Copa America Femenina — Outnumbered Brazil holds Colombia to goalless draw in final group-stage match
Colombia failed to capitalise on its numerical advantage in Friday's final Group B match at the Women's Copa America, as the reigning champion Brazil held it to a goalless draw despite being a player down. Brazil's goalkeeper Lorena was shown a red card in the 21st minute after handling the ball outside the penalty area in a bid to stop Linda Caicedo's shot during a rapid Colombian counterattack. After consulting with assistant referee Mariana Aquino, referee Milagros Arruela dismissed Lorena, forcing Brazil to rely on substitute goalkeeper Claudia for the rest of the match. Despite having an extra player, Colombia was unable to break the deadlock, with attempts from Valerin Loboa and Mayra Ramirez failing to find the back of the net. More from Copa America Femenina — Complaints from Brazil force change in warm-up rules 'Today was a very tough game, very exhausting, and we wanted to win, but now we have to keep working hard for what's coming,' Loboa said after the match. Brazil stood firm in defence, and in the second half, tried to take the lead with attempts from Yasmim, Gabi Portilho and Dudinha, but they were all unsuccessful. It came closest with a free kick from Yasmim in added time that hit the crossbar. 'We knew it would be a very difficult game, but we're very proud of this result with one player less. Now it's time to rest and think about the semifinal,' Portilho said. Both teams were already through to the semifinals, and Group B leader Brazil will face Uruguay on Tuesday. Meanwhile, runner-up Colombia, with eight points, will take on Group A leader Argentina on Monday

Brazil ease past Paraguay 4-1 to reach Women's Copa America semis
LONDON: Yasmim scored twice in the first half as defending champions Brazil reached the Women's Copa America semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Group B rivals Paraguay in Quito on Tuesday. Yasmim opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a curling free kick that nestled inside the far post and she doubled Brazil's lead 12 minutes later with an almost identical effort, catching the Paraguayan keeper off guard once again. Brazil goalkeeper Lorena produced a superb save to deny a long-range strike from Claudia Martinez before Paraguay's Camila Arrieta was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on captain Marta. Brazil made their numerical advantage count with Amanda Gutierres making it 3–0 on the hour mark but a lapse in defence allowed Paraguay to pull one back in the 65th minute through the tournament's leading scorer Martinez, who notched her fifth goal of the competition. However, any hopes of a comeback were short-lived as Duda Sampaio restored Brazil's three-goal lead with a composed finish in the 75th minute. "I'm very happy for the goals but above all for the result and for the victory," Yasmim said at the Estadio Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda. "We are very happy for the qualification to the semis. We have many aspects that we know we can improve. We have to keep working and giving our all for this shirt." Brazil remain unbeaten in Group B and will face Colombia in their final group-stage fixture on Friday - a rematch of the previous edition's final.

Kerolin helps Brazil to Copa America semi-finals
Kerolin played the first half of Brazil's comfortable 4-1 victory over Paraguay in Quito on Tuesday to help her nation qualify for the final four of the 2025 Copa America. After a hat-trick last time out in an emphatic defeat of Brazil, it was a more subdued appearance for our 25-year-old in this one. Her side were already two goals to the good at the break, leading to our attacker being rested for the second period. It made it three wins from three in Group B for the eight-time winners, who will now play Colombia in their final group game on Friday before a semi-final tie next week. WATCH: WATCH: Jeglertz checks out the Joie Stadium Real Madrid's Yasmim made the difference in the first half, breaking the deadlock with a free-kick in the 27th minute before doubling the lead in near identical fashion as half-time approached. Paraguay's task got even harder early in the second half as captain Camila Arrieta was sent off for a foul on Marta. Amanda Gutierres and Duda Sampaio put the finishing touches on the game for Brazil, either side of a consolation strike from Claudia Martinez. After three matches in the competition, Brazil have scored 12 times and conceded just the once. They'll now seek to go on and defend the crown in a tournament they've dominated since its inception. As always, we'll have reports on and our official app from every international match this summer featuring City players, including the Copa America and European Championship.
