Woman claims trial to trespassing on Pahang state land

PETALING JAYA : A woman claimed trial in the Raub sessions court today to trespassing on land owned by the Pahang government in Sungai Pertang, Mukim Gali, by opening a Musang King durian farm and building a hut without permission last year.
Yong Lian Kien, 47, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to her before judge Noor Zaihan Mohamad Ali, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Yong is accused of occupying state land at 11.19am on Aug 9 last year.
The charge is framed under Section 425(1)(a) of the National Land Code (Act 828) as amended in 2020, which provides for a fine of up to RM500,000 or a maximum of five years in prison, or both, upon conviction.
The court allowed bail at RM8,000 with one surety and fixed Sept 24 for case mention.
