YouTube tabs content creator Deestroying as sideline reporter for Chiefs-Chargers
YouTube will lean into its roots for its inaugural exclusive NFL stream, utilizing content creator Deestroying as a sideline reporter for the Sept. 5 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers from São Paulo, Brazil.
Deestroying, whose real name is Donald De La Haye, spent a little time as a kicker in the UFL after a playing career at Central Florida. His YouTube channel has 6.32 million followers.

Deestroying will join play-by-play announcer Rich Eisen and analyst Kurt Warner. The Athletic previously reported that Warner was hired and Eisen was the leading candidate to call the game after YouTube found that the top play-by-play broadcasters were all taken with the opening of the NFL and college seasons on the same weekend. Stacey Dales will join Deestroying on the sidelines. Terry McAulay will be the rules expert. NBC will handle the production. These moves are all official.
The studio team will consist of Kay Adams, Cam Newton, Derek Carr, Brandon Marshall, Tyrann Mathieu, and another YouTube creator, Peter Overzet. YouTube said the pregame show will have a 'dynamic podcast-style format.'
On Spanish-language game coverage, René Giraldo and former kicker Edgar Lopez will handle the commentary.
