Supergirl suit officially revealed after Milly Alcock's big-screen debut

Now that Superman is out in the world, it's time to look ahead at the next DCU movie. James Gunn, the co-head of DC Studios, released the official first image of House of the Dragon and Sirens breakout Milly Alcock in her Supergirl suit for next year's event film. Audiences who came to theaters this month to watch Superman (and based on the box office numbers, there were a lot of you) already saw Alcock's Kara Zor-El make her grand entrance on the big screen. Wednesday's image is the only officially released glimpse of the costume. The marketing tweaks the Superman tagline for Supergirl. Instead of "Look Up," it's now "Look Out." Alcock's Kara, cousin of Kal-El/Clark Kent (David Corenswet), appeared at the end of Superman. Off camera, she left her dog, Krypto, in Kal-El's care while she partied on planets with Red Suns. Unlike the Yellow Sun near planet Earth, Red Suns deplete Kryptonians' abilities. Kara used that to enjoy the effects of alcohol and other adult substances. "She's a mess. She's a total mess," Gunn, who also wrote and directed Superman, told ScreenRant in a recent interview. "As we learn, she's had a completely different background from Superman, a much more difficult background. He's had this wonderful upbringing by these two parents that loved him and were very healthy, and her background was much different than that."Supergirl, which is based on the beloved Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book arc, will follow Kara as she's approached by galactic warrior Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), who asks for help hunting down those who killed her father and destroyed her world. Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard) will play the villain Krem of the Yellow Hill, while Jason Momoa (former Aquaman actor) will debut as Lobo, a motorcycle-riding space bounty hunter from the comics. Craig Gillespie directs the movie, which is scheduled for theaters on June 26, 2026. "In our story, we have Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by incredibly loving parents. Kara was on Krypton," Gunn said at a previous press event in 2023. "She was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and she lived there for the first 14 years of her life in a horrible situation where she watched everyone around her die. So she's a much harsher and more f---ed up Supergirl than you've been used to thus far." Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly Solve the daily Crossword
