Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel attends state-level Yoga Day celebration in Vadnagar, sets Guinness World Record

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 22 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel graced the state-level celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day, which was held at Sharmishtha Lake in Vadnagar, the ancestral hometown of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a release said. The event was organised under the theme 'Yog for One Earth, One Health,' reflecting Gujarat's vision of a 'Healthy Gujarat--obesity-free Gujarat.' As per the official statement, Gujarat achieved a remarkable milestone on this Yog Day by setting a new Guinness World Record, with 2,121 Yog practitioners performing Bhujangasana simultaneously at the iconic Sharmishtha Lake in Vadnagar under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. This achievement adds to Gujarat's growing list of global recognitions, as the state had previously secured two prestigious records -- in 2023, during the 9th International Yog Day in Surat, 1.50 lakh people performed Yog together, and on 1st January 2024, 50,000 participants performed Surya Namaskar simultaneously across 108 locations. Both feats have been officially recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in the Yog Day celebrations held in Vadnagar. He was joined by Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, MLAs from Mehsana district, the District Panchayat President, the Municipal President, Gujarat Yog Board Chairman Sheeshpal Rajput, along with other dignitaries and officials. Everyone at the event watched the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inspiring address from Visakhapatnam. Extending greetings on this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that yoga is a timeless aspect of India's ancient culture, a priceless gift to all of humanity. It is through the visionary leadership and consistent efforts of PM Modi that this ancient tradition has received global recognition, with the United Nations declaring International Yoga Day a worldwide celebration. Highlighting that this year marks the 11th International Yog Day since its inception in 2015, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that Yog is not merely a form of exercise but an art of living. He emphasised that yoga is a science that unites the body, mind, and spirit with focus and balance. Through the regular practice of yoga, individuals can experience stress relief, enhanced immunity, and a more positive outlook on life. Moreover, yoga teaches self-discipline, restraint, and inner awakening. CM further mentioned that approximately 1.5 crore people across the state--from municipal corporations to village panchayats--participated in collective yoga sessions to mark the 11th International Yoga Day. He also made a special reference to the completion of 11 years of successful governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the Prime Minister's efforts in promoting public health, from the widespread adoption of yoga to the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He added that, thanks to the inspiration and persistent efforts of Prime Minister, India's ancient legacy of yoga and pranayama has now become an integral part of daily life for people across the globe. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that we must collectively resolve to build a 'Healthy Gujarat, Obesity-Free Gujarat' while honouring our cultural heritage and ancient traditions. He emphasised the need to transform Yog -- rooted in our ancient legacy -- into a mass movement as part of the broader vision of creating a developed, healthy, and prosperous Gujarat for Viksit Bharat in 2047. Health Minister Rushikesh Patel remarked that Pranayam has been deeply interwoven in our daily lives since ancient times. He stated that yoga and pranayama not only contribute to physical well-being but also keep the body energised. He further added that PM Modi has remarkably brought the ideals of yoga -- along with our literature and cultural heritage -- to global attention, establishing their value in promoting health. The Minister also highlighted that the world is now ready to embrace our ancient customs and traditions rooted in our rich history and culture. Let us honour our ancient heritage by making yoga a part of our daily lives and moving towards a healthier, balanced future. Chairman of the Gujarat State Yog Board, Sheeshpal Rajput, delivered the welcome address. He elaborated on how yoga connects the practitioner not just to physical wellness, but also to mental and spiritual well-being. The event was graced by the presence of District Panchayat President Trusha Patel, Member of Parliament Haribhai Patel, MLAs Kirit Patel, Sardar Chaudhary, and Mukesh Patel, Chairman of Dudhsagar Dairy Ashok Chaudhary, eminent personality Girish Rajgor, Principal Secretary M. Thennarasan, District Collector S.K. Prajapati Ravindra Khatale, Municipal Commissioner, District Development Officer Dr. Hasrat Jasmine, and Resident Additional Collector Jashvant K. Jegoda, along with other officials, dignitaries, and yoga practitioners. (ANI)

Yog Is The Beginning Of The End

Every story has a beginning and an ending. Beginnings can be exhilarating or paralysing, exciting or anxiety-producing, filled with anticipation or dread. Similarly, endings carry their energy and emotion, affecting us with relief or celebration, making us feel either bittersweet or downright sad. Yog , unlike a story, begins when everything ends. The union between the body and the mind can happen when vish, toxic elements, are eliminated in the former and vrittis, modifications, are eradicated in the latter. Vish, in the body, is eliminated through asan and pranayam, and vrittis in the mind are erased through yam, niyam, and dhyan. The body and mind cannot synchronise until the vish and vrittis are reduced. Harmony with nature or the environment can effortlessly occur when physical and psychological synchronisation occurs. Through each pose, we discover that the beginning and end present distinct benefits. In asan, the end of a pose can be seen as a transition to a new state of awareness or a new beginning. Yog encourages us to embrace transitions, both in our physical practice and lives, recognising that endings are often necessary for new beginnings. In the cyclical nature of life, endings are not necessarily final but points of transition and renewal. Every asan has a defined beginning and a defined end. The rest at the end is stillness, followed by a smooth transition to another asan. We begin in stillness, move through postures, and return to finish in stillness. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's A List Of Cheapest Steel Suppliers (See List) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo Pranayam carries a similar philosophy. Each inhalation leads to exhalation through retention, antara kumbhaka, of the air drawn into the lungs. This facilitates gathering all toxic elements in the cells, which are then sent out through exhalation. As they are exhaled, the blood is purified; each cell is cleansed to create space for more oxygen. The bahir kumbhak is a transition to another cycle of inhalation and exhalation. So, in the end, we feel rejuvenated. Both asan and pranayam, accompanied by the ten virtues of yam and niyam, help facilitate readiness for dhyan. Until that point, distractions and fluctuations create disturbances. It is only through the process of purification that the body and mind can be aligned, which is essential for sustaining good health and dhyan. Final relaxation in Savasan becomes more fulfilling after fully engaging in our practice with both physical effort and mental focus. Yog reveals the cyclical nature of human experience, showing us that the more we immerse ourselves in an experience - its start, progress, and conclusion - the greater the rewards we take away from it. We find ourselves settled and at ease in our bodies, shifting our focus to our breath and appreciating the tranquill ity that simply being in the pose provides. We cultivate the skill of commencing and concluding as we navigate our practice. As one embraces this path, the transformation transcends physical prowess, blossoming into a holistic mastery that enriches every facet of existence. The foundation known as 'Sadguru Shri Sadafal Deo Vihangam Yoga Sansthan,' has been active in South Africa for over a decade. The ancient meditation will also include devotional songs and conclude with a Gala Dinner at Kendra Hall on 17 May 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. For the past three decades, Sant Naam Deo Ji Maharaj (Naam Deo) has been at the core of founding a society built on the highest principles of human consciousness. Through leading the social wing of Sadguru Sadafal Deo Vihangam Yoga Sansthan (SSDVYS), Naam Deo has been working in the villages of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, where millions of people have benefited from the real essence of 'Yog'. Naam Deo ji is also the founder of Abhyas School of Yoga. Through this school, he imparts the universal knowledge of yoga's real essence. He says that Yoga cannot be restricted to just physical postures, kriyas, and mudras. The stream of 'Yog' extends much beyond the boundaries of present-day yoga. He says the message that the 'real essence' of Yog wants to provide and help you with is 'how you could find yourself and do what is needed'. Since 2013, SSDVYS has had special consultative status with UN-ECOSOC, and Naam Deo is its chief Program Coordinator. SSDVYS is also recognised by UN-Habitat for its initiatives towards establishing world peace. Naam Deo travels extensively around the world, meeting people directly. He helps every individual who comes up to him, unwinding their constructs and uplifting them. Only recently in 2022, Naam Deo travelled 42 days in the USA, meeting people in old-age homes and other relief and welfare organisations engaged in the service of humanity. Naam Deo is travelling to Africa, the UK, the USA, and Canada from May 2025 to September 2025 to preach and impart 'Acceptance through diversity' through a series of free interactive sessions and workshops open to people of all classes, creeds, genders, colours, nationalities, etc. Vihangam Yoga is also known as Devyan Marg / Meen Maarg / Madhu Vidya /Para Vidya or Brahmavidya. It was the only form of Bhakti known to the sages. With the passage of time, this became fragmented, and the various fragments appeared in different forms as complete yoga practices. Some of these yoga practices are Raj Yoga, Hath Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Laya Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Tantra Yoga, and Kundalini Yoga, etc. Vihangam Yoga thus happens to be the mother of all yoga practices. This is an esoteric Metaphysical Science of Consciousness that is to be learnt from and practised under the guidance of Sadguru. Video Player is loading.
