Taylor Swift Celebrates New Album Announcement With Dinner in NYC

To say that Taylor Swift is a pro at teasing (and making) big announcements is an understatement. She practically invented the easter egg. So much so that you can't be a Swiftie without being convinced that everything she does is coded. Even, for example, Taylor Swift celebrating The Life of a Showgirl announcement by going out to dinner with friends in NYC. In what world would a dinner be an easter egg, you ask? Well, on Wednesday, fresh off the release of Taylor's New Heights podcast episode (where she debuted the name of her new album, the tracklist, and the album art), the singer was spotted with pals Ashley Avignone and Owen Thiele. According to Page Six, the three enjoyed a quiet dinner at Casa Cipriani in NYC. Innocent enough, right? I think not! Fans weren't shocked to see Ashley at the dinner, considering she and Tay have been friends for over a the fact that she was hanging out with the breakout star of Overcompensating and Adults caught some fans off guard. However! Taylor and Owen actually go way back. Like, all the way to her 'You Need to Calm Down' music video back. In 2019, Owen made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in the video for 'You Need to Calm Down,' as evidenced by an IG post he made. 'IM NOT CALM. Taylor is a goddess genius but we all knew that,' he captioned his pics. 'Watch her new vid for YNTCD now!! I'm in it for a second and you might miss me but it was genuinely the role of a lifetime.' The following year, he made an appearance in her video for 'The Man.' Ahem: Could this mean we'll be seeing Owen in a new video soon? He also appeared in Sabrina Carpenter's A Nonsense Christmas special, so starring in Sabrina and Taylor's 'The Life of a Showgirl' video would be quite the full circle moment! See? I told you there was a easter egg in there, but that's just one Swiftie's opinion.

Newsom trolls Trump with Taylor Swift song: ‘You need to calm down'

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) trolled President Trump amid their feud over immigration raids on Tuesday with a post on Instagram featuring the Taylor Swift song, 'You Need to Calm Down.' In a 10-second video, Newsom seemed to knock the president for insulting him on social media, highlighting a key line of the song urging the president to 'say it in the street,' rather than 'say it in a tweet.' The video opens with an image of Newsom speaking into a microphone, as he stands next to Trump in front of Air Force One. The song plays, 'Say it in the street, that's a knockout.' As the song continues — 'But you say it in a tweet, that's a cop out' — the video shows a Truth Social post from the president knocking Newsom as 'Newscum.' Trump wrote, in the post, timestamped on Saturday: 'If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles, can't do their jobs, which everyone knows they can't, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!' The video pans to another image of the two men, who stand facing each other, as the governor points at Trump, holding a finger to the president's chest. 'And I'm just like, 'Hey, are you okay?'' the song continues, zooming in on Trump, as white text appears on the screen, 'r u ok?' The caption of the photo, posted from Newsom's official 'cagovernor' Instagram account, reads, 'America's keyboard warrior.' It was posted Tuesday morning, as the war of words between the two men continued to heat up over the best way to quell protests in downtown Los Angeles and the surrounding area following demonstrations over recent domestic raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Trump deployed thousands of National Guard troops, federalizing state forces that would normally be under the purview of the governor. The move has prompted backlash among many Democrats, including Newsom who unsuccessfully sought legal recourse to block the move. Their feud has only escalated since the Instagram video. In a late-night video on Tuesday, Newsom tore into Trump for interfering in California, saying, 'This brazen abuse of power by a sitting President inflamed a combustible situation.' Gavin Newsom trolls Trump on TikTok using Taylor Swift lyrics

California Gov. Gavin Newsom took to TikTok with a pointed message for Donald Trump, using a Taylor Swift song to respond to a series of escalating personal and political attacks from the president. Set to Swift's hit 'You Need to Calm Down,' the video posted Tuesday, June 10, featured screenshots of a recent Truth Social post in which Trump referred to the governor as 'Gavin Newscum.' The montage paired that post with lyrics from Swift's track — 'Say it in the street, that's a knock-out / But you say it in a tweet, that's a cop-out' — alongside photos of Newsom and Trump in conversation. The video concluded with a blunt caption: 'America's keyboard warrior.' The song, released during Pride Month in 2019, appears on Swift's 'Lover' album and is known for its pro-LGBTQ+ message. Newsom's TikTok, which quickly gained traction online, landed amid rising tensions between California officials and the Trump administration over federal immigration enforcement in Los Angeles. In recent days, Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to the city without the governor's consent, citing unrest tied to Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids. In response, California officials filed a lawsuit, calling the federal deployment both unlawful and provocative. 'There is no invasion. There is no rebellion,' California Attorney General Rob Bonta said at a press conference on Monday, June 9. 'Federalizing the California National Guard is an abuse of the President's authority under the law.' Newsom, a longtime critic of Trump, accused the president of overstepping his authority. 'Trump is unhinged right now, and this is just another proof point of that,' Newsom wrote on X. The spat between the governor and president intensified when Trump endorsed the idea of arresting Newsom for obstructing immigration enforcement. 'I would do it if I were Tom,' Trump said at a press briefing Monday, referring to his border czar Tom Homan, who publicly suggested Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass could face legal consequences Newsom responded by calling Trump's actions an 'unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.' While Trump has not responded directly to the TikTok post, the White House claimed the two spoke by phone on Monday. 'This whole fiasco could make Gavin president,' wrote Anthony Scaramucci, Trump's former White House communications director, also on X.
