R Ashwin likely to part ways with Chennai Super Kings after returning to 'Yellow Army' in IPL 2025: Report

Ravichandran Ashwin had returned to the Chennai Super Kings after a decade after he was bought by the five-time IPL champions for Rs 9.75 crore in last year's mega auction. The spin legend's second stint with the 'Yellow Army', however, might be limited to just one season in the end. read more Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had made nine appearances for Chennai Super Kings in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League earlier this year. PTI Ravichandran Ashwin's celebrated return to the Chennai Super Kings after a decade might be limited to just one season, with the spin legend likely to part ways with the five-time champions in the build-up to the next season of the Indian Premier League. While the exact reason for Ashwin's departure from CSK is yet to be ascertained, the senior off-spinner is understood to have made up his mind and conveyed his decision to the franchise management, according to Cricbuzz. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Ashwin might have to quit non-playing role with CSK Former CSK captain MS Dhoni, who remains an integral to the team despite having turned 44 last month, has been attending meetings in Chennai with current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and top franchise officials, and it's possible that Ashwin's place in the squad will have been discussed among other topics. And should he be released into the player pool ahead of this year's retention deadline – which is usually set for October or November, more than a month before the auction – then Ashwin might also have to quit as the Director of Operations at the CSK Academy, a position he has held for the past year. It could, after all, lead to a conflict of interest if Ashwin continues in the role while joining another franchise as a player. Also Read | Fan tells Ashwin to leave CSK; former India legend's reply will melt the Yellow Army's hearts Ashwin had been bought by CSK for Rs 9.75 crore at last year's mega auction in Jeddah after being released into the player pool by Rajasthan Royals. He would go on to collect seven wickets in nine appearances in what turned out to be a disappointing season for CSK, who finished at the bottom of the table for the first time ever. Overall, Ashwin is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL with 187 wickets in 221 matches, which includes a best haul of 4/34. Ashwin wore CSK's iconic yellow for a majority of his IPL career, for seven consecutive seasons from 2009 to 2015 and earlier this year. The development comes a day after wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson had requested for a release from the Rajasthan Royals, a franchise he has represented since 2018 and captained since 2021 and was also part of from 2013 to 2015. Not only did RR skipper Samson have a lean run with the bat this year and missed quite a few games due to injury, his relations with head coach Rahul Dravid also appears to have soured over the course of the season. Samson has since been linked to a possible move to CSK as their next wicketkeeper once Dhoni retires. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Both RR and CSK finished on 8 points at the end of a disappointing season, with the Royals avoiding the wooden spoon due to a superior Net Run Rate.

June 4 a historic day in Andhra Pradesh politics: Chandrababu Naidu

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in a post on X on Wednesday, said that June 4 was the day when tyrants were overthrown by a people's revolution; when a 'psycho' rule came to an end, and every citizen regained freedom and peace; and when people voted like a movement and restored democracy in the State. Mr. Naidu further said it was a day when a State, wounded by government-sponsored terror, was handed over to the alliance, marking a new beginning for welfare, development and good governance. A day when the State triumphed through the struggles of the Pasupu Sainyam (Yellow Army), the movements of Jana Sainiks and the support of Kamalanaths (BJP followers), he said. One year ago, the mandate given by the people was taken as a responsibility to rebuild the State. 'Since then, we have been working every single day — putting governance back on track, delivering welfare and setting development in motion — to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people and to honour the trust they placed in us,' he said. 'On this first anniversary of that decisive victory, which changed the course and direction of the State, I bow my head in gratitude and offer heartfelt salutations to the people,' he said, adding: 'We promise to initiate many more welfare and development programmes in the coming four years. Congratulations and thanks to all the workers and leaders of the Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party, who played a key role in the relentless struggle against destructive rulers and laid the foundation for the alliance's victory.'

MS Dhoni Spotted Fishing In Patriotic Gear Amid IPL 2025 Exit And Retirement Buzz

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni was recently spotted unwinding in a unique way — fishing while sporting a powerful patriotic T-shirt. This candid moment comes just days after CSK's disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, adding a deeper layer to Dhoni's enduring legacy as a cricketer and a proud Indian. (@CricCrazyJohns) May 29, 2025 The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season was a tough one for Chennai Super Kings, one of the tournament's most decorated franchises. For the first time in IPL history, CSK finished at the bottom of the points table, winning only 4 matches out of 14. This shocking outcome left fans and experts alike questioning what went wrong for the Yellow Army. Stepping in as stand-in captain due to Ruturaj Gaikwad's unfortunate elbow injury, MS Dhoni tried to steer the team through turbulent waters. Dhoni's individual stats — 196 runs at an average of 24.50 with a strike rate of 135.17 — reflected a mixed season. His decision to bat lower down the order sparked debate and criticism, underscoring the challenges CSK faced in finding their rhythm. Despite the rough patch, Dhoni's leadership and calm demeanour remained a stabilizing factor for the team throughout the season. MS Dhoni's Patriotic Fishing Outing Goes Viral In the aftermath of the IPL 2025 league stages, MS Dhoni was spotted relaxing by going fishing — an activity that perfectly complements his calm and composed personality off the field. What truly captured fans' attention, however, was the T-shirt he wore during this outing. Emblazoned with the words 'Duty, Honour, Country,' the T-shirt is a bold reminder of Dhoni's unwavering respect and deep connection to the Indian Armed Forces. This patriotic message resonates with many fans who admire Dhoni not just as a cricketing icon but also as a proud patriot. Dhoni's honorary rank as Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army is well-known. Awarded in 2011, Dhoni has undergone paratrooper training and even served a 15-day stint with the Victor Force in Kashmir in 2019. The fishing photo wearing such meaningful attire has reignited discussions about Dhoni's multi-faceted personality and his love for the nation. The Retirement Buzz: What's Next for Dhoni? With CSK's IPL 2025 campaign over, speculation around Dhoni's future has intensified. After the final group match, Dhoni remained non-committal about his playing days. Instead, he emphasized the need to take a break — a 4 to 5 month pause to assess his body and then make a decision about his cricketing future. One confirmed update is Dhoni's decision to step down from the captaincy for IPL 2026, handing over the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad. Dhoni expressed confidence in Gaikwad's leadership and the team's potential to bounce back stronger with a balanced squad. Fans and cricket analysts eagerly await Dhoni's next move, hoping for one last memorable chapter from the IPL legend.

Jadeja has picked up 168 wickets in the IPL in 251 matches at an economy rate of 7.65 and an average of 30.46. IPL 2025: MS Dhoni returns as CSK captain following Gaikwad's injury

With 133 wins from 226 matches, MS Dhoni is the only captain in the IPL's history to surpass the 100-win mark. Listen to article Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming stunned the cricket world on Thursday, revealing that Ruturaj Gaikwad, the franchise's captain for IPL 2024, has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an elbow injury. Gaikwad's absence has led to the return of MS Dhoni, who has been reappointed as captain of the team for the remainder of the season. CSK confirmed the news on social media with a simple, yet impactful post that quickly went viral, garnering over 700,000 views. "CAPTAIN MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI," the post read, signaling the return of the iconic skipper to lead the Yellow Army. Gaikwad, who took over the CSK captaincy before the start of IPL 2024, led the team during a challenging season in which CSK failed to progress past the league stage. The team's hopes were dashed after they lost a crucial final league-stage match to Royal Challengers Bangalore, resulting in their early exit from the tournament. The IPL 2023 final, in which CSK clinched the title, had marked Dhoni's last season as captain before stepping down. With Dhoni at the helm again, CSK will look to turn around their disappointing start to IPL 2025. The team kicked off their campaign with a win against Mumbai Indians but has since struggled, registering just one win from five matches. They currently sit at 9th place in the points table, with their playoff hopes hanging by a thread. Gaikwad's tenure as captain has seen mixed results, with the young opener notching up 8 wins and 11 defeats from 19 matches. Despite this, his leadership experience includes captaining India in T20Is. Dhoni, on the other hand, remains one of the most successful captains in IPL history. With 133 wins from 226 matches, Dhoni is the only captain in the competition's history to surpass the 100-win mark. His legacy includes leading CSK to five IPL titles, and he will be hoping to add a sixth under his belt as he returns to the leadership role for the upcoming clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, April 11.
