Fifty and fabulous: Rami Chuene celebrates life with joy and gratitude

Reflecting on her journey, the "Isono" actress, Chuene took to Instagram to share her thoughts on this significant birthday, celebrated on July 3, dubbing it "The Year of Jubilee", which is known as a symbol of liberation, restoration, and fresh beginnings. South African actress and cultural icon Rami Chuene has stepped into her milestone 50th year with a radiant spirit and a heartfelt message to her fans. In the post, she expressed profound gratitude for the grace and mercy she feels for her life, even amidst the trials she has faced. "The Year of Jubilee - the year of liberation, restoration, rejoicing and a fresh start. It also represents a time of experiencing God's grace and mercy." she wrote. She added: "We are reminded that, despite trials, God's love and mercy remain ever at work, guiding humanity towards a future of light and reconciliation. With a mix of humour and openness, Chuene joked about the physical changes that come with age. "Thirty years ago, fifty was so far, so old, so elderly and today here we are ... Don't get me started on those thin but visible lines (wrinkles). What about the nipples being in line with the belly button? "Back then, motho had a figure, now we're just figuring it out. And what about the knees? Now I finally get what that song, hlogo, magetla, sefuba le letheka, mangwele le menwana meant!" "My heart is full, my spirit is at ease and my soul is content. For this 50th birthday, all the ones before and the ones still come by God's grace, I am truly grateful. What a ride, what a life! Hello Fifty❤️," she wrote, showing appreciation for all the experiences that have shaped her thus far. Earlier this year, Chuene invited women who are turning 50 to share their forgotten dreams. She said that she has "angels" who are ready to help those women make their dreams come true. This will be done through her foundation. "If you have a wish, drop us a mail ... Let's come together. Let's celebrate."

GR Diocese group leave for Rome pilgrimage

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — As Catholics worldwide await the conclave's choice of Pope Francis's successor, Diocese of Grand Rapids Bishop David Walkowiak blessed a group of West Michigan Catholics at Ford Airport before their pilgrimage to Rome. The group of 44 people from across West Michigan will spend 10 days traveling to sacred sites, a journey planned months ago. Due to mourning closures, some destinations will be inaccessible, but the pilgrimage carries added meaning during the Year of Jubilee — which the Catholic Church believes is a time in which God's holiness transforms us and is celebrated every 25 years. Kind of almost more fitting because of the message that Pope Francis delivered. The way he lived his life is really what we're looking for as Christians, whether you're Catholic or whether you're with another faith, is really what we're trying to achieve. Pope Francis represented that,' Joe Reynolds, parishioner of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Wyoming, said. 'This is quite meaningful for us during this time, to be in the city during this time of nine days of mourning. We hope we'll have a glimpse of the procession into the Sistine Chapel of the cardinals as they prepare for the conclave,' Father Lam Lee, chair of the Diocesan Jubilee Committee, said. The group returns to West Michigan next week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
