made an attempt to flee the spot but were arrested shortly after pedestrians informed the authorities, the police said. 'The two-wheeler was hit by the car while it was returning from a hospital. Immediate action was taken and the accused were arrested,' the police said. The Sector 20 police have registered a case under Sections 281, 125(b), and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which involves relevant sections for causing death by negligence and rash driving on a public road.
